Undergraduate Admission Matters

(Full-Time Regular Students)

Admissions Requirements and Procedures

Entry by University Matriculation Examination (UME)

dmission into the University of Ibadan like all federal Universities is through the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, consequent upon writing the University Matriculation Examination (U.M.E.) and obtaining a minimum of 200 marks in the examination.

In addition to the above requirements, candidates are expected to have passed 5 ‘O’ level subjects at Credit level in five relevant subjects at One Sitting or six in Two Sittings. Credit pass in English is compulsory for all faculties. A Credit pass in Mathematics is compulsory for all Science based courses. However, a pass in Mathematics is allowed for all courses in the faculty of the Social Sciences except Economics where a Credit is required. Candidates should note that to qualify for consideration in any of the courses in the College of Medicine, it is mandatory to have obtained at least the 5 ‘O’ level Credits at One Sitting. The University of Ibadan in the last four years developed a model for the admission of her candidates by finding the average of the ‘O’ level (60%) and UME (40%) to arrive at an acceptable cut-off mark for each discipline. It is important to mention that the cut-off marks are not static.

1. Candidates must have reached the age of sixteen years on the first day of October in the year of their admission.

2. There are two categories of candidates, the University Matriculation Examinations (UME) candidates, and Direct Entry (DE).

3. Candidates offered admission either through the University Matriculation Examination or by Direct Entry of the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board must have met the basic requirements for admission in the University and/or their respective departments.

Direct Entry Requirements

Candidates with ‘A’ level results, OND (Ordinary National Diploma), HND (Higher National Diploma), NCE (Nigeria Certificate of Education) or equivalent qualifications are admitted into the 200/300 level by Direct entry, having first obtained the necessary forms from JAMB, and also meet general ‘O’ level requirements of the faculty for which admission is being sought. However, they are not made to write any other examination either by JAMB or the University (for now).

Procedures

· Information is available on the university’s website for prospective applicants to subm

the certificate has a set of numbers on the reverse side (at the back)that they called certificate number.
i want to believe you have nothing to complain about then, i believe academic cert always has cert no only, while statement of results bears mat no and the likes...my opinion!

kbshow100:
I'm not happy with NOUN at all. I'm very disappointed with quality of the certificate they gave us,
Please just imagine a certificate without student identify number. HABA!!! It means any body with the same name can claim that certificate. There is no where in the academic world that they will issue you a certificate without your matric/registration/identity number.

I'm really disappointed. If any body want to trace that certificate, it won't be easy
sorry, Please i need to get you clearly, are you saying the certificate has no any certificate number on top or you want matric/reg number . cos i have a cert from federal institution as well w/out reg or mat no but only certificate number on the right hand corner, which i think is the standard

Please house, I had if someone couldn't make it to the graduation ceremony and not collect certificate on that day, ha/she has to wait for about 6month and still pay some money , even if he/she has his center clearance done already. Pls how true is it?

Please, graduating students from other study centre, how did you get your Final Clearance Form? it cost #200 at ibadan study centre and Graduate Exit Survey can only be done at the study centre which is #120. To get these two documents, you waste a lot of time. These and other things make the centre look like a disorganized centre. Is this the same with what we have in other centres?
Then if one is not going for the graduation, can such person postpone the clearance?
why this centre Staffs gaining leasure in sufering pple? from your year 1 to final year is always a war in this centre , after all the stress, to graduate they are still frustrating graduand. even changing some old staffs thing keep on moving awry........infact

cheesy
I had my degree via Direct Entry after my ND Programme in the polytechnic.

Just like yours, my degree transcripts contained info from 200 level.

Whilst sending application to schools, in addition to other documents,I only attached my ND statement of result ( I recently picked up the certificate), degree statement of result + degree transcripts. The two schools I applied to accepted my applications and offered me admission.

So, I'll advise you always include your ND SOR/certificate to your applications. But if you could also get your ND transcripts, better. If you can't, don't bother yourself.

I hope that you'll find this helpful.

Thanks a lot , this clear my doubt
