Hello everyone,
My uncle and I applied together(joint application) for a visiting visa on July 10th using my brother's convocation invitation letter.
We used fast track and we were told it would be ready in 5 to 7 days.
My uncle got an email for pickup last week Friday(July 19th) and he got his visa.
However, my case is different, as I'm still yet to receive any email from them, it's at "Application received by DMC" stage. It's 9 working days and I'm still yet to hear from them... Please hope it doesn't indicate there might be a problem or sort, considering I applied with my uncle, we even did biometrics same time, and he has gotten his own visa by now. |

zibe: Ok now I'm scared o. You applied since July 16th and paid for priority? I'd like to think it should be out by now. You should give them a call. I also applied and paid for priority but mine was Thursday last week and got a confirmation from UKVI on Friday. I'm hoping it'll be finalised this week. Same here ooo, I applied last week wednesday and paid for priority as well, got received at sheffield email on friday....still waiting till now. I'm also hoping it gets finalized this friday.... I can't stop checking email every now and then |

Phunmmiee: Wait, Your Mum is also in the UK? Whats her status? Why is she not inviting you? Is she legally there?(sorry to ask) Why is she not sponsoring? As a student, how can you explain staying off- school for 5months? Your form will involve details about your Parents and the officer just like me would wonder why your Mom is not inviting you? If you don't mention her, they will still discover she is in the UK thats what biometrics/ tech does to Us. You can't tell any Consular officer you are a student and going for 5months holiday, suspected migration! So please, lets get this clear. What exactly is your situation and intentions. Thanks Thanks alot. |

Phunmmiee: I will advise if your Uncle here in Nigeria is sponsoring ,book a hostel with your application. It would be safer so you won't get denied on the excuse that your brother is a student and has insufficient funds. Success! quote author=Youngee34 post=68089856]Good evening everyone.
I have gone through most of the pages and I've been able to pick pocketful of information.
But I'm still bothered with some things. I got my introductory letter today from my school, and I am ready to apply next week. I've planned to apply as a visitor(My brother who is studying for his masters in Norwich will send me an invitation letter next week), but he doesn't know if he should include proof of accommodation in the list of documents to be submitted, So I asked a friend in my school who also traveled recently to uk, he told me he doesn't need to submit any proof of accommodation, that I should book a hotel, and also that I do not need letter of invitation, that I can apply more or less as a tourist and all I just need to do is to mention in my application that I have a brother doing his masters in uk.
Please advise me, which should I go for, for a successful application, as a tourist, or visitor? I don't want to make any mistake. I look forward to your kind advice, thanks alot!
P.S: I'm just 20,I'm a student of unilag in my penultimate year, and my sponsor is my uncle, a politician, Thanks once again. Thank you so much for your time. Much appreciated . Does that mean I should not mention my brother at all in my application and during the interview? And also won't this means affect me in anyway because my actual intention is to stay there for up to 5 months(I will be staying with my mum). Thanks once again for your time. |

Youngee34: Thanks alot for your response.
I followed your advice and I went back to read through but in all honesty, I didn't really gain much, and I was discouraged from going further. Please I would really be grateful if you can answer me here.
I am 18+, and this is my first sponsored trip. I have two options of sponsorship, my brother or my uncle. My uncle is a politician and he has alot of money in his account, so that might be very okay for statement of account. But he is here in Nigeria, I don't know if I can still use him as my sponsorship. Also, I don't know if i can use my brother as sponsor alternatively since he is the one inviting me over. And also I need to know the documents he/my uncle has to provide and myself included. These are the things I want to be clear with. Can you please help me out, time is really not on my side. I have gotten an introductory letter from DSA in my school today.
P.S: Yes sir, I'm surely going to rep unilag well....lol...Thanks in advance. Please can somebody here help me with these questions. |

bigbus: I will assume you are not a LNY, so I can tell you that your questions have been answered on this thread a couple of times. Best to read through and pick up the bits useful to you. You need to be clear about who is sponsoring your trip; is this your first sponsored holiday? Are you an adult or a minor? etc.
When you have read the thread and still have questions, you can seek further clarifications here. Please rep Unilag well o! Thanks alot for your response. Good Morning everyone.
I am a Unilag student, and I am currently on a long break(6 months, due to IT), I plan on visiting the Uk during this break.
I have a brother who is studying in Uk, and he plans on inviting me over, now my question is, Please what are the documents to be submitted and what are the things my brother and myself need to get ready, it's our first time, so we are very new to this.
Thank you so much. |

justwise: You will find it difficult to get internship or voluntary with any organization in the UK on visiting visa.
I'm not sure i have come across anybody who was able to secure a visa to do internship in the UK from Nigeria though i have seen people go the opposite direction.
This should not put you off, keep trying and get your family in the UK involved as well. Thank you sir, yes I have gotten my family involved. I came across one agency online (bunaac), they help in getting unpaid internship and also sponsoring visas for their clients for $1600. What do you think about this sir? |

justwise: You need to find a company in the UK that is willing to give the opportunity to do internship with them first, you need to write them and attach a letter from your school indicating that you are a student with them and permission to do your internship in the UK, if the company accepts you then they will give you a letter which will be part of your visa application Thank you so much sir, God bless you for your help. But I've been searching and applying to all the companies I know, its not been successful, most of them require me to be in uk before even application. What I really think I should do is to get the visa first and get there and find a suitable place to apply for internship or even do a voluntary work. But I really want to know the chances of me getting visa if I do this, and also is it still visiting visa I should apply for or tourist? And also want to visit my brother and my mum. I will be sponsored by my uncle I'm living with in Nigeria, whom we both share the same surname. Please I really need help...THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR |

ekpotek: Go through this thread. All the information you need has been answered previously. I have started from the beginning, but it's a very long thread over 400 pages. Which makes it difficult for me to get the necessary information. The posts I've been seeing are not really related to my issue. Could you please tag me to one, or just assist me? Thank you |

Hello everybody, I am really grateful to you guys for this amazing platform. May God bless you all.
Please I have some issues as well.
I'm a 400 level Engineering student of University of Lagos. We are obligated to do 6months industrial Training(Internship) second semester starting from may.
Due to the fact that my mum stays in UK and my brother is doing his masters there, I want to do my internship in uk, since accommodation or welfare might not be a problem.
But now, the problems I have now is i don't know how to go about it.
Please can anyone just give me a good advice.
My brother is ready to write me an invitation letter, but I still need to know the necessary steps required so as to guarantee my chances of doing my internship there.
Thanks in anticipation |
