Nigerians are ever so daft. Read and understand before you start to spew your trash. It's not a major, its just a class (probably with 1 to 3 credits out of an average of 100 credits they have to complete before graduating and most likely an optional class). Chemical engineering majors take dance classes. Maths majors take swimming classes. If a music major (or anyone for that matter) wants to spend $500 learning about MJ's life and how it can impact their's "musically", why not?

There is a difference between Course and Major, an Example of a Course: Chemistry351, while a Major can be a BA in accounting e.t.c.

i am sure its a course under a discipline. and for those who do not know, David Beckham's approach to his branding is a studied course in one of UK's universities> whatever grievances anyone has against Michael Jackson wouldn't deter the fact that as the most commercially successful artiste of all time, his approach to his craft needs to be studied and imbibed by anyone who wants to be a star in the entertainment business.

i think NigerIA University should start our icon FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI BABA 70 as a course also in our universities.

This is great, they are not like us who do not celebrate our heroes when they die, their life and legacy are forgotten. Fela on Broadway is a food for thought for us as we see how foreigners are celebrating our musical icon. Very soon they well start a course about Fela in the USA, in Nigeria here we shall still keep sitting down and looking.
