10% Salary Deduction: ASUP Calls Bauchi Govt To Order by mamikky: 10:28am On Sep 18, 2012
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has called on the Bauchi State government to immediately refund what it described as unilateral deductions made on salaries of staff of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytecnic and College of Administration and Business Studies, Azare. National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Mr Clement Chirman, who addressed journalists in Jos, said, “the outrageous and unilateral 10 per cent salary cut should stop henceforth.”

Chirman said the decision was contained in a communiqué issued after the recent ASUP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Kebbi State. The union also rejected the Tertiary Education Trust Fund sharing formula calling it discriminatory and demanded for fair allocation of resources to all tertiary institutions in the country.

While urging all states and Federal Government to immediately appoint substantive rectors for polytechnics where acting rectors have overstayed, he said ASUP is committed to improving polytechnic education in the country through dialogue and nurturing of members in all disciplines.
