"Football On Water: Lagos Tourism Sets Examples, Garnering Praises from Celebs.

In a historic move, the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture screened the Super Eagles' football match against Ivory Coast live on water.

MTAC, determined to showcase the beauty of Lagos's aquatic splendor, sailed on a barge with notable personalities such as the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Bolanle Ninalowo, Cute Abiola, Small Doctor, Nkechi Blessing, Destalker, Noble Igwe, Dare Art Alade, Enyinna Nwigwe, Jimmy Hypeman, Bianca Ugowanne, NBS, Hadiza Abubarka, Yhemolee, DJ Neptune, and others.

The brain behind the initiative, Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, emphasized the significance of showcasing the various pleasures and unforgettable tourism experiences Lagos can offer. He highlighted the live viewing of the Super Eagles' match on water, termed 'Sail and Cheer,' as a unique example.

A beautifully decorated barge sailed around the exotic Lagos coastline, accompanied by music from Nigeria's foremost DJ Neptune, and Jimmie hyping all the way on water. Notable Nollywood, music, and comedy stars were present.

DJ Neptune exclaimed, 'The event is historic and sets examples on how to explore the tourism potential of a state. Football on water—something like this has never been done in Lagos before. It speaks volumes about the Lagos Ministry of Tourism. Other states should look inward and explore their tourism potentials. Kudos to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for appointing smart people. It's commendable that Deputy Governor Mr. Obafemi Hamzat graced the occasion alongside the Ivory Coast ambassador.'

Adding to the praises, Bianca Ugowanne said, 'Lagos continues to amaze with innovative ideas. Watching football on water is a delightful experience, showcasing the city's uniqueness.'

Ninolowo, Eyinna, and Dare Arts Alade also lauded the event, emphasizing its positive impact on promoting Lagos's tourism potential.

According to Aregbe, Sail and Cheers is an initiative of the State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, meant to highlight the beauty of Lagos's exotic coastline. He expressed his prayers for the Super Eagles to bring the cup home.

Nairaland GeneralSego Lied Against Sanwo-olu-source by xtogramng(op): 2:17pm On Dec 31, 2023
Sego lied Against Sanwo-Olu-Source

A source closely connected to Governor Sanwo-Olu and influential figures in Lagos refutes the claim that anyone in the Lagos State Government endorsed the NURTW state treasurer to disrupt MC Oluomo's second term and assume the role of state chairman.

According to the source, Sego's assertion is a mere product of his imagination. Sego has been spreading the falsehood that the governor instructed him to take over as NURTW chairman, interfering with MC Oluomo's second term. I can definitively state that this is untrue. The governor never issued such instructions to Sego, an Exco member recently sworn in. Sego must produce official communication or video evidence supporting his claims. In fact, attributing statements to individuals on camera that they did not make could constitute a criminal offense. The state government intends to summon Sego to provide evidence of the governor's alleged statements.

I also doubt that the Speaker of the House and the Chief of Staff, both appointed by the governor, endorsed these claims. Sego should not rely on fabricated lies to pursue his ambitious agenda of disrupting a legally constituted executive without substantiating evidence. When the government announced Park Management or its dissolution, there were official press releases. Where is the press release announcing Sego?

Fortunately, Sego made these claims on video, compelling him to defend his statements.

The Attempted Coup Against MC Oluomo by Sego

Two months ago, MC Oluomo and other state executives were inaugurated for a second term, following the ratification of their second term by all branch chairmen. MC Oluomo took the oath of office alongside Kudeti as vice chairman, Sego as treasurer, and Kokozaria as deputy treasurer.

However, a recent development threatens to disrupt MC Oluomo's second term. Sego, the treasurer, expressed his ambition to become the president and urged MC Oluomo to contest for the position of national president. Sego's plan was to surpass the vice chairman, Kudeti, and take over the position of state chairman.

In response, sensing a coup, MC Oluomo announced that he no longer intended to contest for the position of national chairman but aimed to fulfill his role as the state Chairman of NURTW and complete his second term. Unfortunately, this announcement led to MC's lieutenants turning against him and instigating state chairmen to follow suit.

Currently, Sego is rallying members of NURTW to incite conflict and insisting that MC must not complete his second term. The question arises: where is it written in the association's constitution that MC should be prevented from completing his term?

Sego's confidence seems to stem from his assumed closeness with Seyi Tinubu, the son of the president. He has been spreading rumors in town that Governor SanwoOlu, Speaker House of Assembly RT. Hon. Idowu Obasa, Chief of Staff, Hakeem Muri-Okunola (Principal Private Secretary to the president), and President Tinubu have given directives for MC to go to Abuja as the National Chairman, while Sego should assume the position of state chairman.

The significant question here is when and where did the aforementioned individuals make such statements, and how does Sego justify spreading claims that these elected officers would pronounce decisions to truncate the tenure of another elected officer, especially within the transport union?
Now, that he said he must be chairman of state transport union by force without MC and his exco completing the second term tenure, what will he do if he doesn't get his way?
