Politics › Re: Cocoa Overtakes Crude-Oil As Nigeria's Major Export To Belgium In 2024 by Zocalite: 12:23pm On Aug 11, 2025 |
Gerrard59: Before Dangote, we exported raw crude. I am not advocating for a replacement of crude, but we can become major processors of the cash crops we cultivate. Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam do so. Vietnam exported $1.1bn of cassava products to China alone. We are the highest producers globally, but Thailand is the biggest exporter of value-added cassava. These are medium many factories can be created to provide jobs. We need factory jobs in mass numbers. Processing is the best. I know the European will find excuse to not accept the processed cocoa But Belgium companies should come set up here |

Politics › Re: Cocoa Overtakes Crude-Oil As Nigeria's Major Export To Belgium In 2024 by Zocalite: 12:09pm On Aug 11, 2025 |
Gerrard59: Interesting. The diseases and weather really affected Ivorian and Ghanaian farmers. Our farmers, those in Liberia and Cameroon, are the major beneficiaries. Unlike in Ivory Coast and Ghana, there is no price regulation for cocoa in the other trio. The free market wins. The increased prices have jolted Brazil, Peru and even Papua New Guinea to cultivate more cocoa so they can harvest and export.
And yes, up until now, our total annual tonnes per annum have been reducing. Na small we take gap Cameroon. My fear is Brazil - those guys are very good at agriculture. If they surpass us, Ivoriens and Ghanaians should be afraid.
If the Chinese and later Indians can adopt chocolates like the Europeans, hopefully, the price will remain high enough. May climate change continue to affect cocoa plantations elsewhere. When I saw the increased prices earlier this year and even read a prominent French banker's analysis, I went to church the following Sunday and told the pastor, "Cocoa prices have shot up this year and last year. Pastor, you Yoruba people have made a sheet load of money". The pastor smiled.
Farming is good. Our farmers need security, and our big boys need to go into processing and exporting. No be every time land banking and real estate wey no get pedestrian walkways. 🙄 Not every country buys nigeria crude oil Belgium seldom buys nigeria crude oil, but it but more of cocoa Just English No agricultural produce can outplay crude oil in revenue Do you know how many derivatives is gotten from crude oil |

GO said the infrastructure is now overstretched and creating spillover hold up in traffic. The water system and sewage system can no longer accommodate the surging crowd. Pastor Adoboye, hate him or like him has done extremely well. I do not think he is hungry. If your father, brothers or sisters, uncles and aunts are not among the billionaires donating, how is that your concern? You are a farisi In nigeria of nowadays who are the people that have billions to give- are they godly Jesus Christ followers Where's the surging crowd you are talking about, how many people goes to camp again The people living in camp are they not paying rent, so adeboye is talking to people who aren't staying in camp to come repair camp Do you know what this public request for billions will bring to Christianity, those fake pastors will now boldly copy it, request for money will now be new norm That was how he made a ridiculous statement decades ago, that anyone that doesn't pay tithe will not reach heaven, only for him to apologise about it this year and funily turn it upside down |

kedeojo: Tinubu is just too political wise and smart. Bringing IBB son whose father command alot of influence in the north as the chairman is brilliant. The guy would not want to tarnish thier father image further, so he will so much empower the north expecially since they are the major farmers. If he decides to give one trillion naira for the north, then he will touches alot of northerners and the remaining remaining billions to the south. Tinubu target is the north and do he will encourage him to even spent more than a trillion naira in the north. Some young northerners just need a million naira to start farming and within a year, their personal produce will be over south. How will they convince such person against Tinubu. They appreciate. That yeye Aminda will soon be in pains. Tinubu will reduced poverty level of the north before next year election through this singular effort. Lolzzzzz 🤣 So a northerner now will collect 1m and go to farm, then vote for tinubu, because ibb son is boa chair Who is ibb to northerners moreover his son You people are jokers Where are the tractors he imported? |

Putinofrussia: So also is 100k in 2006 cannot buy what 8k can buy in 1987.
In1990, a 50k bag of rice cost N350.
In 2006, a 50kg bag of rice in Nigeria cost ₦6,000.
In 2025,a 50k bag of rice cost N70,000. Let us do the maths.
6000 divided by 350 gives ~ 17.
70,000 divided by 6000 gives ~ 11.6= 12(approx)
Comparing the two with the space of 16 and 19 years,Tinubu has done better because price went up 17 times in 1990 (space of 16 years to 2006) even with the fraudulent Fuel Subsidy.
In 2025,with the removal of the fraudulent Fuel Subsidy, price only went up approximately,12 times (and things are still coming down exponentially, we pray)
Kudos to President Tinubu for having got the gut to make these hard decisions that brings prosperity to Nigerians soonest.. The decisions that tinubu has brought on nigeria, the results so shall your life be and generation life be forever |
