Saao: Hello Nairalanders Please I need your help once again. I want to go for my master next year either Bell university of technology Ota, its a private university or Unilag/lasu for my master? Which should I go for? It's self sponsored and I'm early forties.
Thank you for your contributions
Why do you want a masters Nigeria? If interested oversea, reach me I can guide you.
If you want in Nigeria then i'll suggest Bell's reason because of finishing in time as when due with no strike issue.
We are seeking a talented animator to create engaging and visually appealing animation videos for our YouTube channel. The ideal candidate will have experience in animation and video production, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
Hourly: $5-$6 Time: 3 to 6 months, Less than 30 hrs/week
Is this offer still available and how can you be reached
As per your question and this is my honest take. With the current situation of things (immigration politics, new rules) and the reality on ground (unemployment rate keep increasing). It's not sure for the anybody, especially in recent times.
But in your situation, with your proposed course of study (PhD structural engineering) which is a STEM course at PhD level. You have some advantages over the Non STEM courses.
1) You are eligible for PhD Points, and again PhD STEM which is +20 points. This means you can benefit highly from salary discounts
2) Your field is still mentioned in the TSL, Building and civil engineering technician is still available in the TSL, 3113 or 3113 I think. If you are good technically you can be lucky to get hired with little training.
3) From January as announced yesterday PSW will now be 18 months for Masters while they said PhD still remain 3 years.
4) You might be lucky to work with good academics and do some interesting research which will be beneficial for the UK. This can get you some options like Global talent visa which I am currently using in the UK which eliminate the sponsorship wahala. Like me I don't need sponsorship and I will never need for me and my dependant. PhD is the minimum requirement in Science and Engineering.
This is the bottom line, UK of today doesn't promise anybody but you still have some career advantages relative to someone studying certain courses (unfortunately these courses are lot more) which are very hard and difficult to land sponsorship roles. It is a reality.
You requested for advice and a just gave my 2 cents. We are all adult and we know the best. all the best in your career.
What would be your advice, is PhD structural engineering worth it? In present UK market, I have a supervisor already but has no fund, so will be self sponsored at Teeside
As a PhD holder and as someone who has mentored PhD candidate/students. In science engineering (that's is my area), the PhD supervisor personality himself is very important. A bad supervisor even at the best university can make student life miserable. I have seen some PhD supervisor converting student from PhD back to masters and I have seen some students who take forever to finish there programme and some never finish. And the student will be paying school fees every year. That's is why in sciences u usually identify your supervisor before you commence. Unlike MSc, your degree is usually within the domain of the supervisor and it is rigorous research.
Please, who offer SL service as proof, I'm scheduled for Preliminary review but would want to explore SL, Also does part time 20hrs/week contract still be presented as proof? I noticed SL and blocked account as the only 2 options for document uploads.
rebirthto: Ten years ago, I would have found it hard to believe that I would consider leaving Nigeria, as I have always been deeply patriotic. However, the current situation in Nigeria has led me to reassess my commitment, and I am now contemplating relocation.
I am seeking your professional guidance regarding the feasibility of relocating from Nigeria in pursuit of better opportunities, potentially through further education.
I possess a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction and Technology, along with 11 years of experience in sales and marketing, which diverges from my academic background. This has left me uncertain about the most appropriate path forward. I have several questions that I hope you can assist me with: 1. Should I pursue a master's degree aligned with my undergraduate studies or my professional experience?
2. What can I expect to achieve with a budget of 12 million naira?
3. Which countries can I consider relocating to within this budget, particularly those with accessible residency pathways and reasonable processing times?.
For your reference, I am 36 years old, married, and a father of two, though I do not plan to relocate with my family at this stage. I would appreciate any insights you can provide regarding the immigration process and potential challenges I may encounter given my situation.
Additionally, I have access to 30 million naira, which can serve as proof of funds, although it will be returned immediately upon visa approval.
My advice learn a global skill, freelance and build your client base with clients from overseas paying in hard currency. You will achieve more here and also being able to build a lasting empire, most people there are looking for access to this funds you mentioned to japada.
Hannania: If you don't have a German scholarship, E.G, DAAD, your first class preference has not been implemented yet. You have to wait like everyone else
My program is DAAD Sponsored but doesn't fall under Bachelor, Master or PhD. I emailed the embassy and I was told to book under Category A long stay student. This was like 6 months ago but it seems we now have a new portal for booking, reason I'm asking Ich
