Medical school is perhaps the most sought-after field among students. Students writing entrance exam year after year, usually indicate medicine and surgery as their chosen academic option on their forms. For some, the lucrative nature of the medical field — medical physicians are, after all, among the highest paid professionals in the world – drives their decision, while for others, a real desire to save lives drives their decision.

• Bravery and indifference: Even if you do not intend to become a surgeon, you must learn about the anatomy of the human body. Also, expect little salary at first, especially if you’re just starting out. Following graduation, you will most likely be required to work as a regular doctor at a clinic or hospital. The Ministry of Health is working on a bill that would prevent graduates from working in a private medical center for several years after graduation. As a result, they intend to address the issue of employee shortages in government organizations.

How do you get into medical school?
You must pass an exam in English language, mathematics, Physics, chemistry and biology to be admitted. However, these requirements vary base on university and country you are applying to. The particular collection of subjects is determined by the chosen path and can be seen on the university’s website. Additional entry exams are required at some schools. Some universities, for example, require computer testing in the subjects of “Pediatrics” and “Dentistry.”

It is not easy to get into medical school; you must have high enough test results, usually at least 280. The country’s leading universities, such as the University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, and others, hold the largest competitions among Nigerian universities.

“General Medicine,” “Anatomy,” “Dentistry,” and “Pharmacy” etc are the most popular departments.
