hey ya, installing linux on ur p.c is as easy as it get, well i cant get u all info right now but hope this site's will help, www.linuxquestions.org or go to redhat.com to download release notes and help files. for a start this wat u should do, if u already have windows installed, partition ur hard-disk with tools like partition magic, change the file system for the partition in which u intend to install linux to ext3 file format, create another partition for linux swap ( i recommend u use partition magic to partition ur system) also use ext3 file system for the swap partition, save the changes u've made to ur system then, restart ur system for the changes to take effect. Now wen istalling linux follow the prompts and do an automatic linux installation, it'll detect d partition u created for it and install automatically to dat drive. if u dont understand all these j, i'm saying i suggest u go to the sites i suggested earlier for help files or do the instalation under the guidiance of an expert, wish u luck man.

You know what really happen is that you did not specify the kind of OS you use so i can know how best to help u. Linux always have their package managers Like Redhat's RPM, Suse's YAST and (K)Ubuntu's SYNAPTIC/ADEPT which are strongly adviseable because of broken packages which can atime render your system useless but if its some packages that does not have dependencies double clicking on such application will do the trick. If to say U tell me the OS u dey use now i for know where to talk on cos i use ubuntu
