Dendritic metallic nanostructures for fuel cell have good performance
Fuel cells are new energy conversion technology used in portable electronic devices, stationary power generation and automotive applications, wherein the polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells than conventional fuel battery have the following advantages: flexibility in operating conditions, can quickly change the output power, durable, simple system, so it is the first choice of the car for the power source. The results showed that under the conditions of the PEM fuel cell, the tree platinum sheet than the conventional platinum catalyst has much higher catalytic activity and durability. Under 75 hours at 0.5v, during the test period of constant electric potential use, the performance of platinum black decreased by 47%, while the performance of platinum sheet fell only 33%. More importantly, in the durability test, at 75 hours of operation test, it only declined 19% (1.2A/cm2 to 0.97A/cm2), meanwhile platinum black MEA dropped 43% (1.25A / cm2 to 0.71A/cm2). Dendrimers (CYD-PR121/CYD-PR256/CYD-PV121/CYD-PV256) as toughening agents for thermosetting material (bismaleimide BMI) have the following advantages: low viscosity, can reduce the processing viscosity of BMI system, ease of processing, more easily compatible with BMI. Methods: Acetylating its active end group by modification, to avoid its reaction with BMI system. BMI + HBP dissolved in allyl phenol solvent, and then stirred and heated to 145 ℃, the clear homogeneous solution was prepared, degassed and added to the preheated mold to solidify, 150 ° C (5 h), 200 ° C (3 h), 250 ° C (3 h). When the dosage of dendrimer is 9%, elongation at break can reach the maximum of 138%, toughening performance was increased by 15.9% compared with linear polyesters, meanwhile, system without dendritic polymers as toughening agent, the elongation at break could not be determined, thus no toughness. Dendrimers can significantly improve the mechanical property of epoxy system.
A small amount of hydroxyl groups of dendrimer (CYD-CR111/CYD-CR236/CYD-CV111/CYD-CV486) react with epoxy curing system to form a three dimensional network structure. Blending with the epoxy system by a simple physical method, due to the special structure of the molecule as well as physical interactions with epoxy matrix, it can significantly improve the mechanical properties of epoxy systems. (1) at low temperature (77 K) hydroxy terminated dendrimers can improve the tensile strength and impact strength of epoxy resins, with mass fraction of 10% of hydroxy-terminated dendrimer, compared to the pure epoxy resin system, the tensile strength increased from the original 98.2MPa to 115.6MPa, increased by 17.7%; failure strain increased with the amount increased of dendrimer, when dosage is 10%, increased from the original 1.9% to 3.1%, increased by 63.2%. (2) the impact strength increased from 25.4 ± 2.7 to 32.0 ± 1.0, increased by 26.0%, and after adding the dendrimer, impact strength at low temperatures is not lower than room temperature, and appropriate dosage of hydroxyl terminated dendrimers does not lower Tg of condensate. Hyperbranched polyester applications in coating industry
(1) Epoxy resin curing agent.
Hyperbranched polyester has a large number of active end groups, amino groups and carboxyl groups can react with epoxy groups.
Applicable products:
Hyperbranched polymer with amino groups,carboxyl groups,such as PAMAM and modified hyperbranched polyester.
Examples 1:

Carboxyl-terminated dendrimer as curing agent by reaction of a carboxyl group with an epoxy group of the epoxy fixed on the three-dimensional network structure, along with appropriate increase of the mass fraction resulting cured crosslink density increases, by the action of stretched force, the three-dimensional network structure of the epoxy resin can maintain its rigidity, can withstand greater tensile force, making the tensile strength increases. As shown, the tensile properties test due to GB/T-2568-1995, temperature (23±2) ℃, rate of extension 2mm/min, when add modified hyperbranched polyester CYD-220T mass fraction of 15 %, the tensile strength reaches the maximum 64.86 MPa, is 3 times than the system without adding it.

Example 2:

Using dendrimers with amino terminal group as the epoxy resin curing agent, adding the theoretical amount and without diluent, at 20 ℃, usage time and gel time of such coatings are 6.0 and 2.4 times than ethylenediamine/epoxy System. And curing at 95 ℃, 120 ℃, 150 ℃, curing speed are 1.8 times, 3.4 times and 4.8 times than ethylenediamine/epoxy resin system.

(2)Epoxy resin additives

Principle:
Non-reactive end groups of the hyperbranched polymer does not react with the epoxy resin, curing agent, or the reaction activity is low. In epoxy curing system, the cured is modified by physical blending.
Applicable products:
Hyperbranched polyester series.
Application examples:
Hydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polyester can improve the tensile strength and impact strength of epoxy resin, adding the hydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polyester of 10% mass fraction, the tensile strength and impact strength were increased by 17.7% and 26.3%, and after adding hyperbranched polyester, impact strength at low temperature is not lower than room temperature.

(3) Hyperbranched epoxy resin.
Epoxy-modified hyperbranched polyester can significantly improve the toughness of the epoxy resin coating, the impact resistance, along with the amount increase of the hyperbranched polyester, the impact resistance increases, while the dosage is 15%, the impact resistance is 296% of the original one and the rate of curing, mechanical strength of the original epoxy resin matrix are not affected, which is attributed to plasticizing properties of hyperbranched polyester and particulate structure in epoxy resin phase. Silica particles modified by pamam can effectively adsorb anionic dyes and surfactant in the water, in particular C18G1S showed the highest binding affinity to the anionic surfactant. The adsorption isothermal studies indicated that adsorption of surfactants on C18GnS was due to the assistance of hydrophobic interaction between the aliphatic peripherals on the dendron and the
alkyl tail on the surfactant. The anionic targets adsorbed on the surface modified silica particles can be released at alkaline condition because of the deprotonation of PAMAM dendron, which suggests the convenient recovery and reuse process. Counting in the cost efficiency and environmental low load, as-prepared amphiphilic dendron-modified silica is a promising solid phase adsorbent for water purification. Dendrimers have good and promising applications in oil wastewater treatment. Dendrimers (PAMAM, CYD) modified with magnetic nanoparticles can be used for almost all kinds of oil wastewater, and show excellent performence of watertreatment, which is far better than traditional pharmaceutical. Oil removal rate can reach 97.4%, after 70mg/L PAMAM-F3O4 is added, and the suspension can be reduced from 137mg/L to 55mg/L.
