Not compulsory. But they were promised that their expenses would be covered by the body |

In case you have not heard, recently, the BODY OF SENIOR ADVOCATES OF NIGERIA (BOSAN) organized a screening aptitude test and interview for all Law students on CGPA 4.5 and above, in all Law Faculties nationwide. The screening test took place in 3 centers nationwide namely: Abuja, Lagos and Enugu states. The Lagos center had about 50 plus students, Abuja about 14 and about 11 from Enugu center. My younger brother happened to be one of them from one of the faculties. One wonders why the so-called body would subject students to that amount of stress in the first place. All students in South-South and East wrote at Enugu, North at Abuja and West at Lagos Nigerian Law Schools. No transportation fare was provided for any of them, no provision for feeding, and no provision for accomodation. In the end, only about 20 persons made it to Lagos for the interview. Imagine out of nearly 90 persons, only 20 were shortlisted. Now that's not the problem, the problem is that most of these students were not sponsored by their universities. So the bore the brunt of these expenses alone. Now of the 20 that made it to the interview, imagine travelling to Victoria Island Law school from Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Rivers, delta, Edo, Abuja, Jos and other neighboring states. My brother spent nearly 65, 000 for transportation to and fro, feeding and accomodation for the aptitude test and interview at Lagos, only the 20,000 hotel fee at Victoria Island Lagos, and other expenses including intra state transportion. Now could you imagine that after all these stress, only 5 persons were taken and awarded 500,000 scholarship. Is it that SENIOR ADVOCATES who on their own, without force chose to award scholarship could not offer same to at least ten persons? Is it that they could not assist the candidates to reduce the expenses? The scholarship is a pure scam and with what my younger one suffered including risk on the road, don't allow your loved ones to try that rubbish in the name of exams.
