Who are you referring to, pls?
Asue or Philip?
I'm an outsider so I know little or nothing about Edo politics. Thank you.

Modified: I assume you're talking about Philip Shaibu.

Do you think he is governor of esan land or of Edo state, let him try to be governor of only esan land which is the smallest senatorial district and see if he will get second term. He is governor of the whole state
if language is not important, opposition wont. E campaigning with it.

If you care about people you want to govern, the first major step is to learn how to communicate with them properly to know what their problems are in order to know how to fix them.

How is this a rocket science for you na.

there are over 53 languages spoken in edo state.

How many will Asue learn?

how many languages does Peter Obi or Tinubu speak to want to rule Nigeria?
they said he can't speak the language of his people, thats what me jm responding to.

I don't care if there is 1billion language in Edo. A leader must be able to speak the language of the people he wants to govern.
Simple as ABC.
If I care about Spanish people so much that I want to fix their problems through governance, I first need to be able to communicate with them in the language they understand well.

if you don't care enough to learn the language of the people you want to rule, what makes you think he will care enough for their plight?

Most of you just talk without thinking.
But Edo state is a multilingual state and has no central language. Besides, English is the official Language of the state, so which one do you want him to learn?

"the language of the people he wants to govern" would normally translate to "the most spoken language" in Edo state and that would be pidgin english.

I guess you mean "A leader must be able speak at least one of the many indigenous languages of the people he wants to govern".

Not everybody has the brain to learn a language especially when you have come of age. He however has accomplished far more than learning Esan would've done for him
The man certainly has achievements no one can ignore. But isn't preserving the culture and language part of the duties of political leaders?

Not been able to fluently speak ones language is the only thing involved in preserving ones culture? There are so many other ways he could preserve his culture besides using the language.

So because opposition made it a topic, that makes you think it’s a reasonable topic. Is he governing a section of the state or the whole state, when he meets with his commissioners to solve issues, is it the Esan language they will speak at the meeting?

Abeg shift with this your gutter level reasoning . Is people like you that makes them refer to you as a third world country .

I Dey find person to reason intellectually, this one they talk language…..spits

No, but it's one of the ways. I hope you know Esan language is fast on the road to dying out. In fact, at the present rate, there'll be no Esan speakers by 2132 AD. If political leaders aren't concerned about about that, I don't know who should be and who will save the language.

Re: He Will Need An Interpreter As Gov – Shaibu Shades PDP Candidate, Asue Ighodalo by Efuaye(m): 4:23pm On May 02
Professor Ambrose Ali if my memory serves me well, couldn't speak Esan language but ended up being the best governor of the then Bendel state. AI might end up beating that record if elected looking at his past records.
Asue is the best candidate.

Very stupid Shuaibu...no wonder they kicked him out of the office before his time.
A nonentity that thinks speaking ones dialect is the only good thing about been a Governor.

Lucky Igbinedion that spoke the language very well, what did he offer to the people of Edo?
Including almost all the past governors that can speak the language. No wonder Edo state has perpetually remained behind in the scheme of performing States because we look for the most trivial of reasons to crown one as Governor.

I fully support Peter Obi, any day and any time and twice on election days, but I will pick Asue Ighodalo over any other nonentity Governorship candidates because his track records and excellence in the public and especially private sector is very similar to Peter Obi's. As a matter of fact, I would gladly put in as freelance to work with Asue Ighodalo if possible.
him and Obaseki wen sabi speak wetin come out😂😂😂 make him dey deceive himself
