I don't believe anyone can build a house in Lagos without approval from government.
In fact, officials move around Lagos to inspect and stop building constructions that are not approved by the government.
This is a land grabbing move b the government.

Who told u diz ... ur u just dey imagine within ur brain

U guys would be using Abuja as a way to destroy peoples property.

Keep bringing up the lies.

When they fenced,u didn't demolish, when they started foundation u still left it,but now that they have finished erecting those structures,it is now regarded as illegal.

This is pure wickedness, just imagine people from such area reading this now.
Abuja is different, development control will mark the building even at foundation level,if the developer don't listen they will leave it till it is completed and they will bring it down. The major problem is the corrupt civil servants collecting money from developers for approvals, some developers are just stubborn......

Isn't this more like an indictment on themselves.

Why are buildings springing up without approvals. Who monitors such?

No wonder there are alot of inferior buildings waiting to collapse.

Calm down. Even in a civilised world, if the local council approve a plan for you, they will wait till the building is completed before they come to see if you follow the approvals given to you. If you go against that approval, you will be penalised to pay huge fine and also you cover the cost of demolishing.
We Nigerians can't do things the right way without supervision, which is very bad.

Government of shame this one is Government stealing by trick because how many approval will you get to be able to build a house. Let Government just build all the houses and sale to the people to avoid demolition.

Thank you for saying it the way it is. Almost all developers will go and bribe some bad civil servants and they will continue constructing the building forgetting that the records with the government is still intact.
Imagine someone getting approval for 1 storey building but built 3-4 storey building on that same land. And if the government show up, they will rush to social media that the government hate them.

Government will not seek you.
It's your duty to seek them and get the necessary approvals.

If you fail to do what you should, whatever you see, take it like that.

Another Propaganda to demolishing people's properties - the hallmark of recent Lagos State...

Any target group in particular? Ur guess is as good as ours!

"80%" reeks of LASG's hypocrisy, shameful, corruption, penchant to cause wanton destruction, conniving, wickedly retrogressive & reactive policy, deliberately causing more harm than good!

But why is it that when government moves to demolish the owners don't present such approval and documents?

Or since last year have you heard of any home owner taking the state government to court to enforce their rights? Why? Is it because they have no approvals?

Nigerian estate developers will willingly and knowingly buy land designated for farmland, turn it into an estate, and start selling and they say in the background that "government can't demolish, the worst is to ratify"

Ikorodu is another one. They have sold all the farmlands there for private houses.

There's nothing like designating land for the farm. That language is ridiculous. It is a land-grabbing scheme.

They did.Government said the approvals were Fake or governor didn't sign it.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, if you can read this message, beam your searchlights on the ministry of lands in Alausa. A lot is happening there. That's a major problem of Lagos State. I won't write more than this.

The best solution for those who own properties there is to sell them, even at below market prices. Unfortunately, ignorant people would be the buyers.

I pity those who rush to buy land from real estate people. We now have so many of them in this Lekki-Ajah axis. When real estates companies buy the whole land l, please tell me which land will be use for Agriculture. Or na only buildings we wan chop? I told my wife I would rather buy an apartment instead land. Lagos is so complicated when it comes to land. Many fake documents spreading all over.

Don't mind foolish people. Aside my South East, the only other region in this country I have a property is in south south in Port Harcourt where I have a block of flats and maybe in Calabar where I already have some empty parcels of land.

The day my inlaw told me he wants to buy land in Lagos I nearly slap em head

The issues highlighted regarding development in Lekki Peninsula raise critical concerns about urban planning, infrastructure development, and governance. It's clear that there are challenges in coordinating and managing the growth of estates and communities in the area.

The observation that developers have invested heavily in infrastructure without sufficient government support is significant. It underscores the need for effective partnerships between the public and private sectors to ensure sustainable development and adequate provision of essential services.

The call for coordinated planning and the demolition of uncoordinated estates to make way for planned roads reflects a long-term vision for urban development. However, such actions must be carried out with sensitivity to the communities affected and with transparent, inclusive planning processes.

Ultimately, achieving a well-planned and functional city like Abuja requires holistic strategies, strong leadership, and collaboration among stakeholders to address infrastructure gaps, promote sustainable development, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
