Day by day the number of cars in your city is rapidly increasing and topping that, cars from neighboring cities are entering yours too. The number of people driving near you is quite a lot, and when more people are driving, there are more chances of accidents. It doesn’t matter how much experience or a new driver you may be; accidents can happen anywhere and to anyone. Drivers usually get their insurance done, of both car and life, but somehow when a moment comes when you need to use the insurance then you either get it delayed, or the benefits that you are supposed to get are short of what they should be. Having someone aiding you through the insurance claim process would be certainly helpful and car accident lawyers do the purpose for you. Today, we are listing the 5 Ways Car Accident Lawyers Can Help You Recover Your Losses. Accident 1. CALCULATING THE FINANCIAL LOSS FOR YOU A car accident lawyer does all the calculations for you and tells you the correct amount that you should be claiming for. You can never achieve a 100% recovery of the loss you suffer, but your lawyer tries to get maximum compensation for you. The lawyers are professionals and see such cases every time. Having the experience of dealing with such cases every time these lawyers know how to recover the loss that you get during the accident. They find the best way to get the claim from the insurance company for you. 2. REPRESENTS YOU Accident If the client suffers an accident, it is the lawyer of the client that does all the claiming work for them. If the injuries received are major, then it is the lawyer who represents the client during the hearings. The lawyers either directly represent you during the hearings or try to get the hearings of the case to commence when you get fine by pleading to the jury. 3. SAVES YOU FROM BEING CHEATED Accident If it isn’t the lawyer representing you, and you decide to get the claim amount by yourself, then there are good chances that you would get much less than you actually should be getting. The insurance companies naturally try to provide you as minimum as they can, and if you don’t know how things work there, then you will be at a loss. A lawyer representing you is enough to keep the insurance companies from even trying pulling a trick on you. Even if there are any mistakes that insurance companies may commit then the lawyer who is experienced enough would pinpoint that and save you from any loss. 4. A LIFESAVER Accident If while driving, a client meets an accident and it’s the client who is actually at fault, then it’s the lawyer who can work as a lifesaver for them. A lawyer, while defending you, tries to do the damage control. The car accident lawyers can try to save you at different levels starting from the settlement of the issue outside the legal works, by talking to the person filing the lawsuit, to representing you in the court. 5. DIFFERENT STATES, DIFFERENT LAWS Accident Not all states function the same as yours. There might be some difference in the law structure of the state in which you claim the accident to be occurring. Claiming of the insurance or filing of the lawsuit can be tricky with the different laws. A lawyer by your side, who is aware of the laws of different states makes the job easier for you and even does the job for you himself. They go through all the framework that is needed to get you your rightful claim.

According to Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola would be devastated after losing to their Premier League title rivals, Liverpool. Manchester City slipped nine points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men to the fourth position after losing 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday. Fabinho scored the first goal to give Liverpool the lead with a superb strike 22 seconds after Manchester City were denied a penalty. The second goal came from Mohamed Salah in the 13th minute, at half-time, it was 2-0 in favour of the Reds. Sadio Mane put the game to bed shortly after half-time with another header. Bernardo Silva scored the only consolation goal for City but that wasn’t enough as Liverpool held on to win 3-1 and move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. Speaking after the game, former Arsenal manager said: ‘First of all, to lose a big game is terrible. ‘You saw the reactions from both of the managers tonight. You can see the pressure they are under and how much a game like that means to both of them. ‘Pep will go home and be absolutely devastated, more than you think. If you think a quantity, add 100% and you might get close to that. ‘Overall, nine points is too big a difference for Man City after 12 games.’ Reacting to the match, Klopp said: ‘They were good. Oh, they were good and we had to defend with all we had but we scored incredible goals. ‘It was so tough to play, the intensity of the game was so clear. It was all worth it, really great. The boys were completely focused and concentrated. ‘It was so good. It is the only way we can beat City, maybe other teams can do it a different way but this is the only way we can beat them.’ Liverpool currently sit on top of the Premier League table with 34 points winning 11 games and drawing just one. They are followed by Leicester City and Chelsea in the second and third positions respectively. Manchester City slip to 4th position with 25points.

The Life Builders Initiative (LBI), a Non-Governmental Organisation, has raised alarm over the 13 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, saying it is a time bomb that could consume the country in the next few years. The founder of the NGO, Dr Sanwo David, who raised the concern while addressing the press ahead of its stakeholders forum on education next week, warned that “if we don’t get these children back to school, in the next few years, we would have built an army that’s worse than Boko Haram and bandits.” He said his NGO, which had been working on getting out-of-school children back to school in the past six years, had impacted the lives of over 1500 children. Dr. David argued that poverty was the main reason the kids were out of school, stressing that over 92 million Nigeria were living below the poverty line. “If they (Out-of-school children) don’t go to school in the next five years, they would have produced another 150 million out-of-school children,” he warned. While acknowledging that the government had done well to make basic education free and compulsory, he said other things like feeding, uniform, books amongst others needed for schooling were not provided, hence the reluctance of parents to release their kids for school. The LBI founder said the NGO was staging the stakeholders forum to discuss the best way to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children in Nigeria while also launching its model that could be used by interested Nigerians to drive the initiative. “We have invited people with the same mindset. Our contribution to national security is to put the children back to school and we will be converging on Radio house on 14 and 15 of this month to find solutions to this problem,” he stressed. Dr. David said if well-to-do Nigerians could donate N1000 each per month, so many out-of-school children would be reached and a major national disaster would have been averted. He said LBI, currently running two schools in Abuja, was planning to scale the project to the Northeast and Northwest States as well as Nasarawa state in the North Central with the target of reaching 2000 children in every two years. LBI programme coordinator, Ifeoluwa David, said the inclusion of vocational training to the school system was responsible for the success achieved so far.

Trevor Noah to produce film on 8-year-old Nigerian chess prodigy. Television host and comedian, Trevor Noah, is developing a film about Tanitoluwa ‘Tani’ Adewumi, the eight-year-old Nigerian chess prodigy. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adewumi’s story broke on the internet in March when he was profiled by the New York Times, going from homelessness to internationally known chess champion. Noah, who hosts the award-winning The Daily Show, would produce the film under his Day Zero Productions imprint, alongside business partner, Haroon Salem. State Street Pictures and Mainstay Entertainment were also named as producers on the project, which was acquired by Paramount Studios. NAN reports that Adewumi had only been playing chess for a year when he won the New York State Scholastic Chess Championship in 2018. He learned to play chess from a teacher at school. The plot of the film centred on the Adewumi family’s survival story of seeking asylum only to become homeless in New York, and the lengths that parents would go to for their children. After their story began spreading around social media, the family was able to secure permanent housing thanks to the more than 250,000 dollars in donations that they received through GoFundMe. The film’s script would be adapted from a trio of books on the family, which would be released through HarperCollins’ W Publishing imprint in 2020. (NAN)

The minister of youths and sports development, Mr Sunday Dare has revealed that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote is set to renovate the Main Bowl of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. Dare said the renovation would include just the football pitch, light and scoreboard at the stadium. According to him, work would begin in the next two weeks. “Yes, Abuja is coming back up,” he said. “Already we have gotten Dangote, I can say that he has agreed to bring back the Abuja football pitch, the light and scoreboard. Work will start in another one week or two weeks. “And we will use the same model, we will adopt the pitch model for several of our stadia. At least, the three other big ones. “We are looking at between now and March, we should have four big stadia, football pitches, FIFA standard. “And I think if given time, within a year, this country should be ready to host any FIFA soccer tournaments.” It would be recalled that 60,000 capacity stadium was built in 2003 during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration and over the years, the national edifice began to waste away. The last major sporting event held at the stadium was the National Sports Festival held last year December while the last competitive football game was on April 12, 2016 which was the 2nd leg of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Senegal.

About 1.2 million civilians are trapped and have been denied access to humanitarian aid and services in two local government areas now largely under the control of Boko Haram, Edward Kallon, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, said. Mr Kallon also revealed that humanitarian workers have, in the past 18 months, become major targets of the insurgents. Delivering a keynote address at the ongoing International Civil-security summit in Maiduguri, the top UN official in Nigeria said the situation on the ground in the Northeast does not “give room for fiction.” Noting that the decade-old Boko Haram crisis has claimed the lives of over 35,000 people in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states, Mr Kallon stressed the urgent need for improved civil-military relationship in the ongoing war against insurgency. He said it has become imperative to be overt about the situation facing the subregion. “This crisis deserves our sustained attention and renewed commitment.” He said stakeholders in the Northeast must build trust amongst themselves “in order to improve Civil-Security Cooperation.” He noted that as Boko Haram insurgency clocks its 10th year, not less than seven million people are still in need of humanitarian assistance. “Over the past ten years, over 35,000 people have lost their lives in this crisis. About 14,000 were civilians, but many others were members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he said. Aid workers killed Mr Kallon further lamented that the Boko Haram insurgency has also led to the death of many humanitarian workers. “The crisis has also had a heavy toll on aid workers and the past year has marked a turning point in our response,” he said. He lamented that aid workers, whether of the United Nations, international or national NGOs, or ministries, departments and agencies, “have increasingly become the target of attacks by non-state armed groups, criminals and petty thieves.” “Ten aid workers, all Nigeria, have died as a result of violence perpetrated by Boko Haram and other non-state armed groups in the past 18 months. Six of our colleagues are still held hostage.” Mr Kallon added that despite the commitment of aid workers towards “saving the lives of many”, his colleagues are on a daily basis also working “within a continuously shrinking humanitarian space.” He lamented that this has contributed to reducing their access to vulnerable people. “As of this year, two more LGAs have become out-of-reach for the humanitarian community,” he said. “While we strive to improve the quality of services to people we reach, there are now an estimated 1.2 million people who cannot be reached by the humanitarian community and represent an estimated 50 per cent increase in geographic space and a 30 per cent increase in numbers of people in comparison to last year.” The official said preserving humanitarian access to the affected population within the current situation in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states “will continue to be the most critical and challenging element to ensuring a response commensurate to the needs in 2020 and beyond.” Commends Military Efforts Mr Kallon also commended the military for reducing the space of the Boko Haram crisis from six states to three. “The Nigerian Armed Forces in the northeast have been a critical component in ensuring a safe and secure environment to enable humanitarian and development partners to carry out their work.” “Armed conflicts may not be preventable, but there are rules that apply, and they have limits,” he said. “Adherence and observation of laws of armed conflict is a must. Pain and losses cannot be avoided but they can be reduced. “Nigerian, as a sovereign state, is faced with the continued fragmentation of different factions of NSAGs, the increase in criminal activities and use of asymmetrical warfare, as well as complex conflict dynamics. Need for more donor support Mr Kallon further noted that the crisis in Nigeria calls for more local and global support for humanitarian workers. “The international community joined all Nigerian partners to rapidly scale- up the humanitarian response in accessible LGA and provided humanitarian assistance to 5.6 million people in 2017; 5.5 million people in 2018 and over 4 million in 2019 as of October. Earlier at the event, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, whose ministry convened the summit, blamed the continuing Boko Haram crisis on “poor management” of strategy by the military and other international humanitarian agencies working in northeast Nigerian. She said, “it is apparent that where civil-security relations are poorly managed, humanitarian action may inadvertently compound other security problems.” Source: https://westdelivery.com.ng/1-2-million-civilians-trapped-in-nigerian-territories-by-boko-haram-un/ |

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Samuel Dentu, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair. The Ghanaian official said Nigeria’s border closure almost caused difficulties in bringing exhibition products to the fair, but for the timely intervention by relevant Federal Government authorities. Dentu said: “As a fall out of what is happening with the border closure, we had a bit of issues getting the products coming here for exhibition but we worked with the Nigeria Customs and our Embassy in Lagos and we were able to get to the fair. “Nigerian Government has helped us by taking Ghanaians to border to negotiate and our goods were released. “This shows that the Government of Nigeria has been magnanimous enough to help us so far. “We have been working with authorities here to make sure that we don’t suffer collateral damage as far as the closure is concerned. “We eventually pulled through it because of the cordial relationship that we had with Nigeria authorities.” Dentu said Ghanaians preferred to exhibit their products in Nigeria because of the similarity in language and products and, above all, the brotherly relationship. “We know there are trade barriers, but that doesn’t stop the smooth relationship between both countries,” the Ghanaian official said. NAN reports that 37 Ghanaian companies are participating in the Lagos International Trade Fair holding between November 1 and 10. In an updated document on the notice of hearing on the petitions by Discos on the Minor Review and Minimum Remittance Order dated November 5, 2019, and obtained from the commission in Abuja, the power sector regulator also outlined additional expectations from the Discos. The commission had issued a cancellation notice to eight power distribution companies in October this year and mandated them to respond within 60 days, otherwise their licences would be cancelled. It named the eight firms as Abuja, Benin, Enugu, Ikeja, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt and Yola Discos. The Discos, according to the NERC, breached the terms and conditions of their respective distribution licences based on the provisions of Electric Power Sector Reform Act and the 2016 – 2018 Minor Review of Multi Year Tariff Order and Minimum Remittance Order for the Year. “The cancellation notice remains extant and the eight Discos are still required to show cause in writing within 60 days from the date of receipt thereof as to why their licences should not be cancelled in accordance with section 74 of EPSRA,” the commission stated. It noted that the eight recipients of the cancellation notice who filed petitions against the Minor Review and Minimum Remittance Order had acknowledged that their petitions did not constitute their written response to the cancellation notice. The regulator added, “The deadline for the submission of written response showing cause against the cancellation notice by the eight Discos is December 7, 2019.” On other demands from the Discos, the commission said it expected the eight power firms to address the issue of “optimal utilisation of resources” and “efficient operation” imposed by sections 32 and 76 of EPSRA, respectively, in their written responses to the cancellation notice. The commission also stated that it expected the eight Discos to address the principles of “prudence” and “used and useful” as further justification of optimal utilisation of resources for efficient operations in the areas of general procurement practices, related party transactions, and directors’ fees and expenses. Others include technical partners from takeover to date, material and contingent liabilities, utilisation of intervention, fund received from the Federal Government, efforts to date to address customer complaints and improvement of overall willingness to pay for services. cancellation The NERC further stated that the Discos must show analysis of capital and recurrent expenditure, metering and billing of maximum demand customers, metering and billing of MDAs, payments for technical and management fees, purchase and utilisation of foreign exchange and remittances on market obligations from date of takeover to date. Power distributors are the designated revenue collection agents for the entire value chain in the industry, as they interface with end-user customers. The eight Discos have been unable to meet the minimum remittance thresholds specified in the Minor Review and Minimum Remittance Order. The 20-year old World Cup winner moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 from Monaco after starring for his boyhood club for two seasons. He had been linked with a host of other European clubs before his move to the French capital. Last summer, he was rumored to be heading to Real Madrid as coach Zinedine Zidane looked to beef up his team ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. The move, however, failed to materialize and the forward, who is viewed as Karim Benzema’s long-term replacement remained in Paris. mbappe Rumors have once again resurfaced indicating that the speedster could move to Real Madrid and coach Zinedine Zidane hinted that the club could sign him in future. “At the moment he plays for Paris Saint-Germain, we’ll see in the future if that changes. I know he always said his dream is to play for Real Madrid,” Zidane said. And now former Monaco Chief Vadim has fueled these claims stating that the record European champions are Mbappe’s dream club. He went on to reveal that the player turned down a move to Madrid in 2017 as he wanted to play a little longer in France. “Kylian told me: ‘Vadim, I feel it deep inside me, it is too early [to leave France]. I have only played in my country for one year. I am Parisian and I do not want to leave my country this way. I want to be a great player here, Real can wait,” he said. “It is coming [a move to Real Madrid], but he told me that was his feeling and he was right. I told him: They will come knocking and the entire Santiago Bernabeu will applaud when you arrive. You do not need confirmation to know that,”. Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson (rtd), has died at the age of 83 years. Johnson had a glorious career in the military and was appointed as military administrator by the late military Head of State, Major Gen. Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi. Gen. Yakubu Gowon appointed Johnson as governor of Lagos State between 1966 and 1975 before he was retired by the late former Head of State, Gen. Murtala Mohammed. His administration pioneered the building of major infrastructure in Lagos State. When the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe was inaugurated as Governor General, he commanded the military Guard of Honour at the Recce Course, now Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. He was a director of Julius Berger, and later the chairman of the construction giant, for several years. Johnson was born on February 9, 1936. His wife had died several years ago but he is survived by many children and several grandchildren. After he was appointed by Aguiyi-Ironsi as the administrator of of Lagos in 1966, he embarked on the reform of the state civil service and appointed some experienced and reputable technocrats to head some sensitive departments. Some of his appointees were the Administrative Secretary, Adeyemi-Bero; Finance Secretary, Folarin Coker, and the acting secretary to the Military Government, Howson Wright. An incorruptible patriot, the late Johnson was one of the two governors, who were not found guilty of corruption by the panel set up by Murtala Mohammed to investigate the various allegations of corruption amongst the state governors.
