Why Nigerians Face Visa Hitches Visiting Zambia by Euroclydon(m): 9:24am On Jul 26, 2012
ALTHOUGH Zambia says Nigeria is on its priority list on free entry into the country, The Guardian has learnt that such treatment is not accorded the country.

Zambian Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister, Given Lubinda, had recently said Nigerians visiting his country can obtain the travel documents at the point of entry, Nigeria is actually excluded from the list of nations, whose nationals could secure visas at the point of entry in Lusaka.

The Guardian had on Sunday reported that Nigerian journalists and other delegates, who applied for visas to attend the just-concluded Cable News Network (CNN)-Multichoice African Journalists’ Awards in Lusaka, experienced delays at the Zambian High Commission in Abuja partly due to tough requirements introduced by the authorities and the late submission of applications.
Officials of the High Commission, however, insisted on a five-day mandatory visa-processing period, which led some Nigerian officials to either fail to attend or arrive late for the event.
