Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Discrimination Of HND Holders, Equating Them With Bsc Third Class. by wiselett: 8:10pm On Nov 10, 2015
it's regrettable to say this, but, SO LONG AS 2.2 GRADUATES ARE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST IN THE JOB MARKET, HND HOLDERS SHOULD EXPECT TO BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST EVEN MORE.

I think it's unrealistic to think that a HND will be welcomed with open arms EVEN IF YOU ARE THE 'TOPPEST' STUDENT FROM THE 'TOPPEST' POLYTECHNIC in the country when 2,2 holders are not finding it funny in the job market.

Whether we choose to be in denial till 2099, it is a FACT that a University graduate is preferred to his polytechnic counterpart as far as Nigeria is concerned.

I did not attend a polytechnic, but I know polytechnic students are very good with practicals far more than their University friends, same way University students are the best in theories than those in the poly........to go to Uni no be beans though. The training you get for 5years is no joke.

I do not know what they are looking for in the job market, but I 100% understand why most companies want degree holders, especially those from recognized institutions where they know that before you graduated with that result, you must have seen Benzene. Lol.

If everyone is to treated equally, let the prejudice be removed about 2.2 graduates, and let every applicant be given a fair chance in the interviews (afterall, it is no longer news that some 2.2 holders perform much better than some with 2.1, even 1st class). Yes, it's true.

A level playing ground for EVERYBODY. Show us what you got, prove your result to us through the interviews....... THEN will we know that we have started.

Politics / Re: LIVE Updates From Buhari And Rochas' Campaign In Owerri by wiselett: 7:48am On Jan 13, 2015
lol. I see people fighting one another on this thread and it's too bad. Election is not a do or die affair, please Nigerian youths. Let's snap out of this. Snap out of it!

LET NO MAN BE DECEIVED/DECEIVE HIMSELF. WHOEVER ANYONE WILL VOTE IS IN HIS MIND, NO ONE CAN ENTER ANOTHER MAN'S MIND AND KNOW WHAT IS THERE.

THAT A PERSON ATTRACTS A LARGE CROWD DOES NOT AUTHOMATICALLY EQUATE TO ALL OF THEM VOTING FOR HIM/HER. PEOPLE GO TO CAMPAIGN GROUNDS FOR DIFFERENT REASONS- SOME OUT OF BOREDOM, OTHERS TO SATISFY THEIR CURIOSITY, AND YET OTHERS BECAUSE IT COSTS NOTHING TO WATCH(After all 'lookery' is free).

IMOLITES ARE ONE PEOPLE I'LL DESCRIBE AS BEING A VERY INTELLIGENT SET OF PEOPLE. IN SPITE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE FORMING THE CROWD THAT FOLLOWS A CERTAIN POLITICAL PARTY, THEY WILL STILL VOTE WHOEVER IS IN THEIR HEART.

THESE PEOPLE HAVE GONE PAST VOTING FOR A POLITICAL PARTY. IMO PEOPLE DON'T VOTE FOR PARTIES, THEY VOTE IN INDIVIDUALS. Look at the last election in that state and you'll have a lot to learn. THEY DON'T CARE WHAT PARTY YOU REPRESENT, IF THEY ARE CONVINCED INDIVIDUALLY THAT A CERTAIN PERSON LOVES THEM AND CARES ABOUT THEM, IS HONEST, DISCIPLINED AND WILL PERFORM WELL, EVEN IF HE IS IN THE LEAST RECOGNIZED PARTY, THEY WILL VOTE HIM INTO POWER. It's as smple as that. It's something I wish all Nigerians would be enlightened enough to do. Let us vote for credible individuals even if they are in the 'unknown' party.

LOOKING AT THAT CROWD, I WON'T BE SURPRISED MOST OF THOSE PEOPLE CAME OUT BECAUSE OF THEIR LOVE FOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA, AND NO MATTER WHAT, THEY WILL HONOUR HIM. I wouldn't be quick to translate all those people to automatic APC voters for the presidency.

ROCHAS HIMSELF MIGHT HAVE A LANDSLIDE VICTORY IN THE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS ( because contrary to the negative propaganda I've seen a lot of people do here on nairaland, that man has performed tremendously well in Imo State to the point that if someone hasn't gone back to his hometown in a long time, he's most likely to ask for directions to his father's house. You'll keep touring your hometown till you travel back. He has done that well), but it might not translate to a landslide in the presidential elections.

I wouldn't be quick to guess who Imo people will vote more for, it's in their minds (as it should be for every Nigerian). Nigeria is old enough for Nigerians to know they deserve the best people to be their leaders. Forget money and the moneybags.let us mature in our thinking. Only when we do that will all these corrupt people be afraid to take Nigerians for a ride....and not when we worship them like beggars.
Family / Re: You're Not A Nigerian If You Didn't Do These Things As A Child by wiselett: 10:38pm On Dec 06, 2014
holatin:
Na only ajepako dey do dat nt all Nigeria children.
Its good to be AJEPAK'S
lol. Wetin be de definition of 'ajepako'?
I no go say i be 'ajepako' or 'ajebutter'.........probably a mixture of both, leaning mostly on the 'ajebutter' side. But i can say i did 99.9% of all dat....probably cos i was a tomboy (found it more fun playing with boys than girls cos girls can form!) Lol.
My childhood was interesting....no play wey pesin no play.

You forgot to mention:
- played soccer with toilet ball (you know that orange-coloured 'stone' ball with pierced tip....and all other painful balls. Haha (adidas no dey reign dat time, na 'okpomkporo'.....
or played soccer with small unripe orange to be changed every time it gets squashed underfoot.

-played basketball with car tyre as the goal mouth.

-Jumped rolling tyres in succession (when it wasn't fun using normal car tyres, tipper/lorry tyres were used).

-reserved 'special' plates and spoons even before the food is cooked!

-tiptoe out of the house at the slightest indication of friends/neighbours playing outside.

-pretend to observe your siesta only to disappear from the house few minutes later(how does a child sleep in the afternoon when you hear others playing? Hot afternoon of all times....which kin 'siesta' be dat? Lol)

-store every crown cork you see whether clean or not just to play with later(doesn't matter if your room becomes sandy).

-Bite open mango seed just because you heard it houses tortoise!

-Purposely provoke dogs to chase you for the fun of it(can't forget the day i fell and came face-to-face with one). Haha. Na there my dog play got red card.

-climb tree tops just to pluck fruits and relax there even if you were told girls don't climb trees.

-put omo in cans and blow bubbles(victory for the biggest bubbles!).

-beat the daylight out of your cushions/sofas with cane while teaching dem 'students' and they're not understanding. (i can't even laugh).

-pretending to be sick just to skip work only to find out you're too good an actor when you fall sick for real minutes later!.

-argue with your friends about the pronounciation of a word, only to agree to wait for the 9pm network news to get the correct pronounciation from the newscaster. (No be now some newscasters dey 'kpoom' over word pronounciation more than primary school kids!

Abeg dem too plenty.......

I really pity kids of nowadays, who only play video games. No more playing outside with friends...even if they do, na 'ajebo' play. Not good....not good...
