⚡China launches military manoeuvres around Taiwan in wake of election, FT reports. China has staged its largest military manoeuvres around Taiwan in three weeks, in its first active response to the election of Lai Ching-te as the country’s president last weekend. The People’s Liberation Army conducted joint air and naval combat patrols near Taiwan on Wednesday night, with 24 PLA aircraft and five PLA Navy vessels operating in the area, Taiwan’s defence ministry said. According to the ministry, “11 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait or entered Taiwan’s south-west and north air defence identification zone”.

The remarks come amid media reports that China’s top official shot down Zelensky’s request for a meeting at the event. The Premier is not the person calling the shots in China, Zelensky asserted, suggesting Li was not a high enough official to be worth meeting altogether.

⚡A US mercenary has confirmed a Russian missile strike targeted foreign mercenaries' location in Kharkov, by posting photos of its aftermath, Sputnik has learned Retired US officer Daniel Ridley, founder of Trident Defense Initiative mercenary group, which we have previously unmasked, seemingly posted photos of the ruined building as the aftermath of Russian Armed Forces airstrike on his social media. As such, he confirmed the information provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense. "Kharkov medical institutions are overcrowded with wounded AFU servicemen. They are also being taken to civilian hospitals. Many are lying in the corridors because there are no more places in the wards," said a representative of the operational services. ⚡The Ethiopian Air Force has received two Su-30K fighters. At the same time, there were no earlier reports of a contract for the delivery of Russian-made combat aircraft to this country. Both aircraft were part of a batch of 18 fighters previously operated by the Indian Air Force, but returned to Russia in 2011 in exchange for new Su-30MKIs. For a long time, these "Indian" aircraft were stored at a repair facility in Belarus, but in 2017, 12 of them were purchased by Angola. Now the remaining six are apparently going to Ethiopia. Effectively Russia has managed to sell relatively old aircraft to not the most conventional customers. |
