⚡The situation in Ukraine may soon enter the next stage where peace talks are possible, writes the Chinese newspaper Global Times.

"As another [AFU] counter-offensive is unlikely due to its huge financial, physical and strategic costs, a window for the resumption of peace talks may soon open," the newspaper's columnist predicted.

According to his assessment, the November statement by AFU commander-in-chief Valeriy Zaluzhny on the deadlock in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict was followed by problems with the US Congress's approval of new military aid for Ukraine. In addition, Kiev and its Western partners have made a series of strategic miscalculations, the article stresses.

Defence Minister Richard Marles, who said in July transferring the aircraft was “complicated”, was non-committal when asked about a fresh approach.
