Still on the Nigerian presidential elections, I
want to use this opportunity to send a vote of
thanks on behalf of myself and well-meaning
Nigerians to yet another person most Nigerians
would see and view as unworthy of our thanks.
He is the person of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the
former governor of Lagos state.
From the work I did leading towards the
elections and from my researches. I see that
he is a man that has put his life on the line and
in danger to help Nigeria experience a credible
change. Thanks to Gov. Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s
contribution, we now have a new government
in power.
First of all, he accepted to merge his party with
Gen. Buhari’s party. Secondly, he sacrificed his
ambition because as the head of a party he
probably had the ambition of becoming the
president or a vice president himself. But
because he had agreed to allow the president
elect Gen. Buhari to be the flag bearer of a
united party, it meant he had to withdraw his
candidacy.
Moreover, being a Muslim as Gen. Buhari is, it
means he would also not be able to run for the
position of the vice president. So, he had to
basically make himself irrelevant politically to
be able to make sure there is a general victory
for his party. He also did it for the good of
Nigeria of course.
I think that despite the faults that people might
find with Gov. Tinubu, we should remember
that we are all fallible. We need to
acknowledge the good things that people do,
rather than pointing accusing fingers at them.
We have to give credit to whom credit is due,
honor to those who deserve honor.
I believe Gov. Tinubu is one of such individuals
that we as Nigerians must appreciate. As young
Nigerians we must tell our elders that they are
doing a good job when they do well. We must
acknowledge, appreciate and encourage them
to go for it and do better things.
Still some other people won’t see the need to
“glorify” or thank Gov. Tinubu because of the so
called many evils that he has perpetrated. Well,
I personally don’t know of those evils. I have
not done any research on them, but I can see
clearly some of the good he has done. For him
to come up with a candidate such as Vice
President Yemi Osinbajo, I think the guy has a
knack for good picks.
I know that he is the one that came up with the
candidate of Rauf Aregbesola as the governor
of Osun state. As far as I am concerned Gov.
Rauf is doing his best in Osun state, so it means
there is something in the man Tinubu that
makes him to have a knack for picking the right
people.
These are some of the best people in our
politics. Gov. Tinubu was able to bring them to
the political lime light of our nation. Someone
like Gov. kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state that
recently lost his reelection bid, is another
brilliant man. Even though he lost, many
people still commend him that he did well as
the governor of Ekiti state.
I am from Ogun state and my governor
Ibikunle Amosun is also a product of Gov.
Tinubu’s efforts. Same goes for the Oyo state
governor, Gov. Abiola Ajimobi. All these
people were one way or another influenced by
Gov. Bola Tinubu.
Many who know Gov. Bola Tinubu well, will say
that he is a visionary leader. A man of purpose
with an agenda to see an improved Nigeria in
our generation.
I know he is hugely criticized, I know people
are saying he has ulterior motives, I know
about the documentary that was made about
him. All that could be said and done about
anyone. If some people could make such a
damaging documentary about Gen. Buhari who
is probably the most reputable politician in
Nigeria, I am not surprised that dirt could be
thrown at anyone. It is easier to throw dirt than
to see what is good in people.
I have discovered as a pastor that we as
humans have only two ways of looking at great
people. Its either we see their good side and
learn from them or we look for their negative
side and castigate them. Meaning we would
never become as great as they are.
It is another thing if you are engaged in what
we call constructive criticism rather than
destructive criticism. When you are pointing
out concrete acts in their stewardship which is
fact based, I think that is proper. I have not
done my investigations about Gov. Tinubu, yet
the results of his stewardship are there to be
seen. Even by producing the Lagos state
governor, Gov. Raji Fashola who by every
estimation has done so well, is a vindication for
Gov. Tinubu.
I heard that Gov. Raji Fashola actually carried
out the Master Plan that Gov. Tinubu
developed for Lagos state. So if the script is
from Gov. Tinubu and Gov. Fashola played it
out so well, kudos should go to Gov. Tinubu for
picking Fashola as successor. That tells us a
whole lot about this man.
Gov. Tinubu is a Muslim, yet living wonderfully
with a born again Christian wife. It is difficult
for me to see Gov. Tinubu as an embodiment
of evil as he has been portrayed by some. My
thinking is, he deserves some of our honor as
Nigerians.
From me, dear Gov. Tinubu I want to say a big
thank you for the efforts you put into
producing a new president for Nigeria. I want
to express our gratitude as a people from
those who respect me, those who agree with
me, and those who follow me. A big thank you
for helping make Gen. Buhari the President of
Nigeria.
Thank you for also playing a role in the
emergence of our Vice President Prof. Yemi
Osinbajo. Great appreciation to you for all that
you have done over the years, for Lagos state
and for Nigeria in general.

Tony Hansberry II is only 14 and is quite the surgeon already. The teen-aged surgical researcher has single-handedly developed a surgical procedure that may save the lives of millions of women who undergo hysterectomy surgery. Tony is a hospital intern as well as a student at the Darnell-Cookman Middle/HighSchool. The preparatory facility is a magnet school with curriculums that are all focused on the professional medical field of practice. At this school students will learn and become masterfully proficient at suturing alone by the eighth grade. Angela TenBroeck of Darnell- Cookman Middle/HighSchool indicates that Tony and his genius is represented all throughout their student body. She says of Tony Hansberry II, “I would put him up against a first-year med student. He’s an outstanding young man, and I’m proud to have him representing us.” Similarly Tony has wowed his obstetrics and gynecology professor with his innovative approaches to surgery during their highly technical surgery simulations. www.farrahgray.com/14-year-old-african-american-boy-invents-new-surgical-procedure-astonishes-doctors/4/ |
