Would it not have been a better injection into the Nigerian economy, if those given the paltry sum of N50k as business grants, were actually given N500k with money used to subsidise pilgrimage?

Pilgrimage is a personal desire.

A law must be passed to stop all states and federal government from spending public funds on any sort of pilgrimage financing.

...And who will pass the law?!! Which senate?!!

Let's keep pretending that we have a normal functioning democracy with transparency in Nigeria.

No President can ever succeed without subsidizing hajj & christian prilgimage. From OBJ down to Tinubu, no president dares these two religious bodies with the highest number of worshippers/voters.

What is the benefit of the hajj and any other pilgrimage to the economy of Nigeria?

When will our leaders learn that we are not a rich country that can afford all of these wastes?

I know the hypocrite who purchased over 450 SUVs for traditional leaders in Anambra, will also come out to complain about waste, as if he is not one and same with the wasteful political leadership of this country.

You see how little you think, these were years when 1 dollar wasn't even upto 300naira, and these cars are actually resellable, what's the benefit of this hajj trip, to go and pray as if GOD isn't everywhere. A King is meant to have an official car so it's no waste of an investment. Of what benefit is this trip to both the communities and the states at large.

Yours above is an old one I heard many, many years ago. I just heard the new one about the backyard a few weeks ago.

This dark humour is perhaps the only reason mental illness in this country isn't at an all time high. We laugh at these things, forget yesterday's (and today's) problems and look forward to tomorrow.

The only issue is that the problems don't go away. sad

90bn could have been used for other better stuffs. Close down the damn pilgrimage funding from the government and let anyone doing excursion to Makkah/Jerusalem to find the money by themselves.

The Imbecilic behaviour of our leaders cannot be quantified.
They removed subsidies on petrol, diesel etc. Also they remove on electricity for the common man only to subsidies for Pilgrimage. Who swear for our govament.
