I marvel at the level of ignorance displayed by a lot of us sometimes. I am sure most of you talking down on Prophet Obadare have no clue who he was or how great his contributions were. If you knew you would think the 30,000USD was not worth anything near what he deserved. Or have we become more righteous than the Lord himself who rebuked Judas for thinking like a lot of you when he (Judas) lamented the 'wastefulness' of the woman who broke the alabaster box of very expensive perfume which she poured on his feet and wiped with her hair? Let's stop this poverty advocacy. Learn what money and value mean. |

76Naira: Poor medical systems and poor living environments.Exactly the point! We Nigerians see things falling apart, we pause to say 'May his soul RIP' and move gullibly on towards the same precipice. Abnormality Is so normal in Nigeria that anyone who dares to be normal becomes the odd man. People die in road accidents caused by some pothole that could have been fixed with less than 50K and 'Good Nigerians simply come along, clean up the mess, and with a sober spirits and bowed head mutter,'May their souls rest in peace' while d pothole gapes waiting for more blood. We all need to stop, think, correct, review, improve in every way or else...Things don't just happen. |
What won't people criticise? If he had a private jet they complain. If he stands with the highly placed they complain. Now that he chose to identify with the lowly in their misery they still complain. O generation of complainers! What spirit drives you? Can't you see you operate the same way as the Pharisees of old? God bless Daddy G.O. |
Excellent art. The weaver should get an award for Creativity, Daring to do the odd and Patience. There is room for improvement though. The area around the exhaust should be kept well away from the inflammable woven material, fuelling and associated risks ans well as cooling cos the air inlet for radiator cooling looks completely covered. Excellent piece. This kind makes us all forget the woes of the nation for a moment. I wish to see the Minister of Art & Culture give this guy some recognition. Let's all get creative and forget our misery. Long Live Nigeria!!! |
Hmmmm! I have read thru a lot of these writings and have come to one conclusion only - these commentator are not exactly agents of change or those who have the poor at heart but those, like Judas Iscariot, who was quick to challenge the use of the very expensive ointment on the Lord Jesus, claiming that it should have been sold and given to the poor, not because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief. You guys are sharp to criticise men of God and yet cannot even point at what positive difference you've made in the lives of 'the poor' or don't you have any around you? How many of you can make the kind of sacrifice these men of God have made in the past? Now that a gift is presented to one everybody wants to stone him. If you got a car gift would you burn it because a politician gave you? When Pst. kumuyi of Deeper Life sold his car in the early days to expand the evangelistic effort in Ghana did anyone shout? The other day someone saw him in a Benz ML and began complaining that the car was too nice. Better beware what you say before you confer on yourself the deplorable title of a 'never-do-well' Let's stop all these hypocrisy and do some useful stuff with our lives. |
I have been patronising NL for close to a year now. It proved to be an excellent forum that's commanding a greater following by the day. I saw it as a tool of change - the change that we have so desperately needed as a people. Unfortunately, rather than discuss issues that affect all of us with a view to causing positive change, we sometime resort to basal instincts of tribal/religious polarisation with such misdirected energy. I believe most of NLers are youths and we are the ones with the opportunity to tilt the sense and sensibilities of our nation. Please let's start the Change by addressing salient issue and stop wasting our time and lives on vain cyber chitchat. I am prepared for Change. I hope you too are. |
So what happens when a Muslim wears shirt and trousers with tie? Has anyone expressed annoyance at that? Who patented any kind of clothing to any tribe, religion etc? |
No need to commit suicide. You have done the right thing by acknowledging your error in selling the child. Some of the men casting aspersions on you might have denied some poor girls child's paternity after impregnating them. No need to stone her. I advice you speak with a trusted Man of God who will be able to counsel you and help you. With God all things are possible. |
musKeeto: In Jesus name? Lol, wasnt that modafucker killed by some romans in that jewish fairy tale called the Bible?MusKeeto, this is unnecessary profanity. It is bravery that makes a bull stand on a rail road in defiance of 'what the oncoming train can do' Your guess is as good as mine...it's sheer FOOLISHNESS. If I were you I'd not let my tongue strangle me! Fear God. Jesus loves you. |
As for marrying a man without job, well, you have a choice. The other option you have is to go ahead and marry one without a job. Perhaps you will come back and sit at the feet of the MOG muttering 'I should have listened!' Pastor Adeboye would not blame a man who cannot find a job. Everyone know that the leadership of this country has failed in that regard. The real challenge is that many times we don't get a job because we are waiting for someone or an organisation to employ us. Wisdom demands that we look inwards and ask 'what else can I do?' and then go for it without allowing the excuse of capital, personal pride and peer comparison to hinder us. Start small, keep a good relationship with everyone and watch it grow. There is a lot that can be done. Everyone can find something noble to. Pray that your eyes be opened to see your place to fill instead of wasting time castigating a man who is already made. |
This generation amazes me. If you were a student under his tutelage when Dr Adeboye was a lecturer in UNILAG in 1973 (when a lot of NLers had not been born) would you have considered him an ignoramus. Is it that we are so uncultured that we have forgotten that the man in question (whether he truly said what is credited to him or not) is old enough to be our grand father. Besides, as a man of God he does not speak to impose himself on his flock. I have known and studied him over the years. If truly he said this, it must be a problem-solving directive to contain the myriads of issues that come before him day by day. You need to be close to a man of his calibre to know how their hearts bleed for the errors and repercussions of wrong marriages. If you think this is not a wise counsel, then leave it. It's regretful how many young people think themselves wise until they fall into their own error. The great undoing of today's youth is the inability to listen to, let alone distill the wisdom in the utterances of the elders. BTW I do not attend RCCG. Just remember that what the elderly see in the horizon while sitting a youth will not see though he climbs the tallest of trees. A word is enough for the wise. |
I have just one question for the poster and all who have castigated all these churches and their universities. If you were in the midst of the Nigerian type of rot called educational system and you intend to make a difference by going back to the old system of mission schooling, how would you have run the school. Pls bear in mind that mission schools of old were being funded by foreign support. Perhaps we should answer this question sincerely first before we continue stoning those who intend to make a difference. |
Prevention is better than cure. Perhaps it would cost less to fix the potholes that are causing most of the accidents than rolling out funds from year to year to 'attend' to the victims. Fix the roads, enact and enforce laws than will promote safe driving and there will be no need throwing money into a rescue mission if the money will ever get there anyway. We should run a proactive system that see what is likely to go wrong and prevent it in contrast to a reactive system where you wait for disasters to occur before deploying man, machine and money to run the fool's race. Prevention is always better than cure. |

Yemotiroro: Every time someone does something remarkable there is always a bunch of retrogressives who stand aloof for criticism only. They make no effort themselves at moving anything forward but are masters at voicing out all the ugly things that their distorted minds can throw up. Can't we all see that, whether it is assembling or manufacturing, some brilliant Nigerian has pushed the odds to bring the automobile 'effort' to bear and has invariably created some jobs? A question for those antagonistic myopics; what good thing have you been able to produce for the benefit of others? Your guess is as good as mine!Innosson, you are a good example. Keep up the good work! God will prosper your effort! |

No thanks to those tribesmen among us who, instead of discuss the commerce, technology, potentials etc of the new products, have already begun biting one another on the tribal jugular. Shame on such backward tribalists. A nation with a tenth of such thinkers in the population need not fear going backward; it is already in the abyss! Snap out of your tribal slumber and embrace the future! |
"There are more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history" --- Sir Isaac Newton "Let mental culture go on advancing, let the natural sciences progress in ever greater extent and depth, and the human mind widen itself as much as it desires; beyond the elevation and moral culture of Christianity, as it shines forth in the Gospels, it will not go" --- Goethe “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated to us through this Book.” ― Abraham Lincoln "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God..." ---Psalm 14:1 |
When you read the scientific theories in school you swallowed it all down without stopping to ask why or even trying to replicate the experiment with a view to verifying or refuting the scientific claims. When someone comes along with an experience with God people begin to scoff. They exercise their faith is science they have not seen or verified but scorn any faith in God or His supernatural workings. If you people have become so enlightened that you now believe or assume that God is not existing or that He exists as a mere toy, then you better think again. Looks to me like in all your educative adventures you are yet to read the story of Charles Darwin. Remember him? Yes...He wrote the book 'The origin of species' he was the protagonist of evolution that many of these agnostics and atheists follow. Unfortunately for most of them they don't read the whole story of the father of evolution. Before he died he had a change of reasoning. At a point he demanded that the book of Hebrews be read to him. He called it 'The Royal Book' and pleaded with Christians to commence a fellowship just outside the house where he would be able to see them while still lying on his bed. The unfortunate ones who read only the front pages got their mind confused in the creative imagination of someone else. So much for enlightenment! Perhaps it's time for my scoffing friends to recognize that we scientists deal with Facts and not necessarily the Truth! Please learn the difference between the two if indeed you know what education is about. I have had great experiences with God myself and will compel no one to believe if they don't choose to. Jesus is Alive forever. Amen. |
@OP: How old is ur marriage? It appears to me you are both experiencing the teething problems of marriage. I have a feeling you are more educated than those Inlaws of yours. What you are experiencing may be a silent war of egos. Envy may be underneath all of this. Be wise and play along. If your reaction meets their expectation that means they have the password to program you. But if u overlook so much and smile when they push u to fight, then u have become a superior warrior. Pray for wisdom and victory against diabolical manipulation. And to win ur hubby back, 'act' in love towards them all. A little drama is needed in times like this. They'll soon get tried. |
