'A moment of magic' - Allegri lavishes praise on 'extraordinary' match-winner Ronaldo
Juventus come from behind to beat Empoli and extend their lead at the summit of Serie A

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has labelled Cristiano Ronaldo's winning goal in the comeback success over Empoli as a "moment of magic".

Francesco Caputo opened the scoring for the hosts after 28 minutes as Juve's unbeaten record in Serie A looked under threat.

But Ismael Bennacer's foul on Paul Dybala allowed Ronaldo to level nine minutes after half-time.

Empoli, who were promoted from Serie B as champions, held firm but there were powerless to prevent Ronaldo firing home the winner with a blistering strike from 25 yards.

Ronaldo's double extends Juventus' lead at the top of the Italian top flight to seven points ahead of Napoli's clash with Roma on Sunday, and takes his personal tally to seven since his summer move from Real Madrid.

“I told the lads, this was a game we had to win, it didn’t matter how well or badly we played," Allegri told Sky Sport Italia after the 2-1 victory.

"The goal was a moment of magic from an extraordinary player and it’s something kids will try to copy in the schoolyard.

"It’s much easier to get kids passionate about that rather than explaining tactics to them.

“I continue to maintain there is too much theory in Italian football schools and it pains me to see kids go to training and not even enjoy themselves.

"We’ve got to focus on the simple things in life first.”

Victory for Juve came after a week in which they dropped their first domestic points of the season against Genoa, prior to beating Manchester United in the Champions League at Old Trafford.

However, Allegri found no fault with his side's initial approach, and praised Empoli for showing great heart throughout the 90 minutes.

“The team had started with the right approach, but after 10 minutes we slowed down the tempo of our passing and allowed a few too many Empoli counters,” he added.

TV/MoviesTop Twenty Bollywood Stars Today - Male Plus Female by zolaman(op): 8:18am On Oct 27, 2018
There was a article here a week or so back Kareena Kapoor Bigger Than John Abraham which led to many emails asking for the top stars in the country including male and female. A top ten would be pointless as its basically the male stars though number ten is a close run thing between Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. There are no female stars in the top ten but Deepika Padukone would have been at number ten before the emergence of Tiger Shroff with Baaghi 2. This would have been February and since then Alia Bhatt has become the most popular female star in the country after Raazi.

The initial of Sanju means that Ranbir Kapoor is on the coat tails of the big four. He would probably have been in the top four if Sanju was not a Rajkumar Hirani film. The below positions are not based on just box office numbers as its difficult to bring in female stars that way as the credit has to be calculated and even male stars (barring Akshay Kumar in last few films) are padded with other elements and are not totally depending on themselves for the numbers. It takes everything into account and reflects that scenario. These positions will be updated every quarter and next update will be October. The male rankings based on just purely on box office numbers will put up soon and the huge initials of Race 3 and Sanju should be reflected in that.

SportsEnd Of An Era: Messi And Ronaldo Miss Out On Clasico For First Time In More Than by zolaman(op): 8:03am On Oct 21, 2018
Not since December 2007 have both players been absent for Spanish football's most famous battle
Next Sunday's Clasico will have an unfamiliar feel to it, as Barcelona and Real Madrid face off without the two players who have defined an era in the last decade.

Madrid are struggling to adapt to life without Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus in the summer having led the Blancos attack in stunning style since 2009.

And now Barcelona will also have to soldier on in the absence of their talisman.

Lionel Messi was forced off after just 26 minutes on Saturday when he fell heavily on his right arm during Barca's 4-2 victory over fellow Liga challengers Sevilla.

In typical Messi style, he had already contributed a goal and an assist to the Catalans' efforts before hurting himself, a double salvo that underlines his importance to Ernesto Valverde's team.

And now, with confirmation he will miss three weeks of action with a fracture in the limb, Barca know they must welcome their arch-rivals to Camp Nou without the presence of the record-breaking Argentine wizard.

To find the last time neither Ronaldo nor Messi took part in the Clasico, moreover, one must look all the way back to the end of 2007, a full 11 years.

The Portuguese was still leading the way at Manchester United at that time, while Messi was laid low by a torn thigh muscle once more in the week leading up to the blockbuster match.

Barcelona lined up with Victor Valdes; Eric Abidal, Rafa Marquez, Carles Puyol, Gabriel Milito, Deco, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Yaya Toure, Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o. Madrid's starting XI was Iker Casillas, Gabriel Heinze, Fabio Cannavaro, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Lassana Diarra, Wesley Sneijder, Julio Baptista, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Raul and Robinho.

In a tight game at Camp Nou, the visitors took the honours thanks to a solitary goal from Julio Baptista, and went on to defend their Liga title by finishing eight points clear of nearest challengers Villarreal and a full 18 points ahead of Barca, who were relegated to third.

Gabriel Milito Barcelona Real Madrid 23122007

Indeed, Barcelona's fortunes in the Clasico without their No. 10 have been positively cursed since Messi burst onto the scene in 2004.

Messi has missed just two Clasicos in the intervening 14 years, neither of which have ended with a Blaugrana win.

On April 1 2006 the youngster was nursing a muscle tear when Frank Rijkaard's men drew 1-1 with Madrid at Camp Nou, on their way to a Liga and Champions League double.

With 26 goals Messi is by far the highest scorer in Clasico history, outstripping both Alfredo Di Stefano and Ronaldo (18 goals each).

And news that he will not be available on Sunday has hit hard at Camp Nou, while it is clear that on the other side of Spanish football's great divide life without Ronaldo continues to disappoint.

SportsReal Madrid End Worst Scoring Run Ever As Ronaldo Absence Continues To Be Felt by zolaman(op): 2:18pm On Oct 20, 2018
Marcelo ended the goal drought of Julen Lopetegui's side, but not before they had gone 480 minutes without netting in all competitions

Real Madrid have made unwanted history as they have endured the longest goalless streak in the club's history.

As the clock ticked to the 56th minute of their encounter against Levante in La Liga, they had gone 465 minutes without finding the net - the longest run in the 116-year history of the side.

Marcelo did send a right-footed shot into the net quarter of an hour later, ending a 480-minute drought for the capital club.

Can the international break help Mohamed Salah turn the corner?
What we can expect from Thierry Henry the manager following Monaco appointment
Marco Asensio was the last player to find the net for Los Blancos, when he scored four minutes before half-time in a 1-0 home victory over Espanyol on September 20.

Subsequently, they have suffered a 3-0 loss to Sevilla in La Liga, were held scoreless by Atletico Madrid in their derby and were stunningly defeated 1-0 by Alaves in the Primera Division immediately before the international break. Additionally, they were the victims of a shock 1-0 defeat to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

The pressure continues to mount on head coach Julen Lopetegui, whose side slumped to a 2-0 deficit at home against Levante, despite enjoying the majority of the pressure in the game. As well as striking the woodwork, they also saw a goal ruled out following a VAR decision.

His side actually started the season in strong form going forward but since the first international break of the campaign, their offensive effectiveness has ground to a halt.

Prior to the September recess, they had scored 12 goals in four competitive fixtures, but subsequently they have mustered only five in seven games, three of which came at once against Roma in Europe.

Inevitably, scrutiny has fallen upon the club's transfer policy, which saw them offload five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus in a €100m (£88m/€115m) deal.

In the nine years Ronaldo spent at the Bernabeu, he scored 450 goals in only 438 appearances, including 44 in 44 games last season, suggesting that even at 33, he was losing none of his potency.

But they did not replace the Portuguese superstar in a like-for-like manner, instead opting to sign Mariano Diaz from Lyon, having sold the striker to the Ligue 1 outfit only 12 months earlier.

Their offensive troubles have led to increased speculation that they are ready to launch a huge bid for a world-renowned player next summer, with Paris Saint-Germain ace Neymar and Chelsea's Eden Hazard two of the targets that they are most readily associated with.

Anthony Joshua defended his world heavyweight titles with a devastating knockout of Alexander Povetkin after overcoming an early onslaught from the Russian at Wembley.

The British star blasted Povetkin to the canvas with a brutal assault in the seventh round and then floored the WBA mandatory challenger again to signal a sudden and dramatic ending to his 22nd professional victory.

As he returned to the scene of his epic win over Wladimir Klitschko, there would be more moments of concern for Joshua as he was wobbled and hurt in the early rounds, only to once again show his battling spirit to become the first man to stop Povetkin.

The rain-soaked stadium was lit up by pyrotechnics as Povetkin, decked out in a black robe, marched towards the ring, followed by the home favourite, whose entrance was announced by a rapper and raucous cheers from the huge crowd.

But the battles cries turned to gasps at ringside in the first round as Joshua was staggered by a left hook from Povetkin, who had menacingly stalked through the opening few minutes.

With blood dripping from Joshua's injured nose, Povetkin waited for another moment to pounce in the second and again found his range with a hurtful hook.

Joshua's defences remained worryingly easy for Povetkin to penetrate in the third as he rammed in an overhand right, before ducking low to deliver a hook, but the Brit began to reply with crisp counters.

A wayward elbow opened a cut over Povetkin's right eye in the fourth, briefly stalling his charge, and Joshua tried to force him onto the back foot with stinging jabs.

Povetkin would not be deterred easily and he unloaded hooks from either hand in the fifth, but Joshua used nimble footwork and his accurate left hand to neutralise the veteran in the sixth.

After finally gaining the measure of his determined foe, Joshua would create an explosive finale to the fight in the following round.

A straight right hand sent shockwaves through the legs of Povetkin, and a left hook followed by a right sent him crashing to the canvas. Povetkin clambered upwards in a daze and Joshua delivered a succession of crunching shots to seal a stunning triumph.

SportsRonaldo's Incredible Juventus Wage Revealed by zolaman(op): 4:55pm On Sep 04, 2018
The former Real Madrid star is reportedly earning more than three times the amount of the second highest-paid player, Gonzalo Higuain.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest-paid player in Serie A and earns three times more than anyone else in Italy's top-flight, according to a report published by Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Portuguese star has been the big talking point in Italy since his €100m (£88m/$117m) move to the Bianconeri in the summer.

Juve have a perfect record after their first three games of the season, but Ronaldo is yet to score a goal for his new team and has attracted criticism for his failure to find the net thus far.Despite his failure to score, it comes as no surprise that Ronaldo is top of the rankings when it comes to earnings, but the wage gap between the Juventus star and the rest of the league is quite astonishing.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed the wages of all Serie A players, with the 33-year-old taking home far more than any of his team-mates or rivals.

Ronaldo is earning an incredible €31 million (£28m/$36m) per season in Turin and is on a four-year deal with the reigning Serie A champions.

Not only is the five-time Ballon d'Or and Champions League winner by far the biggest earner in the league, but he earns more than three times as much as anyone else.

Gonzalo Higuain, who joined AC Milan from Juve after Ronaldo arrived in Turin, is the next best paid, raking in €9.5 million (£9m/$11m) per season.

After Higuain, it is fellow Argentine attacker and Juventus star Paulo Dybala on €7m (£6m/$8m), with Miralem Pjanic not far behind on €6.5m.

Unsurprisingly, Juventus' wage budget is far greater than any other teams in the division.

Massimiliano Allegri's men are currently spending €219m (£197m/$253m) per season on player salaries alone, while AC Milan are next as they hand out €140m (£126m/$162m) per year.

Roma are third, with their spending reaching €116m and €100m (£90m/$116m) respectively.

Empoli are the lowest spending team in the league with expenses of just €16m a season.

Cristiano Ronaldo's stunning overhead kick in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for Real Madrid against his current club Juventus has been voted as UEFA.com Goal of the Season.

Ronaldo's strike, which was applauded on the night by his opposing – and it turned out future – fans, topped the poll with nearly 200,000 of the total 346,915 votes. He succeeds his new Juve colleague Mario Mandžukić, who won last year for goal against Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final, while Lionel Messi took the award in both 2014/15 and 2015/16.
The runner-up was Dimitri Payet's goal in Marseille's 5-2 UEFA Europa League defeat of RB Leipzig, while third place went to Eva Navarro's goal for Spain in their Women's U17 EURO final victory against Germany in Lithuania in May.

This year's 11 nominees were selected by UEFA's Technical Observers, with one for each of the main UEFA competitions were been active over the past 12 months. Only goals registered in UEFA club or international fixtures were eligible for consideration
SportsNo Ronaldo, No Fans - Real Madrid Have Lowest La Liga Attendance In 10 Years by zolaman(op): 11:15am On Aug 20, 2018
Los Blancos had their worst home crowd since before the CR7 era, but got the result they wanted on the pitch with Gareth Bale finding the net

The post-Cristiano Ronaldo era at Real Madrid began the way the pre-Cristiano Ronaldo era ended, with a half-full Santiago Bernabeu.

Goals from Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale against Getafe got Julen Lopetegui's side off to the perfect start in the 2018-19 La Liga season, but the lack of home fans was as conspicious as the absence of their former talisman.

Just 48,466 people came through the turnstiles for the first home game of the season, which should have attracted both hardcore fans and football tourists to see some of the biggest names in world football.
The last time, Real played in front of such a paltry Santiago Bernabeu crowd was the final home game of the 2008-09 season, which came during a five-game losing streak that was started by the historic 6-2 Clasico defeat to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, who had both Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi scoring braces.

After that loss, Los Blancos slumped to second place in the table and decided to take the risk of breaking the world transfer record to sign a certain Portuguese attacker from Manchester United. Ronaldo moved to Madrid in June 2009, spending the next nine seasons at the club where he won four Champions League titles but just two Ligas.
With Ronaldo now gone to Juventus, fans failed to turn up for Madrid's first game of the season, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's shadow cast large over the empty seats in the stadium.

No replacement has been brought in to provide firepower in attack. Nobody can replace Ronaldo's record of 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid, but new head coach Lopetegui had to rely upon the familiar faces of Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema and Bale to lead the line up front.

Bale started the season the way he started the last two campaigns - with a goal in the opening fixture - and will be expected to take on more of the burden in attack, having played just 26 Liga games last season and 19 in the previous campaign.

The empty seats at the Bernabeu were not just down to Ronaldo's summer switch, with the late kickoff time also hindering many younger fans from attending. Perhaps more importantly were the lack of new faces on show. Every single one of the starting XI was at the club last season, while the three substitutes brought on during the second half were also Zinedine Zidane regulars.

Fans hoping for a glimpse of new goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in action will have to wait at least another week to see the World Cup Golden Glove winner, while €45 million (£40m/$51m) wonderkid Vinicius Junior was restricted to a role on the bench.

Real Madrid may have not gotten the attendance they wanted for the opening game, but they got the three points needed to ensure they compete for the title again. The fans have not yet forgotten Ronaldo, but more victories can help the transition and get the crowds back to Santiago Bernabeu.

In a footage recorded in September 2017, Yusuf was offered a sum to influence his selection at the regional championship that was held in Ghana

Sequel to 'Number 12’ controversy that rocked Ghana football, attention has shifted to its Nigerian counterpart, with Super Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf the latest caught in the entrapment of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Salisu who led the Nigeria B side to the Wafu Cup of Nations in Ghana was filmed by Anas’ Tiger Eye PI agency in September 2017 collecting cash believed to be $1000 from undercovers, posing as agents in order to influence players’ selection at the tournament.

Also, the former Kano Pillars handler was promised 15% from the players’ contracts should they get snapped up, with the gaffer in turn promising the agents spots for both players at the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco.

The players were not named in the footage as Nigeria went all the way to the final, where they were handed a 4-1 defeat by hosts Ghana - their only loss in the competition.

Salisu took the team to CHAN in Morocco earlier this year, where they also finished second behind the hosts. And he was Gernot Rohr’s assistant to the recently concluded World Cup in Russia, where the Super Eagles were unable to navigate their way past Group D.

The 56-year-old was brought in Sunday Oliseh’s stead after the former Juventus’ player dismissal in 2016.

He masterminded friendly victories over Mali and Luxembourg before the Nigeria Football Federation announced Gernot Rohr as a substantive coach, whom he became his assistant.
