Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 8:51am On Jan 30 |
Precious201010: it's almost same, let me break it down this way, many men don't usually use Thier normal suits during Thier wedding, the usual get a new one....
Secondly wedding is usually a memorable event, that wedding dress means more than a clothe... It's memory, love, decision, acceptance, vows and may more put together... your logic is not sound enough. Suits can be reusable and wedding gowns cannot be resuble often. There are several reasons why wedding gown renting is a business, you need to reason |
Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 8:46am On Jan 30 |
Precious201010: This topic is actually very sensitive, but many of u are not seeing it that way... Ok imagine u as a man renting or borrowing suit for Ur wedding... It simply means u weren't ready...
The main challenge here is money, just open up to her that u don't have the money for the new one, unless if she's going to contribute as well.....
Many at times the faults is usually from we the guys, we present ourselves to these ladies as big boys, even when we are broke we still borrow to impress them..... U too have not been very transparent with each other from the beginning, if not Ur family and her family wouldn't have known anything about it..
I once dated a lady, anytime I was to go see her, she'll be the one to send transport to me most of the time, and anytime she's coming to see me, she usually branch at the market to buy food items with her own money... And anytime I have enough, I do give her without looking back..
So still talk to her, it's not late, if not her family will start seeing u as someone that is not ready. the comparison with suit is funny. A suit is reusable, wedding gowns are most likely not. Be logical, there's a reason why renting of wedding gown is a business and renting of suit is not |

Double0h7: Technically renting the gown is not the compromise, it’s the other option: buy or rent. A good compromise would be something that requires both of you to sacrifice your options.
Are you asking whether renting a gown for your wedding day is right? Of course it’s okay because millions of people do that.
Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? That’s what it comes down to.
This is your first test as a husband. How will you resolve this conflict? lol, I will resolve it the way I just did. We are renting the gown, period |
Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 12:55am On Jan 30 |
Double0h7: It’s really very simple; can you afford to throw the wedding she wants? A girl looks forward to her wedding day. Yes, it’s only one day blah blah blah, but it’s her one day. I think if you down play it and make her feel stupid for wanting to celebrate you two becoming one then you’ll start your marriage with a resentful wife. How old is she?
You really need to be honest and transparent with her. Promise her an amazing one year anniversary or something so she feels special to you. Don’t turn your marriage into the battle of the sexes! Find a good compromise with your girl. What she wants isn’t out of the ordinary but you need to be honest with her and try to find a middle ground. Renting a wedding gown is not a good compromise? It is what it is. One need to manage women desire properly when planning for a wedding else they might ruin you. I don't care what you call it but it's fact |

And to be sincere with you, I strongly disapprove of your entire thread. You shouldn't be inviting Nairaland toxic into this very serious matter that you ought to resolve with your future wife. And I hope, no, pray you don't invite us into your marriage! Alright, advice noted |

Wedding is the ceremony of the joining of two human beings who want to commit to each other and likely create life. If you are not going gaga over it, perhaps you ain't yet ready. it's well. You just don't get it but it's well |
Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 11:40pm On Jan 29 |
budaatum: "All these wedding brouhaha"? Are you sure you are ready to get married?
Personally, I don't agree with this your "renting a gown". It makes me think of renting a husband, and I'm very certain you don't want to be rented.
I think she wants to present herself to you gift wrapped in good packaging, so she should buy the packaging with her own money instead of asking you to buy packaging for her. I want to be married by just doing the traditional wedding. I want to be in a marriage, I am not in for the whole wedding overhyping. I see beyond that wedding day |
Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 11:34pm On Jan 29 |
budaatum: You wrote "sew for herself", and not "She want to hire a tailor", which is not "want to sew for herself"!
Tell her to use her own money! No be only she dey marry!
Incidentally, how much will your own wedding dress cost?
And congratulations! sorry, my mistake. I corrected that. Her, her mom and my mom, they all want to go gaga over this wedding thing. Is it a woman thing? |
Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 11:31pm On Jan 29 |
Jakarta: Most females attach meanings to wedding gowns. Some even put it on during marriage anniversary. Some families even dress their late females in her wedding gown. I've seen and witnessed it before.
If you are on a tight budget I see no reason for sewing or buying a wedding gown, getting married, and divorcing these days is easy as a handshake. it's funny to me seriously. All these wedding brouhaha, I can't even understand why renting a gown is a bad idea aside some brouhaha |
Romance › Re: Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 11:27pm On Jan 29 |
budaatum: I think you are "the person not reasoning properly, or you at least want us to not reason properly, because I can't see where you are telling us the wedding dress she wants to sew for herself cost a "lot more money" than the ₦50, 000 you offered her.
That said, and even if it does cost a lot more money, she might be sewing her wedding dress to advertise her skills and make a lot more money, which would make a lot of sense to an entrepreneurially minded future husband that you might be. okay, I think you don't get it. She want to hire a tailor that will sew the wedding dress for 300k. She's not sewing by herself |
Romance › Is There Anything Wrong In This? by Workch(op): 11:10pm On Jan 29*. Modified: 11:34pm On Jan 29 |
I'm planning my wedding and my fiancee suggested that she wants to sew a wedding gown, and then I gave her an option to rent one for N50, 000 so I can channel the finance elsewhere. She's insisting that she will hire a tailor to sew one for her, so then I told her that I will give her the N50, 000 and that's what I can afford for the gown.
I'm doing this because I feel like it's just a day dress and allocating funds to other things will be better. Hiring a tailor to sew a new wedding gown for lot more money for just a day does not really make sense to me, especially if I still need funds for other things and she is wearing it once.
Am I the person not reasoning properly? |

How can anyone even think that this army is competent? Lol
Military personnels are been kidnapped every now and then and you think this army can crush anyone. Lol, little wonder UGM are not scared of them.
If you had a gun, will you be scared of a Niferia soldier? He's just like another untrained person with a gun.
Na gun wey no dey make some people fear them. People with guns cannot be afraid of this Nigerian army that has failed to secure the north.
They only know how to intimidate unarmed people. Lol 😂
ESN dared Buhari, a military general, na Tinubu army regime them go fear? A common civilian!?
Buhari, General could not defeat insecurities, Tinubu thinks he can. Lol.
You think everything is by force, you better learn how to resolve conflicts without force else you have another battle to deal with in the east. This army is already overstretched from every front.
As big and influential USSR was, they didn't keep agitated regions by force. It's because force is not eveything, it always does not work, instead it will keep deepening the cracks and you children will still face the same Biafra issue. |

Politics › Re: The Aba Killings: What The Military Should Have Done (opinion) by Workch: 11:51pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
nikky5: In the last two decades the Nigeria military has been fighting internal wars on several fronts. The battle against kidnappings, banditry and militia groups got messier in the last few years.
The recent killings of our soldiers in Aba few days ago when the terrorists declared a sit-at-home to celebrate their Biafra Day or whatever was avoidable.
Prior to that day, the IPOB had warned students sitting for the ongoing WAEC exams to remain in their houses and the schools shut. They also sent a warning to a university VC. They were trying to avoid a bloodbath.
I had expected our military to immediately respond to this threat in a show of force with battalion of soldiers and armoured tanks parading all the streets in the south East. I had expected to see the Tucano fighter jets in combat ready mode to forestall any breakdown of law and order. I remember President Olusegun Obasanjo.
These IPOB miscreants enjoy the support of the locals who cheers them whenever they go rampaging on the street on a killing spree. These evil people do not reneg on their threats or warnings to perpetrate evil. Besides, this is not the first time they have been killing our soldiers. The rate at which these terrorists kill our soldiers in the south east should have put our military on red alert that there will be a confrontation. Our military has been demystified by these IPOB because they have been killing our soldiers without any collateral damage. If the Odi treatment had been applied this nonsense would have stopped. In my own opinion as a civilian without any military training, it's high the military prioritize the safety of their personnel in any operations. Killers of our soldiers must not go unpunished. There must be consequences for such actions that will send a strong warning to the perpetrators that their action will invite unparalleled retaliation to their community. Killing our soldiers in an unprovoked manner like must stop. May the souls of our departed gallant soldiers rest in peace. If you provide evdiece that IPOB did it, I will commit suicide now |
