LG Launches Rechargeable LED TV Into Nigerian Market

LG Electronics has launched into the Nigerian market an innovative 32-inch light-emitting diode (LED) rechargeable TV which can operate for 90 minutes after interrupted power supply.

LG has said the timely product called LG 32LS3800 Battery LED TV is an effort to offer consumers interrupted TV viewing at the instant of power outage and longer enjoyable TV experience.

However, the LG 32LS3800 Battery LED TV which costs 75,000 naira ($475) on the Nigerian market needs electric power to recharge.

Electric power failure is characteristic of low/middle-income countries in Africa due to insufficient generation, population explosion, distribution challenges, corruption among others, making 24-hour supply impossible and leaving electric power operators with an electric power-sharing distribution option at best.

In April 2010, American world news site globalpost.com reported a 3-month black out in Zanzibar.

LG is a South Korean electronics, telecommunications and chemical conglomerate with operations on every continent in the world.

If LG wants it to be embraced by large number of Nigeria, they should make its price be reasonable. That is my advice to them. Price controls demand in Nigeria. That is why you see majority of Nigeria using fairly used laptop and PC.

i think the price is fair.

a 32" Samsung LED costs like N75k, no battery. the LG 32" LED without battery costs like N60k

if this is going to come down, it might settle between N61k and N74k, (say N65k/N70k)

till then, just think of it as buying the N60k LG with a N15k UPS; just that the UPS would last like 15mins max

I'm skeptical of LG products and wouldn't touch them with a 10-feet pole with the way they release new products every other day

And 90 mins of Battery life is poor IMO
