PoliticsWhat Has GEJ Done To Lagosians ? by wola44(op): 2:07pm On Jan 12, 2015
Someone writes GOODLUCK JONATHAN has never brought any scissors to LAGOS to commission any PROJECT in his 6 years in power.....IT is the most barbaric record any PRESIDENT in NIGERIA has set concerning LAGOS.......In 6 years, ALL GEJ could offer LAGOS is 'I WILL'.....Chai.....And he has the effrontery not just to present himself to LAGOSIANS for second term but also to tell LAGOSIANS to vote out a party that has performed exceedingly and overwhelmingly well... A man whose performance is just a mirage and nothing more thinks he can tell LAGOSIANS the way to gohuh? WHEN Presidents go for campaign, their first point of call should be around the projects they intend to commission even before they proceed to the campaign arena but what do we see with JONATHAN......NOTHING.....A President with no Commissioning Scissors!

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by wola44: 1:17am On Oct 19, 2014
peace009:
Hello to all d gurus in da house.. I need a advise and assistance about my situation. Sometimes ago, I was granted my 5yrs UK visit. On gettin to heathrow I was stopped and delayed fr hrs Jst to run a check on all my previous uk visas. In nutshell, I was refused entry cuz there was inaccurate stamp date on my passport in 2011 and in my very first application in 2011, I said I have cousin and in my present application I said I don't have cousin..only friends. I have been in the UK several times after then and even early ds year. I tried to give reasons but all in vain. I refused to go back and was given appeal if I think it's a wrong decision but I couldn't do d appeal cuz d lawyer advised dt since it's not family visit, d chances of winning is very slim and will have to be in the UK whilst doing to appeal. I decided to reschedule my ticket and return on my ticket and my visa was cancelled. I was told that I can't apply until after one year and I should contact the British embassy in Nigeria if I want to make new application.

My questions are :
1) I have a valid US on my passport and have been to the US before, can I still travel there for business purpose with the UK visa cancelled without problem?

2) I know I can't apply for any UK visa until after one year according to the immigration officer in UK and was written in the refusal paper given to me. What letter do I have to put up for British embassy in Nigeria? Am I to confirm the penalty from them again and anytime I make new application, won't they refer me back to this refusal of a thing? I need your sincere advise and way to go about it.
Thanks
Question

1. Was your visa cancelled or revoked ?
2. Which Airline do you travel with ?

3sha4lyf: Hi All,
I know this may sound clichéd and must have been mentioned here or in other threads but then i cant help but reiterate this because of recent occurrences. Please peeps, be careful of who's giving you an invitation letter. Even when you have gotten your visa and on subsequent visits, be careful of who you tell the ECO you will be visiting on that visit. I mean ask questions, theres no harm in inquiring more and more from your host or the person you wanna visit on any trip before giving their names at the POE.

At a POE, i listened to interviews of people detained for reasons ranging from issues like "Why do you look sooo tired", to "when last did you see your spouse" etc. One case was a mum, and her sister, who said they would be visiting their daughter/neice. Meanwhile, she (the daughter/niece) was on a visit visa and had stayed for slightly over 6 months. Heard the officers say "Shes overstayed and has no right to be here anymore". Needless to say, I saw them invite the airline representative to bring in their bags from the carrel, asked for 2 seats on the next flight to (cant remember where) and usher both through a door that I suspected was to return them to the waiting room for "deportees" till they are ready for boarding. While they were leaving thru that door, I noticed the Officers radioing and calling out the address they gave, to the other party (their collegues) and making arrangements (probably to go to the daughter/niece's) residence, cos they said she wasnt at the airport to pick them up.

Another case I saw was a lady who wore "winter" regalia huh and when questioned (thru an interpreter), she said she was in for TOURISM. the Officer asked her several times, and even gave her a last chance to say her main visit purpose but she maintained tourism. He asked how much she had, she mentioned $10k, he asked are you pregnant, she said yes, "do u intend to give birth here", she said yes. He then said "you lied to me...I'm sending you back to China". Long story short, she begged and cried out her heart but they just called in her flight rep, brought in her luggage, ushered thru that same door, and that was it.

Also saw a student from China, guess he was in his second year, BUT from his school statement, the officer could tell he was late for resumption. when he said he had spoken with the uni, the officer asked for a mail from the uni to confirm he can come even though hes late. He couldn't provide that and was told he would be returned to china. I noticed the officer stamp his passport three times with different stamps and a call was being made of course for a flight rep.

Another case, wasnt really too sure but i could hear questions like "how long have you been with her", "when last did you see her" "how long have u been working with xyz" "do you have property" "how come youve been working at xyz for bla bla long and you dont have any properties". Then I also heard the Officer say "go and think about your story and when you are ready to tell me the truth, im here, i got all nyt". But then the passenger said "I'm British so why would I lie?" Funnily, the officer corrected "No (with low tone though, then with a higher pitch) You have a British Passport, and there are several reasons why you would lie, so go sit there and think again about your story". I was lolling inside me... His luggage was brought in but this time for a search as he was sent in through a separate door.

The last one i noticed was a man who had some traffic offence far back in the past, it was sorted out then though before he got his citizenship, but he was temporarily detained at the POE for questioning. His interview didnt last up to 2 mins so he inquired why he was detained. the officer simply reminded him of that offence and said "we need to check from time to time that you are now a good citizen".

In all, im sure there are lessons to be learnt from this. I really felt for the mum and aunt that were deported cos they looked really elderly.i could only imagine those grannies who travel 6 hrs to the UK or even 8-10 hrs to see their children. How painful it will be if they are refused entry and have to be returned to naija...another 6hrs or 8hrs trip; that's jetlag x2.

Please peeps politely ask questions from/about anyone you may visit before you mention his/her name at the POE as someone you may visit during that particular trip.

Hope someone finds this helpful.
Cheers every1

PoliticsTo Be In Opposition Requires Steadfastness, Contentment And The Will Power! by wola44(op): 2:32pm On Oct 03, 2014
IT IS NOT EASY TO BE IN OPPOSITION. Bola Ahmed Tinubu came to my mind when I heard the news of governor Mimiko of Ondo state's defection to the PDP at Abuja. Between 1999 till date since the commensement of this present democratic despensation the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has remain a factor to reckon with when we are talking of opposition party in nigeria when the going get tough only the tough get going. The recent action of Mimiko has added another rank to the profile of Jagaban of the universe whose despite all odds remain as opposition leader till date the heat the Iroko as he is fondly called can not sustain. Even Bola Tinubu was part of Mimiko's success in nigeria political history today because he stood by him both morally and financially during the time Mimiko was struggling to reclaim his stolen mandate then, all is now history. Thank you Jagaban! The leader of leaders. L.L.N.P.
MY TAKE: "PHOTOCOPY KO EASY"---9ICE.

LadyWolfe: I have drafted something: Please help review

The Entry Clearance Officer
British Deputy High Commission
Sheffield
United Kingdom

Dear Sir

RE: SHEFO/

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO CLARIFY PREVIOUS REFUSAL OF ENTRY CLEARANCE

I recently applied for the UK Visit visa but my application was refused by your Commission on the grounds of Paragraph 41(i)(ii)(vii).

The ECO, adduced that the application could not be approved because he was not satisfied that I was genuinely seeking entry as a visitor for a limited period or that I intend to leave the UK at the end of my proposed visit due to my circumstances in Nigeria. The ECO also questioned deposits to my account that he believed would not be genuinely available for the trip.

In submitting my visa application, I submitted my personal statement of account, letter of introduction from employee, salary and position information in Bleep, letter of promotion, marriage certificate, family photographs, hotel booking among other things.

In defense of my visa application, I believe the ECO has erred in his review of my initial application and make the following submission:

1. I hold a Senior role and by virtue of my position earn NXXXX every month excluding other monetary benefits that accrue to me as shown in the Letter of Salary Breakdown. I have attached a breakdown of my annual salary package. Holiday, and other allowances, due at the beginning of my annual holiday amounts to XXXX.

2. Additional information on GTB Account statement: Apart from salaries paid monthly, I earn upfront payments at varying times of the year: Some of these payments have been made into my account and accounts for the bulk of large sum deposits observed by the ECO in my initial application. They include:

a. NXXXX – Quarterly Education Payment. 3 payment have been made for the 3 quarters in 2014
b. NXXXX – Upfront Housing Payment
c. NXXXX – Productivity Payment
d. NXXXX – Warm clothing allowance

e. I also take part in a work saving scheme, where colleagues contribute a certain sum into a pool, which is then given to a particular person. Bleep is contributed every month and each individual receives Bleep every 4-5 months.

3. Additional information on First Bank Account Statement – My First Bank account functions primarily as a savings/investment account. All funds into my First Bank account have been credited from my GTB account. I have attached my GTB current account statement to provide evidence of these transfers.

4. Additional Information on GTB Pounds Sterling Account – This account attests to my savings culture as the sums therein have been saved since 2010. These sums represent saving from salaries and other allowances from my previous jobs.
5. Cost of trip: I attached in my earlier application, my travel itinerary and cost of travel to me personally. Apart from shared costs of taxi, for example, this trip is funded by each person as we both are entitled to holiday allowances at the beginning of our annual holiday.

6. I have been to several countries within and outside the Commonwealth on work and non-work related issues and at no point breached the terms of visa granted.

7. I have a stable job with prospects for growth. I also take care of my widowed mother and do not intend to breach visa conditions in the United Kingdom.

8. My husband and I have also purchased land on which we plan to build our family home.

I am of the firm belief that the ECO did not put these financial and emotional ties into consideration before reaching his/her decision. The money paid by my employer (AMCON) is meant to take care/augment my trip to the UK thus putting my in a good financial position to undertake the trip. I have social and family ties here in Nigeria, a brilliant career, working with the Federal Government of Nigeria with the full complement of retirement benefits and pension plan, a supportive family and good intention to visit the UK.

I am of the view that I meet all the requirements under the paragraph 41 of the immigration Acts as promulgated by the House of Commons of the UK and appeal that my application is reviewed fairly in light of the above information which depict financial stability and ties.

Thank you.
Nice one, You can also include below details if its applicable to you

1. Married with Kids ( include pictures )

2. Have Father & Mother in Nigeria see application form for details

3. Properties like Uncompleted 4 bedroom flat in Ibeju Lekki Lagos, construction work ongoing at the site. ( attached land document)
