A doctor has advised Nigerians and religious leaders to stop demonizing Caesarean Section (CS) because there's nothing wrong with it.

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has terminated a road contract in Aguata Local Government Area, over alleged incompetence and delay in delivery by the contractor.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday in Sokoto State, instructed the Nigerian armed forces to remain apolitical ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Buhari also urged them to continue to operate within the framework of the constitution to ensure the successful conduct of next year’s general elections.

Declaring open this year’s Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference, Buhari called on the Army to continue to improve their human rights duties during operations in line with global best practices.

This was disclosed in a statement by Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina.

On human rights, President Buhari described improved duties by security agencies on this issue as “the major pathway for winning the hearts and minds of the people.”

On the 2023 general elections, the Nigerian leader noted that it’s imperative that the Army and the armed forces, in general, support the civil authority by providing a peaceful environment to allow its successful conduct.

Brazil football legend Pele has been rushed to hospital in Sao Paulo over cardiac-related complications, Daily Mail reported.

The health of the legendary star has reportedly deteriorated after he was hospitalized for swollen body.

Pele, 82, who is currently undergoing treatment for metastatic cancer, went into the Albert Einstein hospital on Tuesday in an unscheduled visit, taken there by his wife Marcia Aokoi.

Reports have it that, medical staff at the hospital confirmed his condition of general swelling, medically referred to as anasarca.

It was also gathered that the chemotherapy treatment for his cancer is no longer working, while he was also diagnosed with mental confusion upon entering the hospital, where he was restless as he is set to undergo several tests today to further assess his condition.

It is an extremely worrying time for the medical staff, Pele's family as well as the footballing population of Brazil with a particular worry over how his cancer treatment is not working.

The Federal High Court, Abuja has sentenced the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, to three months in prison for disobeying a court order.

The order was followed by a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/637/2009 filed by a former police officer, Patrick Okoli who claimed he was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the Nigeria Police Force in June 1992.

A Bauchi high court on Saturday, February 19, 1994, delivered judgment in favour of Okoli and quashed the letter of compulsory retirement and ordered that the applicant be reinstated with all rights and privileges.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in a letter dated Wednesday, October 13, 2004, directed the then-IGP to reinstate the applicant and issue a recommendation for promotion in accordance with the decision of the court.

Consequently, Okoli is requesting the court seeking an order of mandamus to compel the enforcement of the order of the Bauchi state high court and the directives of the PSC.

The Abuja federal high court delivered its judgment in favour of the applicant on Friday, October 21, 2011. Meanwhile, the office of the IGP appealed the federal high court judgment but the appeal was dismissed.

Justice M. O. Olajuwon on Tuesday ruled that the IGP has disobeyed a court order made on October 21, 2011, and should therefore be detained in custody for a period of three months, or until Baba obeys the order.

The judge said; "It is unfortunate that the chief enforcer of the law is one who has deliberately refused to comply with the same law. It is important to state that obedience to orders of the court is fundamental to the good order, peace and stability of a nation,"

Honeypot Ants, or honey ants, are specialized workers of several species of ants whose sole job is to gorge on nectar until they become living honey-storage.

Several other species of bees, as well as bumblebees and even wasps are known to produce the sugary treat, but perhaps the most unusual insect able to convert nectar into honey is the honeypot ant.

Belonging to a number of ant species, the most common of which is Camponotus inflatus, honeypot ants are specialized workers that act as living storage for their colonies when food is scarce.

Worker ants feed honeypots nectar collected from various plants until their abdomens expand to the point where they look ready to burst and spill the amber liquid inside. Known as ‘ant honey’, the sweet liquid is regurgitated by the honeypot ants whenever members of their colonies are in need of sustenance.

Species like Camponotus inflatus constantly feed honeypot ants with honeydew and flower nectar. At one point, the honey ants’ abdomens become so big that they are unable to move, so they just hang from the roof of their nest chamber until their fellow ants require their precious cargo.

Most species of honeypot ants are found in dry, desert, or semi-arid regions in Australia, the USA, Mexico, and on the African continent, where finding food sources can be tough, so the production and storage of honey is believed to be an adaptation to survive in these rough environments.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a request seeking to nullify the candidature of Bola Tinubu for the 2023 election.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) dragged the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer to court.

Suit no. FHC/UM/CS/124/2022 joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the first defendant.

The former Lagos governor is the second defendant, and the ruling APC the third defendant.

The plaintiff argued that Tinubu allegedly submitted to the 1st defendant false information in his form EC9.

They said he failed to include his primary and secondary education in his form CF001 of 1999, submitted ahead of the gubernatorial election.

The APP cited section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022 and 131 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.

APC counsel, Babatunde Ogala filed a notice of preliminary objection, insisting the suit was statute barred and that the APP had no locus standi.

APC campaign spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga said the plaintiff was not in court when the matter came up before Justice Emeka Nwite.

A 14-year-old girl (name withheld) has accused her father of raping her repeatedly, alleging that he threatened to poison her whenever she refuses to give in to his constant sexual demands.

The minor who lives at Olosan area of Ayegun Community in Ibadan, Oyo State, pleaded with a vigilante group, Oluyole Security Surveillance Team (OSST) to take her out of her father’s house before he would destroy her.

The OSST commandant, Olusegun Idowu, who confirmed the girl’s plea to the Nigerian Tribune, said that the girl and her father were brought to the group’s office where the girl opened up on her father’s deeds.

THE Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has raised concerns over the delay in the induction of 74 medical students who graduated from the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma Edo State.

The affected students are of the class of 2013, meaning they have been in medical school for nine years.

A letter dated November 14, 2022, signed by the state Chairman and Secretary of the association, Dr. Imoisili Udoka and Dr Otoikhila Oikere, respectively, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, the NMA said it decided to write to the university to make the enquiries as a result of an appeal to it by the affected students.

Part of the letter read: “We have it on good authority that this batch of students (74 in number) had their final examination (Part IV MBBS examination) between 18th and 29th April 2022 with 31 students passing and a re-sit examination conducted between 27th August 2022 and 8th September 2022 with 39 students passing, bringing the total to 70 students passing the final examination.

“The official results of these examinations (both the main and the re-sit) have since been released by your institution.

“However, much to the chagrin and frustration of these students, the induction ceremony, which ordinarily should have been conducted without delay by your institution in collaboration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), has dragged on endlessly without any glimmer of hope to have it done by your institution.

“We also have information that the students were made to pay a certain amount of money in order to fulfill the conditions given by the MDCN for accreditation purposes of the medical school of your institution.

“It is on this background that the Edo State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) is writing to you sir, to use your good offices to ensure that the induction ceremony for this group of students is done without further delay, as this worrisome delay is depriving these graduating class from further pursuing their career in medical practice and significantly impacting negatively on their psychological health.”

“We actually met an over-bloated population in the place and currently we are not allowed to admit.

The Nobel Prize-winning author, Wole Soyinka has stated that he does not require a religion and does not worship any gods, stating that he does not practice any religion and is not a follower of any religion, including Christianity, Islam, or Orisa.
