It is commendable. We are getting there.

This is an excellent submission and it is the way to go.

I attended Zenith Bank's Hackathon and Bluechip Hackathon and drew one conclusion - technology is still a bubble in Nigeria. The brick-and-mortar traditional banks are the richest businesses in Nigeria. While Zenith Bank gave 25m to its winner, Bluechip gave 1.5m to its winner.

If Nigeria wants to cash in on tech the way America is doing now, the government must be intentional about devoting at least 10% of its budget to talent development, research and infrastructure development. A sizeable fraction of the taxes paid by tech companies should be reinvested in tech development.
BusinessRe: Fire Guts Shops At Lagos Spare Parts Market, Idumota by YOOR: 4:55am On Dec 01, 2024
You are right. We don't have culture of safety "first" in everything we do. After the whole loss everything will return to normal.

flokii:
Nigerians take risks too much.. most of those buildings lack proper electrical connections, lack proper spacing, no safety devices and fire extinguishing mechanisms.

If you don't prioritize safety in your business place and facilities, all your efforts and struggles will eventually go down the drain should fire incidents happen. Safety first.

PoliticsKano Anti-Graft Agency Seals Warehouse, Recovers N1Bn Worth Of Palliative Rice by YOOR(op): 5:22am On Nov 27, 2024
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Agency on Tuesday sealed a warehouse stocked with rice worth over N1bn, allegedly diverted from palliative supplies meant for public distribution.

The warehouse located along Ring Road in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state was sealed during an operation led by the agency’s Executive Chairman, Muhuyi Rimin-Gado.

The seized bags of rice, bearing President Bola Tinubu’s image and the inscription “Ramadan Kareem”, were purportedly intended for distribution during last year’s Ramadan fast.

However, the agency uncovered that the items were being re-bagged under different brands for sale in Kano markets.

Rimin-Gado, speaking to journalists at the scene, described the act as a blatant display of corruption and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This is a clear form of corruption because these are commodities meant for the public. Considering the hardship people are facing today, it is appalling that someone would have the audacity to re-bag and sell them,” he said.

The anti-corruption chief revealed that the agency recovered a re-bagging machine used for repackaging the rice and had arrested one suspect in connection with the diversion.

“We are here armed with a search warrant, arrest warrant, and court order. This is part of our investigative activities to recover stolen public resources,” Rimin-Gado stated.

He assured the public that a comprehensive investigation would be carried out to identify all individuals involved in the illegal activity and ensure justice is served.

“Our commitment is to uncover everyone behind this act and prevent a recurrence. For now, one suspect is in custody, and we will ensure all legal procedures are followed in dealing with this case,” he added.

PoliticsRe: Auditor General Of The Federation Uncovers ₦197. 72 Fraud In CBN And Other Mdas by YOOR: 7:47am On Nov 25, 2024
Nigerians are the stumbling blocks of Nigeria's progress towards national development.
It is quite unfortunate that most Nigerians aren't patriotic.
We hope that one day we would have pragmatic leader who will bring the desired reforms and citizens will contribute tirelessly in the nation building.

Office of Nigeria’s Auditor-General of the Federation has uncovered irregular payment for contracts amounting to N197.72 billion in Rural Electrification Agency agencies, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, a subsidiary of Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company and other ministries, departments, and agencies in the country.

PoliticsRe: Refiners Oppose Petrol Import Licences To IPMAN, PETROAN by YOOR: 8:10am On Nov 10, 2024
Proudlyngwa:
Like I said let them import, just not with our dollars, but the time they source dollars and pay import duties, tax and others.

We will know which is more expensive.
Bad quality or not

Just don't give them any special benefits
I think there should be trade-off between quality fuel and cheap fuel. In most developed countries there are fuel grades with their prices. In Nigeria, regulators are not doing enough to monitor qualities of fuel imported. Aside, we don't have control over price at international market and some majority oil marketer are not patriotic. Nigerians never had advantage of benefitting from cheaper price when oil price is relatively low at the international market. Some will sell old stock at current price. A lot of issues affecting the oil sector.
PoliticsRe: Refiners Oppose Petrol Import Licences To IPMAN, PETROAN by YOOR: 7:10am On Nov 10, 2024
To be candid, most Nigerians are not patriotic since it has been established that over the years major oil marketers import substandard fuels. Aside, the regulators are not performing their statutory duties diligently as such government should withdraw their licenses so that regulators can monitor and tract quality of fuel that is being dispensed across Nigeria through our local refineries. Enough is enough!!!
