Before you start doing your multiplication ask your self what is the value of a pound compared to a naira?

What can 1 naira buy for a Nigerian and what can a pound buy in UK?
I can tell you what can be purchased with a pound in UK and Nigeria but can you say the same about a naira?

Secondly,you made mention of 70k being basic salary without allowance but you also forgot the same is also applicable to a salary earner in the UK!
By the time you add the allowances of the lowest ranking officer in UK his the minimum wage,the full salary might get to 2800 pounds.
So that argument doesn't hold water.

Furthermore,you made that erroneous calculation that some ignorant Nigerians do just to justify their stance that things are cheaper here in Nigeria!
A simple way to find out if what is sold in Nigeria is cheaper.
let's assume as a Nigerian you purchased 53 litres of PMS @#1300 per litre on a minimum wage of 70k which is #68,900,what will be left is #1,100 implying that the PMS took 98.43% of your minimum wage.
Apply the same logic to someone staying in the UK and earning 2000 pounds as minimum wage and purchasing similar litres of PMS for 97 pounds,what will be left is 1903 pounds which is 95.15% of minimum wage left.
So which country has more purchasing power or which country's products are cheaper?

Finally,if you want to make comparison using our currency against that of UK,you.must match their value with ours!
A pound is 1800 naira...hence,if you want some equality,a minimum wage earner in Nigeria should get 3m which we all know is impossible!
Currently,our minimum wage in pounds is 38 compared to 2000 pounds of UK minimum wage.
The difference is clear!
