It is used for greeting in both formal and informal letters.

I understand emotios may not be attached in a formal speech or discussion but what of in an informal discussion between a male and a female

I guess some people do not attach a special meaning to it

many times I've been chatting with a girl and suddenly I hear "goodnight dear".."sorry my dear".. how are you dear"... I want to ask (to the ladies) does this have a special meaning or do you say it to just anyone. (to the guys) do you use the word to address just any lady.


is it someone you like/love/ or have a crush on you say this to. I want peoples opinion on this
