Yeah! for a mobile phone app to perform the task of a PC browser a lot of data will be consumed....indeed UCweb consumes a lot of data.
I personally use the 2app...I ucweb for adobe playing, streaming, downloading, opening large files and updating my blog. While opera for browsing NL and ggoal.com.

The point is, it depends on what tasks you want to perform
