Good morning, Seun. It is not my intention to call out a moderator who does his/her job but this, for me, seems to be a way of addressing what seems unfair, abuse of power and autocratic. Please permit me to detail the event a bit for better understanding.

I have a registered digital creative agency and I spend my time on the forum advertising our services in the webmasters section. I had never thought I was breaking any rule when I realized my threads were posted in the section. However, I started noticing they were being pushed to the webmarket. Knowing this, I created another thread in the webmaster section again and I received a ban in the webmaster section for violating rule 6. It was at this time I got to know I had indeed violated a rule, so I thought the ban was justified and clear.

I tried appealing the ban and messaged the moderator privately, apologizing to unban the handle with the promise that a violation of such will never stem from the handle but appeal seemed a failure.

To be fair on Mukina2, a new handle in my business name violated the rule again three days later, albeit absent mindedly. I got a 10-year ban in the process and and created another with the intention that I will stick to advertising in the webmarket, which I did but would comment on threads of people needing a particularly service. I never spammed or created any unnecessary attention.

The crux

Yesterday, I created a thread in the webmarket section and about 30 minutes later, posted why SEO is crucial to brands and business in the digital age, and how business owners can leverage on it as well as its benefits and then hinted that we create certain SEO services just at the last paragraph. About an hour later the handle was banned for 10 years for 'advertising'. I thought this was harsh and mailed the moderator privately with the below exact words:

Hello, Mukina2.

I just realised my handle has been banned unjustly, with the reason being that this handle advertised in a place it is not supposed to.

The handle's only ad is in the webmarket section and the most recent posted content was an SEO post about why businesses need it, and that is it.

Perhaps this was an oversight and a mistake on your part, please, this very handle has not in any way violated the forum's rules.

Kindly please unban as the ban is perceived as unfair, unjust and wrong.

It is one thing getting punished for violating the rules, it is another getting punished for not doing so.

Please assist here.

I never received a response on this and I modified the same content and directed at the supermods to investigate whether or not I had done wrong. I never got a feedback from them either but never battled an eyelid.

To my dismay, I discovered, just this morning that ALL OF MY POSTS ON SEO SERVICES on the forum, including the one posted in the webmarket had been hidden or deleted! Please note the threads on SEO created by previously banned handles and most recent had been hidden and deleted. The content of this service never violated any rule. The industries my agency cater for as well as verticals were detailed and not in any way offensive. And this came after I appealed a ban on an handle.

Perhaps it is a crime or a wrong idea to message moderators or even appeal a ban when it is perceived to be wrong. Perhaps I offended the moderator in question without knowing it or something seems to be off.

My business has never been labelled or called out for fraud. I have gladly taken up projects and delivered them in record time and I have clients who have been more than excited with the quality of we development projects that have been delivered.

I had created a "thank you"/"review" thread one time to appreciate those who trusted me with their projects and before an hour later, it was deleted for no reason.

So many handles are running riot on the webmaster section with ads right now and some threads have been up since three days and counting and they have been untouched. I hate to claim this, but it looks like my agency is being targeted.

I don't think it is out of place to be warned by the moderator on my own thread for any wrongdoing. I will gladly heed.

Perhaps I might get banned again for posting this, perhaps not. I bear no ill will against anyone, never gotten into an scuffle. All some of us want to do is focus on business without having to give anyone a tough time, or difficult moment. The moderator might be doing his/her job but completely deleting threads that takes several hours to draft and craft is somewhat disturbing.
