Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) conducted a major prisoner swap operation, the largest exchange operation since World War II. The operation began when the US, Russia, and Germany requested Türkiye's assistance. Türkiye was chosen due to its fair and constructive policy in the Russia-Ukraine war and past successes in mediation. MIT officials frequently met with involved parties. MIT Chief Ibrahim Kalın had multiple face-to-face and phone conversations with counterparts. MIT resolved parties' concerns, disagreements, and demands through fair and constructive solutions. Execution of the Operation: Took place on August 1st at Ankara Esenboğa Airport. MIT ensured necessary security measures without disrupting regular airport operations. The swap began at 16.05 with the arrival of the first plane from Slovenia. Involved planes from Slovenia, Norway, Russia, Germany, and the US. 26 individuals were exchanged in total. Russia received 10 individuals and handed over 16. MIT oversaw mutual confirmation processes and health checks. 10 individuals boarded a Russian plane to Moscow. 3 individuals boarded a US plane to Washington. 13 individuals boarded a German plane.
