Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, on Friday appointed 50 special advisers and 37 development area administrators.
Speaking shortly after the swearing-in of the political appointees in Yola, Nyako advised them to be committed to their duties.
“For the special advisers, you are appointed to assist government in decision making and to give it good advice in running its affairs.
“While the development areaadministrators are given theopportunity to serve the communities at the grass-roots level without favour orfear of any tribe or clan,” Nyako said.
The governor said that the appointments, especially thatof the development area administrators, would assist government in containing security challenges.
He said that the appointments would also support poverty eradication programmes in the state.
He said that his administration was making everything possible to address problems affecting the smooth implementation ofagricultural transformation programmes in the state.
“We are making everything possible to address the issues militating against the smooth and successful transformation of the agricultural sector in the state,” Nyako said.
He explained that successfulagricultural transformation was the only way of eradicating poverty among the people of the state and boost the economy among the communities.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, a Special Adviser to the Governor, Malam Maigari Boya, thankedthe governor for their appointment, and that they would not disappoint him.
“On behalf of my colleagues,I assure you that we will be committed to duty to justify the confidence reposed in us,” Boya said.
