CrimeEx-banker Docked Over Alleged N294.5 Million Theft In Lagos by yaroinsider(op): 10:54pm On Jul 09
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a former banker before a Lagos State High Court over the alleged theft of N294.5 million.

According to the anti-graft agency, the defendant was brought before the court by the Lagos Zonal Directorate on charges bordering on stealing and the alleged unlawful conversion of funds. The case is part of the commission’s continuing efforts to prosecute financial crimes and recover diverted assets.

EFCC outlines allegations

The commission told the court that the defendant allegedly diverted funds amounting to N294.5 million while working within the banking sector.

Prosecutors argued that the alleged acts contravened relevant provisions of Nigerian law relating to theft and financial misconduct. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Following the arraignment, the prosecution requested a trial date, while the defence sought bail for the accused.

Court adjourns proceedings

The court subsequently adjourned the matter to a later date for the hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial.

The EFCC has maintained that it will continue to pursue cases involving financial crimes, particularly those linked to abuse of trust within financial institutions.

Crackdown on financial crimes continues

The arraignment comes amid a series of prosecutions involving alleged fraud, theft and money laundering across different parts of the country.

In recent months, the commission has brought several suspects before courts in Lagos and other states over allegations involving hundreds of millions of naira in diverted funds and fraudulent transactions.

The case is expected to proceed once the court concludes consideration of the defendant’s bail request and sets a date for substantive hearing.

PoliticsAtiku Warns Tinubu Government Over Peter Obi’s Safety Ahead Of 2027 Election by yaroinsider(op): 8:47pm On Jul 09
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government against any action that could endanger former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential hopeful Peter Obi.

Atiku issued the warning on Thursday amid rising political tensions ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election, insisting that the safety of opposition figures is a critical test of the country’s democracy.

Atiku raises concerns over opposition safety

According to reports, Atiku stated that “nothing must happen” to Obi, stressing that the Federal Government has a constitutional responsibility to ensure the security of all political actors regardless of party affiliation.

The former vice president argued that democratic systems are strengthened when opposition leaders can freely participate in political activities without fear of intimidation or threats.

His remarks come as political parties and emerging coalitions intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election, which is expected to be one of the most closely contested elections in recent Nigerian history.

Growing political activity ahead of 2027

Nigeria’s political landscape has witnessed increased activity as major opposition figures position themselves for the next election cycle.

Peter Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election, has remained one of the country’s most prominent opposition voices and has continued to attract significant public attention ahead of 2027.

Atiku, meanwhile, remains a central figure within the opposition camp as political alliances and coalition discussions continue across multiple parties.

Tinubu government yet to respond

As of the time of reporting, there was no immediate official response from the Presidency regarding Atiku’s latest comments.

The statement adds to the growing political discourse surrounding the 2027 election, with opposition leaders increasingly calling for a level playing field and stronger democratic safeguards as campaigns gradually gather momentum.

What happens next?

With less than a year before Nigerians head to the polls in January 2027, political observers expect campaign activities, coalition negotiations and policy debates to intensify across the country.

The latest intervention by Atiku underscores the increasingly heated political atmosphere as major contenders seek to shape the narrative ahead of what promises to be a pivotal election for Africa’s most populous nation.

CrimeZamfara Governor Reveals Bandits Kidnapped His Brothers, Demanded N300 Million R by yaroinsider(op): 5:40pm On Jul 09
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has disclosed that bandits once abducted two of his brothers and demanded a ransom of N300 million for their release.

The governor made the revelation while speaking about the security challenges confronting Zamfara and other states in Nigeria’s North West region, where kidnapping for ransom remains a major threat to residents.

Governor recounts kidnapping ordeal

According to Lawal, the abductors contacted the family after the kidnapping and demanded N300 million before releasing the victims.

The governor’s remarks underscore how deeply the security crisis has affected communities in Zamfara, including families of public officials.

Kidnapping for ransom has become one of the most persistent security challenges in the state, with armed groups operating across several local government areas and targeting farmers, traders, community leaders and travellers.

Zamfara remains at the centre of banditry crisis

Zamfara has experienced years of attacks linked to armed bandit groups. Security experts and government officials have repeatedly identified the state as one of the worst-hit areas in Nigeria’s banditry crisis.

Recent incidents have included mass abductions, village raids and attacks on communities attempting to negotiate peace with armed groups. In June 2026, dozens of residents were reportedly abducted during a peace mission in Maradun Local Government Area.

The violence forms part of a broader conflict that has affected several states across northwestern Nigeria, leading to thousands of deaths and displacements over the past decade.

Renewed calls for stronger security measures

The governor’s disclosure comes amid ongoing efforts by federal and state authorities to curb insecurity through military operations, intelligence gathering and community-based interventions.

Despite these efforts, attacks and kidnappings continue to pose significant challenges across parts of Zamfara and neighbouring states.

Security analysts have repeatedly warned that addressing the crisis will require a combination of military action, improved intelligence, economic development and stronger protection for vulnerable rural communities.

As authorities continue their campaign against armed groups, residents across the region remain hopeful for lasting solutions to a crisis that has disrupted livelihoods and threatened public safety for years.

Nairaland General10 Responsible Gambling Rules Everyone Should Follow by yaroinsider(op): 11:14pm On Jul 08
For millions of people around the world, gambling is a form of entertainment. However, without clear limits, it can quickly become harmful, affecting finances, relationships and mental well-being.

Experts say responsible gambling is about staying in control, understanding the risks and treating betting as a leisure activity rather than a way to make money.

Here are 10 important rules every gambler should follow.

1. Gamble for entertainment, not income

Never view gambling as a reliable way to earn money. The outcome of games is uncertain, and losses are part of the experience.

2. Set a spending limit

Decide how much money you can afford to lose before you start playing. Once you reach that limit, stop gambling, regardless of whether you are winning or losing.

3. Set a time limit

Plan how long you intend to gamble and stick to that schedule. Spending excessive time gambling can increase financial losses and disrupt daily responsibilities.

4. Accept that losses are possible

Every gambling activity carries risk. Accepting that losses may occur helps prevent unrealistic expectations and poor financial decisions.

At all! Nigeria would have embarrassed us too much. All the African teams cooked well except Tunisia but Tunisia didn't concede a goal during qualification like Super Eagles.
who would Nigeria have played better than? Cape Verde? lol or the Congo that won u over and drew Portugal that trashed us exactly a day before the World cup. Don't even talk of S.A that topped the group
It’s a tough pill to swallow, but looking at the stats, it’s hard to argue with this reality check. The inconsistency has been our biggest issue for a while.
Foreign AffairsIran Claims 85 Strikes On US Military Sites In Bahrain And Kuwait As Middle East by yaroinsider(op): 9:35am On Jul 08
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has carried out a large-scale missile and drone operation targeting 85 US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, describing the attacks as retaliation for overnight American strikes on Iranian territory.

According to a statement carried by Iranian state media, the operation was launched jointly by the IRGC’s naval and aerospace forces after the United States struck more than 80 targets inside Iran. Tehran accused Washington of violating an existing ceasefire arrangement and vowed to respond decisively.

The IRGC also claimed that Iranian air defenses shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over southern Iran during the confrontation. Iranian media further reported that a member of the IRGC Navy was killed in what it described as an enemy drone attack.

Air raid sirens were activated in Bahrain, while Kuwait said its armed forces responded to incoming missile and drone threats. Regional authorities have not immediately released detailed assessments of damage or casualties.

US Central Command confirmed it had carried out strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets, saying the operation was in response to attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. American officials said the strikes were aimed at imposing “heavy costs” on Iran for threatening international shipping.

Iran, however, rejected the US justification, insisting Washington’s military action breached previous understandings between the two countries. Iranian officials also argued that continued regional hostilities had undermined diplomatic efforts to stabilize the Gulf.

The renewed exchange of fire has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict involving Gulf states that host US military installations. Bahrain is home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, while Kuwait hosts several major American military bases.

As of publication, Iran’s claims about the scale and effectiveness of the strikes have not been independently verified, and US authorities have not confirmed the reported number of sites hit or any resulting damage. The situation remains fluid, with both sides continuing to exchange accusations over responsibility for the latest escalation.

SportsCould Nigeria’s Super Eagles Have Reached The World Cup Knockout Stage? by yaroinsider(op): 8:55am On Jul 08
As the 2026 FIFA World Cup enters its decisive stages, the absence of Nigeria’s Super Eagles continues to frustrate football fans, especially as several African nations have impressed on the global stage.

The debate has intensified following growing suggestions that, with the quality available to head coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria could have progressed beyond the group stage and even challenged for a place in the quarter-finals had they qualified.

Nigeria failed to qualify for the expanded 48-team tournament after a disappointing start to the qualifying campaign under former coaches José Peseiro and Finidi George. Although Chelle revived the team’s fortunes after taking charge, leading the Super Eagles to a strong finish, the recovery came too late to secure automatic qualification, and Nigeria eventually fell short in the playoffs.

Despite missing out on the tournament, many observers believe the current Super Eagles squad is one of the strongest Nigeria has assembled in years.

In goal, Maduka Okoye has emerged as a dependable first choice, while Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo provide quality competition. Defensively, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Igoh Ogbu and Emmanuel Fernandez have added stability and depth.

The midfield features experienced campaigners alongside emerging talents, while the attack boasts one of Africa’s most feared partnerships in Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. The availability of players such as Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare and Akor Adams further strengthens Nigeria’s attacking options.

The expanded World Cup format, which allows 32 of the 48 participating teams to progress to the knockout rounds, has also fueled speculation that Nigeria would have had a realistic chance of advancing.

Several African nations have produced impressive performances during the tournament, reinforcing the belief among many fans that the Super Eagles possessed enough quality to compete with some of the teams that qualified for the Round of 32 and Round of 16.

Analysts point to Nigeria’s recent performances under Chelle, including improved defensive organization and a more balanced tactical approach, as evidence that the team had begun moving in the right direction before their World Cup hopes ended.

Ultimately, whether Nigeria could have reached the knockout stages remains hypothetical. What is certain, however, is that the Super Eagles’ absence has left one of African football’s traditional powerhouses watching from home while other nations seize the spotlight.

For Nigerian supporters, the focus now shifts to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and ensuring the mistakes that cost the country a place at the 2026 World Cup are not repeated.

CareerJob Seekers Warned As Viral ‘saipem Offshore Vacancies’ Advert Raises Concern by yaroinsider(op): 11:50pm On Jul 07
Applicants are instructed to submit their resumes through the website abroadcareerplus.com rather than an official Saipem recruitment portal.

The use of a third-party website has raised questions about the legitimacy of the advert. Saipem typically publishes employment opportunities through its official careers portal and verified corporate recruitment channels.

Cybersecurity experts have repeatedly warned job seekers to be cautious of recruitment advertisements circulating on social media, especially those directing applicants to unofficial websites or making unusually attractive salary offers without providing verifiable contact details.

Although the flyer states that there are “no recruitment or registration fees,” employment fraud schemes often use similar assurances to build trust before requesting payments for processing, medical examinations, visas or travel arrangements.

As of the time of publication, Yaro Insider could not independently verify that the advert originated from Saipem or that the listed vacancies are part of an official recruitment campaign.

Prospective applicants are advised to verify any employment opportunity through Saipem’s official careers website and the company’s verified social media accounts before submitting personal information or application documents.

Experts also recommend avoiding any recruiter who requests payment at any stage of the hiring process, as reputable multinational companies generally do not charge candidates for job applications or recruitment.

With employment scams becoming increasingly sophisticated, authorities continue to urge job seekers to verify recruitment advertisements through official company channels and report suspicious job offers to the appropriate agencies.

Yaro Insider Fact Check: At the time of publication, there is no independent confirmation that the viral recruitment flyer is an official Saipem job advertisement. Readers are advised to verify vacancies directly through Saipem’s official recruitment platform before applying.

CrimeWho Was Pablo Escobar? The Rise And Fall Of Colombia’s Notorious Drug Kingpin by yaroinsider(op): 8:15pm On Jul 07
Pablo Escobar remains one of the most infamous criminals in modern history. The Colombian drug lord transformed the global cocaine trade during the 1970s and 1980s, amassing enormous wealth while unleashing a wave of violence that claimed thousands of lives.

Known as the founder and leader of the Medellín Cartel, Escobar became one of the world’s richest men at the height of his power. His criminal empire controlled an estimated 80 percent of the cocaine smuggled into the United States, earning him the nickname “The King of Cocaine.”

Born on December 1, 1949, in Rionegro, Colombia, Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria grew up in nearby Medellín. He reportedly began engaging in criminal activities as a teenager before moving into large-scale drug trafficking in the 1970s. As demand for cocaine surged internationally, Escobar and his associates built the Medellín Cartel into one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the world.

At the peak of his influence, Forbes magazine listed Escobar among the world’s richest people. His fortune was estimated at around $30 billion, much of it generated through cocaine trafficking. The cartel reportedly smuggled tons of cocaine into North America every month, making billions of dollars annually.

Despite his criminal activities, Escobar cultivated support among some of Colombia’s poorest communities by funding housing projects, football pitches and other public works. These charitable efforts earned him admiration in certain neighborhoods, although they were overshadowed by the violence linked to his drug empire.

Authorities accused Escobar of orchestrating bombings, kidnappings, assassinations and attacks on judges, journalists, police officers and politicians who stood in his way. His campaign of intimidation became synonymous with the phrase “plata o plomo,” meaning “silver or lead,” referring to the choice between accepting a bribe or facing deadly consequences.

After years of evading capture, Escobar surrendered to Colombian authorities in 1991 under a controversial agreement that allowed him to serve his sentence in a luxury prison known as La Catedral. He later escaped when officials attempted to transfer him to a conventional prison, triggering one of the largest manhunts in Colombian history.

On December 2, 1993, one day after his 44th birthday, Escobar was tracked down by Colombian security forces in Medellín. He was killed during a rooftop shootout, bringing an end to his reign and accelerating the collapse of the Medellín Cartel.

More than three decades after his death, Pablo Escobar remains a polarizing figure. His life has inspired books, documentaries and television series, while his legacy continues to fuel debates about crime, poverty, corruption and the global war on drugs. For many Colombians, however, his name is inseparable from the violence and suffering inflicted during one of the country’s darkest chapters.

Science/TechnologyClipcash App Review: How It Works, Earning Methods And What Users Should Know by yaroinsider(op): 5:34pm On Jul 07
ClipCash is one of several mobile applications that promise users the opportunity to earn rewards by watching short videos and completing simple in-app activities. The Android app has attracted attention from people looking for easy ways to make money online, but questions remain about how reliable its payout system is.

The app combines entertainment with a rewards programme. Users receive virtual coins for watching short videos, checking in daily, spinning a lucky wheel and completing other tasks. These coins can then be exchanged for cash or rewards if the minimum withdrawal requirements are met.

How ClipCash works

After installing the app, users can immediately begin watching short videos across different categories. Each completed video earns a small number of coins, while additional rewards are available through daily logins, mini-games, bonus challenges and promotional events. Most reward activities require users to watch advertisements before receiving their coins, as the platform generates revenue primarily through advertising.

Ways to earn coins

Users can increase their coin balance by:

* Watching short videos.
* Claiming daily check-in bonuses.
* Spinning the lucky wheel.
* Playing mini-games.
* Completing special in-app tasks.
* Participating in limited-time promotions when available.

Can users really withdraw money?

According to the app, accumulated coins can be redeemed once users reach the required withdrawal threshold. However, several independent reviews report that withdrawals may be subject to daily limits, long processing times or failed payments. Some users say they received their rewards, while others claim they were unable to cash out despite meeting the requirements.

Things to consider before using ClipCash

While the app is free to download and easy to use, experts advise treating it primarily as an entertainment platform rather than a dependable source of income. Rewards are generally small, advertisements are frequent and reaching the withdrawal threshold can take considerable time. Independent reviewers also recommend avoiding unrealistic expectations, especially if your goal is to earn significant money online.

For users interested in trying the app, it may offer occasional small rewards for spare-time activities. However, anyone seeking a consistent or full-time online income may find better opportunities through freelancing, digital services or other established online business models.

SportsMamelodi Sundowns Eye Move For Super Eagles Defender Olisa Ndah by yaroinsider(op): 9:24am On Jul 07
South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns are considering a move for Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

According to reports from South Africa, discussions between Sundowns and the Nigerian centre-back are at an advanced stage, although a final agreement has not yet been reached.

Ndah is currently a free agent after leaving Stellenbosch FC at the end of last season, making him an attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced defender without paying a transfer fee.

The 28-year-old has built a solid reputation in South African football since arriving in the Premier Soccer League, earning praise for his composure on the ball, aerial ability and defensive awareness. His performances have also seen him remain in contention for the Super Eagles despite fierce competition for places in Nigeria’s backline.

For Mamelodi Sundowns, signing Ndah would further bolster a squad already regarded as one of the strongest on the African continent. The Pretoria-based club has dominated South African football in recent years and is looking to reinforce its defence as it prepares to compete on multiple fronts, including the domestic league and continental competitions.

While talks are said to be progressing positively, sources familiar with the negotiations insist that no deal has been completed. Both parties are still working through the details before any official announcement can be made.

Ndah has earned several caps for Nigeria and has been part of the Super Eagles setup under different national team coaches. A move to Mamelodi Sundowns would see him join one of Africa’s most successful clubs and could provide another platform to strengthen his international prospects ahead of future competitions.
Neither Mamelodi Sundowns nor Ndah has publicly commented on the reported negotiations. Until an agreement is signed, the proposed transfer remains under discussion.

Crime10 Jailed Over Naira Abuse In Delta And Edo, Court Gives Option Of Fine by yaroinsider(op): 9:27pm On Jul 06
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of 10 individuals for abusing and mutilating the naira in separate cases before the Federal High Courts in Delta and Edo states.

The convictions were secured by the Benin Zonal Directorate of the anti-graft agency before Justice F. A. Olubanjo of the Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, and Justice (Professor) C. A. Obiozor of the Federal High Court in Benin City.

Those convicted are Lucky Onoberhie, Happy Joseph Isioma, Friday Ehiedu, Collins Ndudi Albert, Okorie Builder, Ernest Achieme, Isicheli Desmond Chijioke, Nwosu Davison, Enadegh Agbonmware and Lucky Osaro.

According to the EFCC, the convicts were prosecuted for spraying naira notes while dancing at social events, an act prohibited under Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

One of the charges against Ernest Achieme stated that he tampered with ₦50,000 in ₦200 denominations by spraying the notes during a wedding ceremony in Kwale, Delta State, on December 31, 2025.

All the defendants pleaded guilty after the charges were read to them. Following their pleas, prosecution counsel, K. W. Chukwuma-Eneh, urged the courts to convict and sentence them in accordance with the law.

Justice Olubanjo convicted Onoberhie, Isioma, Ehiedu, Ndudi, Builder, Achieme, Chijioke and Davison, sentencing each to 12 months’ imprisonment with an option of a ₦100,000 fine.

In a separate ruling, Justice Obiozor sentenced Agbonmware to six months’ imprisonment with an option of a ₦100,000 fine for spraying the naira. Osaro received the same sentence for a similar offence.

The EFCC disclosed that all 10 convicts also signed written undertakings to maintain good conduct and refrain from abusing the naira in the future.

The anti-corruption agency has intensified its crackdown on naira abuse in recent months, repeatedly warning Nigerians that spraying, stepping on or otherwise defacing the national currency at parties and other social gatherings is a criminal offence punishable under the Central Bank of Nigeria Act.

The commission has urged members of the public to respect the naira and comply with existing laws designed to preserve the integrity of Nigeria’s legal tender.

PhonesMTN Restores Airtime Lending Service After Months Of Disruption by yaroinsider(op): 6:45pm On Jul 06
MTN Nigeria has restored its airtime lending service, bringing relief to millions of subscribers who rely on the platform to access emergency airtime and data when they run out of credit.

The return of the service follows months of uncertainty triggered by a regulatory dispute that forced telecom operators to suspend airtime and data advance services across the country. The restoration means eligible MTN subscribers can once again borrow airtime through the company’s XtraTime service.

For many Nigerians, the service is more than a convenience. It provides a temporary lifeline for users who need to make urgent calls, access mobile banking services or stay connected before they can recharge their lines.

One subscriber, Farouk Rabiu, described the suspension as frustrating, recalling how he was unable to borrow airtime to access his bank account after exhausting his data balance.

“I missed having that option,” he said, noting that although borrowing attracts service charges, it remains an important emergency tool.

The suspension stemmed from a dispute over the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s (FCCPC) Digital, Electronic, Online and Non-Traditional Consumer Lending (DEON) Regulations, which sought to introduce a new licensing framework for digital lending services, including airtime credit. The move sparked legal challenges from industry stakeholders, who argued that airtime lending falls under telecommunications regulation rather than consumer lending.

Following court interventions and the suspension of enforcement of the disputed regulations, telecom operators gradually began restoring airtime lending services. Airtel and Globacom resumed their services earlier, while MTN took additional time before fully restoring XtraTime to its subscribers.

Industry groups, including the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), welcomed the restoration, arguing that airtime credit has become an essential service for millions of Nigerians, especially during emergencies.

The restoration is expected to improve customer experience for MTN’s millions of subscribers while the legal issues surrounding the regulation of airtime lending continue to be resolved by the courts.

Nairaland General10 Killed, Six Injured After Commercial Bus Rams Reversing Truck On Lagos-ibadan by yaroinsider(op): 4:21pm On Jul 06
Ten people have been confirmed dead and six others injured following a fatal road crash involving a commercial bus and a truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The accident occurred at about 8:05 p.m. on Sunday near Sapade Bridge in Remo North Local Government Area, according to the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The crash involved a white Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number EKY 290 YM and a white Sinotruk Dangote truck with no visible registration number.
The FRSC said 18 people were involved in the crash, comprising 15 adult males, two adult females and one male child. Of those, 10 victims—nine adult males and one male child—lost their lives, while six others, including four adult males and two adult females, sustained varying degrees of injuries. Two adult males escaped unhurt.
According to the agency, preliminary investigations showed that the truck driver allegedly reversed onto the highway after missing his route. The approaching commercial bus, reportedly travelling at high speed, attempted to pass through the narrow space left by the truck but crashed into it. The FRSC attributed the tragedy to speeding, wrongful overtaking and dangerous driving.
Rescue teams evacuated the injured victims to Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the bodies of those who died were deposited at FOS Mortuary in Ipara. Officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Ishara Division have taken custody of the damaged vehicles, and the crash scene has since been cleared to restore the free flow of traffic.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He also urged motorists, particularly commercial drivers and truck operators, to avoid reversing on highways, excessive speeding and other dangerous driving practices that continue to claim lives on Nigerian roads.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of Nigeria’s busiest highways, linking Lagos with several states across the southwest and other parts of the country. Safety authorities have repeatedly warned motorists to obey traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds and avoid risky manoeuvres such as reversing on expressways to reduce the frequency of fatal crashes.

CelebritiesKemi Olunloyo Claims Sam Larry May Lose Both Legs After Reported Accident by yaroinsider(op): 4:14pm On Jul 06
Journalist Kemi Olunloyo has claimed that music promoter Sam Larry is in critical condition following a reported road accident, alleging that doctors may be considering amputating both of his legs to save his life.
Olunloyo made the claims in a video posted on her social media platforms, saying the information came from what she described as “a very good source” and “a trusted source.”
According to her, she received the update on July 4 and was told that Sam Larry’s injuries were severe enough for doctors to consider a double amputation.
“The only thing I remember is Mohbad sitting there on that wheelchair being attacked, and I just said to myself, ‘Oh my God, Sam Larry will have to sit on that wheelchair for the rest of his life if they have to do that,’” she said while reflecting on the reported development.
Olunloyo added that she had not received confirmation that any amputation had taken place, saying she had contacted her source for an update but had yet to receive a response.
She further alleged that Sam Larry sustained serious head injuries and a broken neck in the reported accident. She also claimed he was the only survivor of the crash, while the other occupants of the vehicle reportedly died.
However, as of the time of publication, none of these claims has been independently verified.
Neither Sam Larry nor his representatives have publicly commented on the reported incident. There has also been no statement from the Nigeria Police Force, hospital authorities or any relevant government agency confirming that an accident occurred or detailing Sam Larry’s medical condition.
The claims have generated widespread reactions on social media, largely because of Sam Larry’s controversial association with the late singer Mohbad. Following Mohbad’s death in September 2023, Sam Larry faced intense public scrutiny after videos surfaced showing an alleged confrontation between him and the singer. Authorities subsequently launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
