Nigerian Graduates; Are You Just Another Half-baked Or You Earned Your Results? by ibhena(m): 11:45pm On Jul 29, 2012 |
Nigerian graduates have suffered series of attack from various quarters, ironically, even from people who were major shareholders in the systemic academic rape. Some of them say "Nigerian graduates are half-baked", others say "they (we) cannot construct simple sentences in English." But has anyone ever asked why, a good number of Nigerians studying abroad either at first degree or post graduate levels come out tops, if not best in their chosen fields? Common sense should tell anyone who cares to listen that something is terribly wrong with our colonial educational system, which serves left-over academic meals and recipes some of which have long been outdated and replaced with tasty modern ones (most of which will, sadly, still not get here until they are phased out again). Although the system is bad, we cannot totally ascribe the abysmal level of graduate quality to the system alone. The half-baked phenomenon may, however, not be completely false even as it cannot be absolute. If you're smart, you are smart. If you are brilliant, you're brilliant! So, can you defend your certificates, or you're just another half-baked graduate Personally, I earned every bit of mark, GP and by extension the class of degree I graduated with. I was never a recipient of donated marks! Sincere posts please! |
