Politics / Re: FULL LIST: ASUU, TCN, Banks, Others Join NLC Nationwide Strike by press9jatv: 1:02pm
inflation has been in existence even before Tinubu came to power, Tinubu economic policies even makes the inflation to increase more. Why can’t Tinubu and the political office holders passed a bill that reduced their salaries and allowances monthly. They will never do that. They are even proposing bills that will increase their salaries and allowances. Nlc should demand their wage. It’s their right.

For the past few months i've been battling with a lot, burnt through a lot of resources just to battle the failing health of my Dad... God knows how much Real Madrid & Football games in general has kept me going, i clearly broke down in tears at that comeback against Bayern and my girl thought it was just the game but it was all the emotions and pains i've been bottling up that just got loosed cry

I'm already looking forward to our 15th tomorrow and another reason to be happy in the midst of my Tribulations but now the zeal for it just got lost.

Well Death won.. i just lost my Dad this afternoon

Tbh i'm not prepared for it Emotionally, Physically and Financially anymore

Goodluck to our Boys tomorrow
Sorry for your loss bro.

Tinubu said if he becomes President that there will be no ASUU Strike again.

But just to wrap up his one year in Office, the entire Nigeria Labour Congress dived into Industrial Action.

This one is a total shut down!!!

Foreign Affairs / Re: Pentagon Seeks Books On Russian Military Strategy by rottennaija(m): 1:02pm
The order, which was made in mid-May on the government’s e-procurement system, is for the following books:

‘Strategiya: The Foundations of the Russian Art of Strategy’ by Ofer Fridman, a lecturer at King’s College London; ‘Russian Grand Strategy in the Era of Global Power Competition’ by Andrew Monaghan; and ‘Putin’s War on Ukraine: Russia’s Campaign for Global Counter-Revolution’ by Samuel Ramani. Also on the list is ‘The Seven Military Classics of Ancient China,’ accompanied by two more books on the combat application of artificial intelligence and space warfare.

Anything else that can be found is also purchased with propriety.

One thing about supporting bad governance because it favours you is that, in the long run, all you gained will diminish to absolute zero.
Those who supported Buhari are crying today because the benefits they gained have been swallowed by the present manifestation of previous Buhari's maladministration:
1.Their investments are eaten up by inflation and high dollar exchange rate.

2.The millions they saved have been reduced to nothing by inflation

3. There siblings struggle to retain their jobs because major conglomerate have closed down and more are leaving the country

YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OF BAD GOVERNANCE MR. HELINUES.

You are on a long thing. The strike is being hosted by TUC President and funded by FCT minister. Ajaero has nothing to do with it. He's just playing The compatriot. Plus he will get some cowries from it. The strike is about FCT minister's desperation to hijack the APC machinery inorder to engineer a pathway for him to emerge as the APC's presidential candidate in the 2027 election. Nobody is going to march in the hot sun for you to eat bread twice a day.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC commenced a nationwide industrial action on Monday in protest against the N60,000 minimum wage proposal of the Federal Government.

Politics / 5 Countries That Recently Changed Their National Anthem by coputa(m): 1:00pm
In recent years, several countries have taken the bold step of revising their anthems to better reflect contemporary values and inclusivity. On Wednesday, May 29, Nigeria reinstated their old anthem as the official national anthem of the country.

In that light, here is a rundown of five countries around the world that have recently altered their national anthems:

Australia
Australia’s national anthem, “Advance Australia Fair,” underwent a significant change on January 1, 2021. The second line of the anthem was altered from “For we are young and free” to “For we are one and free.” This change aimed to acknowledge the long history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognizing that Australia’s history spans tens of thousands of years, far preceding European settlement. This small yet significant modification reflects Australia’s commitment to unity and reconciliation with its Indigenous population.

Austria
In 2012, Austria modified its national anthem, “Land der Berge, Land am Strome” (Land of Mountains, Land by the River), to promote gender inclusivity. The original lyrics, which exclusively referenced “great sons,” were changed to “great daughters and sons.” This alteration aimed to ensure that the anthem represents all Austrians, regardless of gender, fostering a sense of equality and inclusiveness in the national narrative.

Canada
Canada made a notable change to its national anthem, “O Canada,” in 2018. The line “in all thy sons command” was changed to “in all of us command.” This modification was part of an ongoing effort to make the anthem more inclusive and reflective of all Canadians, regardless of gender. The move was widely seen as a positive step towards gender neutrality and inclusivity, aligning with contemporary Canadian values.

South Africa
South Africa’s national anthem is unique, combining excerpts from several different languages and songs, including the hymn “Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” and the former anthem “Die Stem van Suid-Afrika.” In recent years, minor changes have been made to the anthem to ensure proper pronunciation and inclusivity of all languages represented. These revisions reflect South Africa’s diverse cultural landscape and its commitment to honoring the linguistic heritage of all its people.

New Zealand
In 1977, the Government announced (in a supplement to the New Zealand Gazette issue of 17 November) that the national anthems of New Zealand would be the traditional anthem ‘God Save The Queen’ and the poem ‘God Defend New Zealand’. From this point on the two anthems have had equal status. Following the accession of King Charles III to the throne in September 2022, the words of the first anthem changed to ‘God Save The King’.

Chaii...its a pity! Look at what my fellow country men and women are debating. "Do your u have light in your area" it sounds awkward to me mehn.

This 21st century when countries are moving forward technologically , we are debating light. And i am sure hospitals will be shut off from the yeye national grid...talk of value for human life in that country.
