The current capacity is 4,500 megawatts.
“The cost of providing electricity per megawatt on average is $2billion. To get to where South Africa is, you will need about $3.2trillion (about N672trillion). Where will you find that kind of money?” he asked
.

____

Once again, "where South Africa is" could NEVER mean 160 000 MW. Never.
you always have a very pathetic claim to reason. how can the cost of providing electricity per megawatts be $2bil dols. are this things not determined by certain factors? or will the cost of getting power from a nuclear plant be the same cost of getting power from a wind farm.

You should really start shutting the f.cvk up. More and more you expose your ignorance on a grand scale.

Firstly the average Nigerian are5times poorer then the average township dweller in SA, now do you call that resilience.

Secondly you call your f..uckt.ards resilient yet you are the Africa's most disease ridden nation, including the fact that 10.% of your countryman who lives outside your sh....it hole are either yahoo boys, drug dealers or languishing in foreign jails. Do you call this resilience or cowardice DNA embedded in your genes.

So much for the giants of hot air.

Lol I saw this late.

It's funny how a troglodyte like you thinks he can educate a vastly exposed & knowledgeable guy like myself....... Lol It's just laughable.

I'm really tired & in no mood to respond appropriately to this diatribe... However, the simple fact you must accept is that; Nigeria completely lacks the needed technological advancement & infrastructure to deal with the complexities of drone operations, this is an irrefutable reality.

These aren't the paper kites you fly in your backyard, these are unmanned arial vehicles loaded with missiles, no country in their right mind will sell Nigeria drones, doing so will be akin to handing a 6 year old child a grenade.

Sort out the basics first, like electricity, good roads etc before you start dreaming of belonging to the big league.

That pic may be from a drone strike (which I highly doubt) but definitely not a Nigerian drone.

Missy89:
The topic clearly states that it was a boko haram tank which is very false.

Now AR1 missiles on CH -3 drones are armed by TV guided missiles which means that can only hit precision stationary targets. The AR1 cannot handle other types of guidance systems because the radars are usually too heavy for the drones to carry. So there is no way to put a heat seeking missle AR1 on a drone.

Now when you say that an antitank missile can have a huge explosion like that if it was propped up by inflammables, that can be true but it was clear that the target in the video had one direct impact. A situation that would lead to that kind of explosion if it was an anti tank missile will take several seconds after the first hit for other inflamables in the tank to fully explode and not the first hit since most antitank missles have very small armor penetrating radius
your just messing your own argument up. if there is no way to put a heat seeking missile on a drone then what do you put on it?

No, that shymexx guy is a bloody retarrd. Zukasteve, derkasier et al, made very valid/sound points.

The VBIED had a secondary explosion after the initial projectile from the CH-3A hit the jihadist vehicle.

The CH-3A carries two AR-1 ATGM's. The flow of debris moving forward also shows something from above and not a tank shell hit the VBIED.

It's a simple matter really.

Prick, did you read the link you posted? I know most of you have reading and comprehension problems, so I'll break it down for you.

Excepts:

Although operated by Pakistan, the CH-3 was not previously reported to be in service with Nigeria or neighbouring countries.

While the photographs show the UAV being inspected by African men, the claim that the CH-3 came down in Nigeria remains unconfirmed

Two guided munitions can be seen on the upside-down aircraft; one appears to be an AR-1 laser-guided missile, while the other may be an FT-5: a small Chinese guided bomb that was designed for use with UAVs.

Summary: the drone is operated by Pakistan (made in China), and how it got to naij is still a mystery. So, how's that Nigeria's?

Moreover, AR-1 missiles aren't tank-busters, just normal semi laser-guided missiles...and that alone should tell you that using it on a tank is just dumb. That's like shooting someone with a water-gun.

Also, even if you don't know about military, you should know that coordinate/target needs to be fixed before taking a shot. So, you expect me to believe the shifting crap in that video, no? grin Go take a nap - it's obvious you done lost ya darn cotton picking mind.
come if i hear you say tank buster again. why dont you waste your time and mb and search wikipedia for the AR1. even if the AR1 is not an anti tank missile BH does not operate the kind of tanks that you even need anti tank missiles for. but the AR1 is anti tank guilded missile.( ATGM)

zukasteve , DerKaiser and all of you attacking Sirshymexx are actually the ignorant ones here.

He made a valid point. Only few drones can carry anti tank weapons because of the payload weight (They are usually deployed on Helicopters, APC or in person). Apart from the Hell fire missile used the the predator drone, there are few drones capable of doing the same.

Now its either the "drone" in the video is hitting a normal vehicle or the title of the video is not real.

It looks more like a surveillance drone and the explosion looks more like an IED. Even anti tank missile wouldn't have that huge explosive radius on a tank and a tank cant be as fast as it was seen in that video from that altitude.
that clearly wasnt a tank. who said it was a tank? an anti tank missile would have a huge explosion, if the initial impact explosion was propped up by inflamables in the target and possible explosives like RPG rockets or grenades.
a week before this video came out we saw a chinese made drone crashed within our borders, this drone was carrying the AR1 ATGM which is an anti tank missile. that car amy not be a tank, but it sure was hit by an external projectile, most possibly our AR1 missiles

More like it.

However, why did they put this tripe out there as a drone strike?

They are just making the country look stupid - only God knows who's reading this thread. Heck, when I saw drone strike on a tank by naij - I just started laughing without even seeing the video. But after seeing the video - I started shedding tears. Comic relief.

C'mon armed drones are top military hardware no country would give you access to like that. And the ones that carry tank-busters are exclusive to only the US and Israel for now (maybe a few European countries) - and there's absolutely no way in hell they'll allow naij near those birds. You don't want folks stealing that technology.
why are you all over this thread embarrasing your parents. what do you mean by tank buster?
cmon! have some decency and shut up. ATGMs is owned by almost every military world over. why do you keep saying this "tank buster" thing, did you see it in a game? if only the europeans have ATGMs then what did the chadians use to take out the libyan Tanks during the toyota war on the aozou strip? missiles are not specifically made for drones, drones are made to operate them. the nigerian army can decide to rebuild the AmeboIII Drone to enable it carry the chinese made AR1 missiles which are also ATGMs ( anti tank guilded missile). the south african made seeker drone carries a missile made by DENEL. so why this depiction of overiped dumbness by you now.

Olodo. What do you know about military hardwares? Pathetic armchair military analysts and failed wannabe rapper.

Do you have any idea what a target lock means? Drones and Jet fighters do not need to keep their crosshair on a locked target to hit it.

They acquire targets electronically and then let off the missiles which follows the targets using heat-seeking technology.

The crosshair following that vehicle was just monitoring its movement until the missile hits after which you can clearly see it retract its surveillance camera.

Use your brain for once sometimes before making silly comments or ignore topics you have no idea of.

So this blurry picture is supposed to serve as proof that a Nigerian "drone" took out a boko haram tank?

When did Nigeria start operating UAVs? Where did they get it from? A country that barely has a functioning Air Force, all of a sudden possesses the skills & technical know-how involved in carrying out drone operations?

Does this sound plausible to anyone?
how dumb can you be and yet you know how to write in english language. have you been living in a hole? what do you think a UAV is and what do you think a UCAV is? there is hardly any country in africa at present that doesnt operate at least a surveillance or just video coverage drones. the picture you saw ws blurry because Armed drones strike from very high altitude, therefore it takes the high capacity of the drones camera for you to even see anything. or havent you watched drone strikes by US predator drones?
if you listen to news as much as you soend time asking disputing facts you should know that a Armed chinese made drone crashed inside our borders the other week. if you think the drone is not for nigeria or if you think its for France then let me tell you now that the United states cannot make purchase a chinese made drone when they have dozens of more advanced drones in their military collection. France the same way cannot operate chinese made Drones because they get most of their Drones from European producers or the US. so are you telling us that its our francophone neighbours that have it? well france already have a drone base in chad to serve the interest of its former colonies.
so son, look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you re dull.

Henry120:
Nigerians!!!!

You people complain too much. Nigerian troops like every other troops receive proper military burials.

Here is a cenotaph right in the middle of military cemetery in Abuja, in honour of our fallen troops.

January 15 of every year is armed forces remembrance day, with the President, Vice-President, Senate President, Speaker of the House, Governors and their deputies, Minister of Defence and all service chiefs and members of the diplomatic corp always in attendance.

How many countries in Africa do these?

I don't know what you are complaining about, i really don't know.

Medals are also awarded to troops for valour, courage, selflessness, operational efficiency to troops at ceremonies and on their treatment beds.
rka1:
My friend, different scenarios. The Chadian and South African soldiers were repatriated to the airport where ceremonies were held before they are then conveyed to their final destination.
If Nigerian soldiers are killed abroad, the same thing would happen when they are flown in at whichever airport they are received.
The Picture of the Nigerian burial was probably a more local burial at a State military cemetery. And just because the camera wasn't mounted on a tripod has no relevance whatsoever.
a complaining nigerian is better than a nigerian that is deceiving himself.
how can you ask such a dumb question like which african nation does that? isnt that the height of mediocrity. how do you even measure the progress of a nation? by comparing it with nations with less means.
i said the way the nigerian armed forces conduct the burial rites of their slain soldiers is very poor and it is only reflective of the level of government unconcern and unprofessionalism in the nigerian armed forces.
please Oga henry and Rka1 post pictures of the best nigerian armed forces cementry you know about, and compare it with that of some other african countries. since we have south africans and kenyans on board i will be posting pictures of the SADF deville wood memorial and other pictures of kenyan Mil cementaries.
the worst thing that could ever happen to a man is to allow his patriotism to blind his eyes to the realities on ground in his country.

now compare this photos of the south african cementry to the epitaph( or whatsoever the f£"k you called it,) that our federal government must have spent some inconceivable amount of money to build.
the most annoying thing about a Nigerian being partisan is that he doesn't mind sacrificing his own interest at the alter of political partisanship

how can you say everything is okay when you know that deep down everything isn't.
did you read the article by the foreign military official on beegeagle's blog? did you not at all see any truth in some of the points he raised?
Meanwhile, BH can be largely defeated by your Army operating with decent ammunition supplies, proper comms systems, working logistics support. Fast jets, tanks are all important and may help a little and you may need them one day to face down other state players, but they will not win this war against BH; their huge costs mean soldiers will go on doing without the basic things they need so badly at platoon, company and battalion level – like radios and ammunition and body armour and medical support and……
have stated times without number that the basic needs of our troops are being abandoned, and the government and her officials with their very dubious intention to gain from embezzling funds meant for the procurement of high tech and heavy military assets which could have being used to improve our troops logistics, feeding ( imagine troops cooking their own food. doesnt this border even you) basic safety kits and meds. they keep telling us that our troops are well kitted. when we know fully well that, that is not the case. what plans are being made for their feeding in frontline camps? what plans are being made to ensure that a soldier wounded in battle is moved to receive standard treatment within the shortest time possible?
what plans are being made to ensure that the children of our dead Men continue to receive government sponsor for their education?
there was a time when the basic need of an infantry man was just a rifle, times have changed.
i see the way top officials of our armed forces react to complaints by men under their command or their relatives about this same issue of poor equipments, logistics and supply. they reply as if they own the life of the men under their command and sometimes drag them to the court martial, the COAS was even threatening to whip up the wives and relatives of officers if they try to protest the deployment of their fathers, husbands and sons to untimely death that could be easily prevented.

the same thing happened when American soldiers were about to be deployed to the gulf war in 1991, the American citizens protested allover and rejected the decision by the government of George H.W Bush ( the senior) to send American boys to defend Saudi Arabia and to force the retreat of Saddam's troop from Kuwait, they feared a repeatation of the Vietnam carnage and kicked against this deployment. but the American government came out and gave one of the world most powerful wartime speech to the Nation.
IF ONE AMERICAN SOLDIER HAS TO GO INTO BATTLE, THAT SOLDIER WILL HAVE ENOUGH FORCE BEHIND HIM TO WIN AND THEN GET OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS WILL NOT BE ANOTHER VIETNAM
George H.W Bush
this is how leaders instill confidence on their citizens and Men.
i for one do not admire mediocrity. so even if tomorrow the Nigerian government purchases the Russian T50 stealth aircraft, i will still not be impressed till i start seeing the changes going on in the military on the life of each and every single officers and men of the Nigerian armed forces.
