The perception of the relevance and importance of an extra degree, from a foreign (international) tertiary institution, is regularly discussed in Africa, by undergrads in schools of higher learning, in homes by parents and guardians, at work places by professionals and aspiring professionals, and generally by everyone who seeks a chance at getting ahead in life. What is missing in these discussions, is the lack of shared experiences (good or bad) on the public domain, where, those about to make a decision on furthering their studies in foreign (usually UK or USA) schools, could leverage on access to vital first-hand information on the potential benefits and challenges.
