🇷🇺 Russia wants Kamala Harris to win the U.S. presidential election, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday in a teasing comment that cited her "infectious" laugh as a reason to prefer her over Donald Trump.

Putin made the ironic remark a day after the U.S. Justice Department charged two Russian media executives over an alleged illegal scheme to influence the November election with pro-Russian propaganda.

Before President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, Putin had said earlier this year - in another comment widely seen as not to be taken at face value - that he preferred Biden over Trump because the former was a more predictable "old school" politician.

U.S. intelligence agencies believe Moscow actually wants Trump to win because he is less committed to supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia.

Asked how he viewed the election now, Putin told an economic forum in Russia's far east that it was the choice of the American people.

But he then added that as Biden had recommended his supporters to back Harris, "we will do the same, we will support her".

Putin and the moderator were both smiling as he made the remark, which drew applause from the audience.

Expanding on his view of Harris, Putin said: "She laughs so expressively and infectiously that it means that everything is fine with her."

At least 4 people are believed to have been killed and approximately 30 more were injured in the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, although it’s unclear how many of the injuries are from gunshot wounds, according to law enforcement sources.

Two students and two teachers were killed in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, according to Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey.

Another nine people have been taken to hospitals with injuries, Hosey said. The shooter, who is a 14-year-old student at the school, is in custody.

All schools in the district were placed in lockdown, and police were sent out of an abundance of caution to all district high schools, but there are no reports of secondary incidents or scenes, according to the sources.

Some of the critically injured were removed by helicopter, and additional helicopters are on standby.

A Beluga Whale nicknamed Hvaldimir, after his strange harness prompted suspicions he was a 🇷🇺 Russian spy, has been found dead in the southwest of Norway.

The whale’s carcass was discovered floating off Risavika Bay in southern Norway on Saturday by a father and son who were out fishing, Norwegian public broadcaster NRK reported.

Hvaldimir, a combination of the Norwegian word for whale, “hval”, and the first name of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, was first spotted off Norway’s far northern coast in 2019.

His man-made harness, with what appeared to be a mount for a camera stamped with the words “Equipment St Petersburg”, fuelled speculation that he was a “spy whale“.

Norwegian officials said Hvaldimir may have escaped an enclosure and been trained by the Russian navy as he appeared to be accustomed to humans.

Moscow has never responded to the speculation.
