Nigerians have been urged to exercise more patience with the All Progressives Congress-led government over its campaign promises.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who made the plea in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, was reacting to the worry expressed in some quarters over the pace at which the present administration is going.
Dogara made the appeal at a thanksgiving Church service of Rep. Austine Chukwukere, (APC) member representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo.
According to the Speaker, there is the need for Nigerians to be more patient with the government.
“The APC government is laying a solid foundation that will last for generations, which requires time, diligence and patience on the part of the people.
“I have interacted with leaders on the platform of the APC at all levels and I have no doubt in my mind as to their commitment to delivering the promised change and transform this country to greatness.
“I will urge Nigerians not to despair, but to be patient with us.
“Be patient with the APC as we are committed to the change agenda we promised the people.
“From the president down to leaders at all levels, everybody is talking about the people and not our personal interest.
“You can see the sincerity and the commitment of our leaders”.
Dogara also commended Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha, for investing in education to move the state forward.
“If not for education, we can’t be here as leaders today.
“Some of the investments are not tangible so people will not see them now, but wealth of nations has moved from those beneath the soil to those you have in your head”, he said.
While responding, Okorocha was quoted as saying that the time for politics is over as governance must take the centre stage.
The Imo governor also commended the Speaker for uniting the House of Representatives, pointing out that Nigerians were always worried when they hear of disagreements and bickering among lawmakers.

As part of its 10th anniversary and 2015 Convocation ceremony, the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, will confer honourary Doctorate Degree in Political Science on former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR..
Making this known during a courtesy visit by the members of the University’s Governing Council and management to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his Presidential Hilltop, Abeokuta, residence, was the Vice Chancellor of TASUED, Professor Oluyemisi Oluremi Obilade, who remarked that the award was a thank you gesture to the former President under whose tenure the University was licensed on November 28, 2005.
Prof. Obilade disclosed that the award of the honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science to Chief Obasanjo was a unanimous decision of the TASUED’s Governing Council upon the overwhelming recommendation of the University Senate, to appreciate Chief Obasanjo for his unalloyed support to the University, contributions to the educational development of Nigeria and his selfless service to humanity as a whole.
Chief Obasanjo, while accepting the honour thanked the University for the recognition, noting that “TASUED has a glorious history of existence and I am happy to associate with the University”.

“I almost took a decision that I will not accept doctorate degrees from any University, but if I can take honorary degrees from Moscow and Beijing, then I can’t resist that of TASUED”, he added.
Chief Obasanjo further stated that having a specialised University of Education showed “how serious we are in this country, on the issue of education, especially when the University Education is located in Ogun State, which has the highest number of Universities in Nigeria.
“The man that the university is named after was a foremost educationist who gave his very best to education in Nigeria. I, therefore, congratulate TASUED, I plan to attend the convocation, but when I come to your University, I will walk around and see how far you have gone”, he further remarked.
Other dignitaries present during the visit include the Governing Council members Chief Derin Adebiyi, Dr. Mulikat Salau, and Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, who is also the Chairman of the Media Sub-Committee for the 10th Anniversary; Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu; the Bursar, Mr. Ifeoluwa Odusanya, and Director of Protocol, Chief Gbenga Omilola, among others.

Examhall reports that the corporal was found dead around 7.30am in his blue Volkswagen Passat on Tuesday, November 10. He was attached to the state command of Safer Highway Patrol and was one of the officers undergoing corporal-to-sergeant examination.
Agi reportedly passed the examination but missed out on the interview due to the fact that he resided at Badagry which was far from Ikeja where the interview took place. In frustration, he went into his car where he took the drugs that eventually cost him his life.
A security man who claimed to have witnessed the incident said that the deceased got to the police school and passed his exam.
“He had got to the school on Monday afternoon, but we found him dead around 7.30am today (Tuesday). He had just finished the promotional course to become a sergeant and passed. He was to appear before a promotion committee for the final assessment, but he came late for the exercise."

“Minutes later, he sat inside the car and then took some drugs. After a few minutes, he stretched on the driver’s seat and that was the end. We got to know when people started gathering to look at him. We had to lock the gates to prevent more crowds from pouring in.”
A policeman simply identified as Umar said: “He was living in Badagry. After the course was concluded on Monday, he came on that evening but he did not meet the promotion assessment committee. Minutes later, he called his wife that he was going to kill himself as his promotion was not feasible after the lateness.
“It was the Area ‘F’ policemen who came to convey his body to the morgue. He was not a poor policeman. He had a house and a Jeep in the Badagry area. He must have died from depression or shock.”
Joe Offor, the police public relations officer confirmed the incident and added that the state department of criminal Investigation in Yaba had started investigation into the issue.
He said: “Preliminary investigation carried out so far revealed that tablets and some poisonous substances were found around his corpse while still inside his car.
“His body was removed from the vehicle and taken to the LASUTH morgue. The case has been taken over by the Homicide Section, Yaba, with a view to ascertaining the cause of his death.”
In a related development, a DSS official shot at couple on their wedding day after he stormed the reception with a gun.
