Introduction

Purify the intention....

For all those who wants to learn the Quran, They should always remember the promise of Allah: This is probably the most important thing to note..

walaqad yassarnā l-qur'āna lildhik'ri fahal min muddakirin

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

May Allah make it this study easy.. Ameen

There are three kinds of words in Arabic

i. اسم - Ism

ii. فعل - Fi'el

iii. حرف - harf

Whenever you read something in arabic, each word is in these three categories:

iii. حرف - harf is a word that make no sense unless there is a word that comes after it. In english language, this will be prepositions like : in, on, to, etc

ii. فعل - Fi'el is a word that is stuck in time; basically a verb in the english language.... It is either in the present, past or future tense.

i. اسم - Ism refers to a place, person, thing, idea, adverb, adjective and more

We will start learning about Isms, next Insha Allah....

DO NOT FORGET ANY OF THESE, IT IS THE BASICS

Today we start with the ISM, Ism is the hardest type of word..

Properties of the ISM

The Ism has 4 properties, remember them even if your don't understand them:

i. Status

ii. Number

iii. Gender

iv. Type

Memorise them in this order...

Of the 4 properties of the Ism, the hardest one is the Status... So we start with Status,, Status is all about what every word is doing in the sentence...

There are three kinds of status, We will look at just 2 today

i. Doer Status

ii. Detail Status

Some sentences:

1. I was eating too much chocolate.
2. My teeth began aching.
3. My dentist gave me a root canal.

i. Doer Status: The one performing the action has the doer status, For instance,

in sentence 1, I am the doer, (eating)
in sentence 2, My teeth is the doer (aching)
in sentence 3, My dentist is the doer (giving)

ii. Detail Status: The Detail status decribes what is been done, why is it been done, what time is it been done ...

In sentence 1, too much Chocolate answers the questions of what is been eaten

In Sentence 2, A root canal answers the question of what the dentist gave me,
Me answers the question of who he gave it

longer sentence:

I ate lunch outside the house very quickly

Doer is I

Detail

what did i eat? Lunch
Where did i eat? outside the the house
How did i eat? very quickly

A Fi'el cannot be an Ism

What welearnt

4 propertities of ISM

Status, Number, Gender, Type

3 types of status:
i. Doer
ii. Detail

We will deal with the next one, next study,

The posts are short so that they are easier to remember

Alright keep this in mind...

Assalam Aleikum!!
