One reads it all over the place and everywhere that CORRUPTION is the major problem of Nigeria. That corruption is at the root of the Nigeria Crisis writ large.

So I have a simple question.

What is the CAUSE of corruption 🤔

1) no penalties, accountability, or consequences when caught

2) it's their way of getting back at the system that put them in a position to exert power

3) sheer greed

4) for cultural, institutionalised purposes ie your own people think you're not smart for underutilising the opportunity of a lifetime

5) poverty –both mentally and financially

What is the CAUSE of corruption 🤔
1. Greed
2. A porous system, especially one that deals with cash and has a lot of human contact. e-Governance could help solve this. Imagine I can interact and access government services without seeing a government official.
3. Weak law enforcement, political interference in cases of corruption.
4. Nepotism

I'm only posting because you answered the only thread I've opened. Your list of causes are relevant but they're not the ROOT cause of corruption. I've written on this before.
