Opposition parties accuse the former leaders of fuelling the crises
Former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, and former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, have drawn sharp criticisms for their remarks on Sunday decrying the nation’s insecurity.

The former rulers had said in a rare joint statement that the situation has deteriorated; forcing people to live fear and uncertainty, and threatening the unity of the nation.

They advocated community involvement to all forms of resolution considered by the government and offered to assist in ways they can.

But in a statement, the Conference of Political Parties (CNPP) lambasted the former leaders, accusing them of presiding over corruption that had helped to en-trench the current differences that have stoked violence.

“We wish however to call on Generals Obasanjo and Babaginda to fast-track intensive community involvement by returning the billions of United States Dollars (USD) stolen under their watch,” the group said.

“Accordingly, it is our candid view that if the billions of USD siphoned during the Gulf War Oil Windfall under General Babaginda’s watch and billions of USD fleeced off under General Obasanjo’s watch is returned to the Federation Account, it is enough to fully engage millions of unemployed youths.

It is indisputable that the monies stolen under the two regimes are more than enough to complete the Mambilla Hydro-Power -Plant, Kano-Lagos and Maiduguri-Port Harcourt Modern Rail- lines and two refineries of 500.000 barrels per day capacity. This could have stimulated employment and kept the Boko Haram insurgents, kidnappers and other scoundrels busy. This is real community involvement.”

CNPP or what do they kal their selves, n thunder go sap una blood dry for that reply.... So it is IBB and OBJ's stolen money u want to use to provide employment for illiterate boko haram. Nigeria is rich enough to do all this projects, since OBJ left office, bt its this same people like the CNPP that will not let it happen...
If the money they are crying for is eventually returned, it will only fall into another pocket... BTW those Hawks won't return a dime...

There is some element of truth in what they said. But if the money is returned , some corrupt elements in Govt will sit on it.
