Chief Gokpa, accompanied by youths and staff of Eleme LGA, meets the Rainbow Heritage representative, Mr. Kalada Dickson, to ensure a seamless and successful flag-off ceremony. He assured the contractors of the LGA's continued support for projects in the area.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the Governor for siting the New Port City in Eleme LGA, highlighting its potential to attract workers from the oil and gas industry, as well as other sectors, to relocate from cities like Lagos and Abuja.
The New Port City project, set to be launched on Friday, will create a modern self-sustaining city, transform the landscape of Eleme LGA and boost economic growth in the region. It features a range of facilities, including:

Former minister of state for power and steel, Oyekunle Oluwasanmi, is dead.

His family, in a statement, said he died on Thursday, July 14, aged 85 years.

Oluwasanmi was appointed as the chairman of the board of the News Agency of Nigeria in 1992. He was also a board member of several companies, including Kinley Securities Limited and Wise Health Services Limited.


In 1995, in recognition of his sterling administrative skills, he was appointed by the Federal Military Government as a member of the Committee for States and Local Governments Creation. He was part of a committee that advocated the creation of Ekiti, Ebonyi, Nassarawa, Gombe, Zamfara and Bayelsa states in 1996.

In recognition of his solid administrative prowess, he was appointed minister of State for Power and Steel in 1997.

Under his watch, several reforms which positively impacted the nation’s power and steel sector were introduced.

A community leader worthy of emulation, Oluwasanmi was the Customs and Excise Area administrator for Tin Can Island Ports and subsequently at Calabar Ports. He is survived by his wife, Grace Fehintola, children and grandchildren.

Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, had disclosed that the Vice President was in hospital for “a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash”.

Akande later revealed in a statement that Osinbajo was admitted to Duchess International Hospital GRA.

“He had a surgical operation performed by a team of specialist doctors, including Dr. Wallace Ogufere (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Om Lahoti (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Babajide Lawson (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Ken Adegoke (Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care); Dr. Oladimeji Agbabiaka (Consultant Anaesthetist); and Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi (Consultant Physician & Medical Director).

“The operation was successful, and he is expected to be discharged within the next few days,” the statement signed by Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, Medical Director, Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja said.

Reacting to his decision to trust and embrace local medical services, a social media user, DaVinci, wrote, “It never occurred to me that he has never traveled abroad for any medical in all the years as VP. Respect! It is not by mouth, this is highly commendable doings,” he wrote.
“I never heard about Osinbajo traveling out of the country not even to Ghana or Togo for medical treatment, always patronising Nigeria hospital.

A National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja on Friday ordered the Federal Government to put machinery in place for the immediate review of the salaries and allowances of the judicial officers in Nigeria.

Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki-Osaghae who issued the order held that the current salaries and allowances of judicial officers in the country are not only abysmally low but embarrassing.

Delivering judgment in a suit instituted against the Federal Government by Chief Sebastine Hon (SAN), Justice Obaseki-Osaghae ordered the Federal Government to commence a monthly payment of N10 million to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), N9 million to other justices of the apex court, President of Court of Appeal, N9 million while other justices of the appellate court N8 million, Chief Judges of both Federal and States High Courts N8 million while judges of the Federal and States High Courts N7 million.

The judge held that the refusal of the government to review the judicial officers’ salaries and allowances for 14 years was unconstitutional, unlawful and should be compelled to do the needful.

The court noted that salaries of judges and justices have stagnated for over 14 years and that, despite the increased workload on judicial officers, they have continued to suffer in penury owing to their “extremely low salaries and allowances”, which the court described as “very embarrassing”.

“There is no doubt that from evidence adduced before this court that salaries payable to judges as well as their conditions of service have been greatly altered to their disadvantage. Judicial officers are daily impoverished by the devaluation of the needful

“They have suffered financial hardship and embarrassment owing to their poor pay. It is a shame to the country. In spite of this, our judges have continued to carry out their statutory duties. Justices are themselves victims of a great injustice. What an irony,” Justice Obaseki-Osagie added.

The court directed that the order should be served on the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and awarded N1.5 million cost against RMAFC, the AGF and the National Assembly, who were all cited as Defendants in the matter.

They said Registration is free, from my experienced in PH office, after I gone through all the registration thing, they said I should go and come back in two weeks, I went after the two weeks, the official told me that I have internal issue and they directed me to see one immigration officer which demanded three thousand niara from me. The told me to go and come back in two days time, after the two days, he said that Abuja office is still holding my details. From August up till now no news from them.
