Honour is given to whom honour is due, not for the purpose of aggrandizement but to encourage those who have rendered selfless services to the generality of the people irrespective of their political affiliation to put in their optimum best to meet the need of the people.
His Excellency, the Comrade Governor of Delta State Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has distinguished himself in the area of human capital development, peace and security and infrastructural development.
The Comrade Governor played a critical role in resolving the militancy issue by going to the creek to negotiate with the boys. Today, the effect is increased in oil production with a corresponding increase in gas out-put which has affected power generation positively for the benefit of the Nigerian people. The governor played his part in improving our revenue profile as a nation and restoring peace in the Niger Delta. He has been able to foster peace among all the ethnic groups in Delta State who were hitherto at daggers drawn at one another prior to the emergence of the comrade governor in 2007.
The free maternal health care introduced by the governor is unprecedented and the masses are very happy with him for introducing such a laudable programme. It is in recognition of the exemplary leadership quality of the Comrade Governor that the federal government gave the prestigious award of GCON to him. This is a moment of joy for the down trodden masses in Delta State in view of our believe that this award will further encourage the governor to put in his best to deliver the dividend of democracy to the good people of Delta State.
On behalf of the Urhobo Youths Coalition, I say thank you to the president and commander in chief of the armed forces of the federation Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the honour given to the comrade governor of Delta State who have worked indefatigably round the clock to put food on the table of less privilege deltans.
To this end therefore, we want to acknowledge and commend the president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for the general improvement in power supply across the nation. This is an unprecedented improvement in power supply in the history of the Nigerian nation and we urge the president to continue in that direction.
