Well, there's nothing anyone can do about someone who is bent on mischief. You have been corrected but remain adamant. I don't have to dwell on that. Kobojunkie: |
For someone who claims to have read the Qur’an and Hadith, you surely haven't learnt one of the most basic words you should know, have you? Kobojunkie: |
Nothing like that in Islam. A follower of the religion of Islam is a Muslim. I thought everyone knew that basic information. Kobojunkie: |
Mohammedans? What's that? Kobojunkie: |
On one side, there’s constant negative framing of Islam in media and online spaces: cherry-picked events, bad actors treated as representatives, fear-based narratives, and outright misinformation. That stuff sticks because outrage travels faster than context. On the other side, that same noise actually pushes some people to look deeper. When people slow down and read the Qur’an, talk to Muslims they trust, or study Islamic history and ethics, many realize the caricature doesn’t match the reality. Curiosity kicks in. For some, that curiosity turns into genuine conviction. A few things can be true at the same time: Some people want Islam to look dangerous or backward. Media incentives reward sensationalism over accuracy. Islam emphasizes discipline, meaning, community, and purpose, things a lot of people feel are missing. When people investigate for themselves, propaganda loses power. History shows this pattern a lot: the more something is attacked, the more scrutiny it gets and scrutiny doesn’t always help the attackers. Why Islam gets so much hostility: A few forces stack on top of each other: 1. It refuses to assimilate quietly Islam isn’t just a private belief system; it shapes daily life—prayer, diet, modesty, finance, family. Secular societies are fine with religions that stay symbolic. Islam doesn’t do “background mode,” and that makes power structures uncomfortable. 2. Colonial hangover + geopolitics A lot of today’s narratives are leftovers from colonial eras, later reinforced by modern wars and global politics. When states need public support for conflict, it’s convenient to flatten an entire religion into a villain. 3. Bad actors + lazy framing Every group has extremists. Islam is one of the only religions where extremists are routinely framed as representative. One crime → entire faith questioned. That double standard is doing a lot of work. 4. Islam critiques the system Islam challenges: - unchecked materialism - interest-based economies - sexual commodification - moral relativism When a belief system says “not everything you desire is good for you,” people who benefit from the opposite narrative push back hard. Why people still keep converting This part is actually fascinating. 1. Clarity in a confused world Islam is very clear about: who God is why you’re here what’s right and wrong what responsibility looks like For people drowning in “everything is subjective,” that clarity feels like oxygen. 2. Direct relationship with God No intermediaries. No inherited guilt. No mystery Trinity math. Just you and Allah. That simplicity hits hard for a lot of seekers. 3. Discipline = freedom (paradoxically) Prayer, fasting, limits—on paper it looks restrictive. In practice, many converts say it gives them structure, peace, and self-respect they didn’t have before. 4. Community that actually shows up Mosques, charity, shared rituals. Especially in individualistic societies, that sense of belonging is powerful. 5. Propaganda backfires When people are told “don’t look there”, some inevitably do. And once they read the Qur’an themselves, the cartoon villain falls apart. The irony The loudest critics often know Islam only through headlines. Many converts come in hostile, skeptical, even Islamophobic—and convert because they checked the sources themselves. So yeah: People try hard to give Islam a bad name. And somehow, it keeps spreading anyway. |
IQ? Hmmmm....0. Na people like this propaganda dey catch. Just put it on TV or social media and watch their sponge-brain soak it all up and regurgitate. Freshandfitpod: |
You lot were born to complain. It's in your DNA. Freshandfitpod: |
I would be traumatized too if I had to follow the bandwagon of ignorance. Freshandfitpod: |
Is comprehension difficult for you or you just choose to be obtuse? LagosOrigin: |
Religious innovation (Bida'h) is frowned upon and not encouraged by any means. You cannot add or remove from the religion because it favors or doesn't favour you or because there's a different trend so you want to go with the flow. Knowledge seeking that helps improve self and society is encouraged. Islam has nothing against technological innovation and creativity. Example: Obligatory prayers for Muslims is 5 times a day and at specific times and manner. No one can say the prayer is now 3 times a day or 6 times or alter the recitations. These are the types innovations that are haram. That is why Muslims world over of different races and languages can pray together in congregation without any confusion. NaijaCowFarm: |

Just goes to show the kind of people they are. I mean, what more would you expect from anyone who gets excited whenever there is negative news about their country? dermmy: |
Which one should we condemn? The one lobbyists were paid to help push some irredeemable people's agenda? Quite interestingly, people hope to sustain the claims because they're using it to seek asylum abroad and ofcourse hope those lies would destabilise the country. God pass una. Na disgrace una go always see. Nigeria would be stronger than ever. Any individual or group, male or female, young or old, Muslim, Christian, Traditionalist, atheist, agnostic, etc that wishes to bring this country to disrepute shall be disgraced. LagosOrigin: |
I am sincerely ashamed of those who keep screaming that agents have been engaged to destroy opposition parties. I never heard the CPC, ACN, or APC make such childish complaints. Do you realize how weak this makes the present crop of opposition look? Politics, like life, does not reward whining. When things don’t go your way, you restrategize. You build alliances around a common goal. Something has to give, there is only one presidential slot but when no one is willing to step down for the other, infighting begins, and suddenly the blame is shifted outward. Instead of looking for imaginary enemies, why not look inward and confront the root causes of these recurring internal feuds? BAT stood in opposition against one of the most unforgiving political forces imaginable, yet he never went crying like a baby. He stayed focused, kept building formidable alliances, opened up Lagos through infrastructure, and worked patiently toward a common objective. Love him or hæte him, one thing is undeniable: he is a master strategist. Olu1000: |
How is he stifling them? Is he meant to teach them basic politics? If they're not seasoned enough to get their acts together, how is that his fault? Fiscus105: |

Wo, the unpatriotic hâters of Nigeria never see anything yet. Nigeria will emerge triumphant. They'll swallow their words. Helpfromabove1: |
Comprehension is extremely difficult for the ignorant. Stop writing, you keep exposing your stewpideety. Freedom4us: |
Nigeria is an unbelievably special country. She shall always prevail, and her enemies shall always be put to shame. Ignominy will befall all those citizens and collaborators alike who exploit the nation’s insecurity to advance selfish agendas. They will yet witness Nigeria rise, triumphant again and again and again.. Mark my words, despite all the treachery and deception, Nigeria would keep standing strong, solid, undeterred like the Iroko tree. CyynthiaKiss: |

These guys names were miraculously omitted. I've helped you include them. LadyLegalEagle:

Nothing is as pathetic as a people who always lie to themselves. The first step to finding a solution is realising that there is a problem. Someday, you guys would be humble enough to accept your mistakes and make the necessary amendments. Only then, would your land become habitable by your own people, as well as attract investors for development. Stop cutting your nose to spite your face. Mrexcell: |
Lies! You guys wanted to cause chaos in your land because you thought in your usual myopic thinking that it was going to destabilise Buhari's govt. However, it backfired and the monster you were feeding grew out of control and started to devour you in the name of ipob, esn, ugm. You guys would learn the hard way that nothing good comes from håte and dəstruction. Mrexcell: |
These statements make me feel so sorry for you guys. You never search inwards to find the root cause of your problems as well as a lasting solution. Rather, you chest beat with ignorance and arrogance, blaming others for the woes you brought upon yourselves. Accountability is something you lots have never and would never learn. Quit the blame game! Guyman02: |
I agree. I blame those who left their impoverished lands to make a mess of Lagos. Zonefree: |
Most people aren't knowledgeable and need to read more and rely less on mainstream media for information. muyico: |
Oh, so you now know human error exists because it's not Nigeria, right? How convenient! I don't understand how a group of people can h@tɛ themselves so much. Perhaps low self-esteem? Lzkdy: |
