Microsoft Attempting World's Largest Coding Marathon by Nobody: 6:18pm On Sep 21, 2012

Microsoft has been holding Windows-based coding events and marathons for, well, years. Today, the company claims that it wants to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for holding the single largest coding marathon ever during an event in Bangalore, India.
The official Windows blog has posted word of the event, the Windows AppFest. The blog states:

Thousands of developers from all over India and beyond will descend upon the event to build apps for Windows. This event represents an opportunity for developers to come together to learn how to build great apps and network with Microsoft programmers and design specialists. Developers will get help and guidance on preparing their apps for certification and ultimately submission into the Windows Store.

There's no word on what the previous world record was for the biggest coding marathon, but judging by the photos of the event posted earlier today it sounds like Microsoft has a good shot of establishing a new record for such an event.

Microsoft also said today that since the BUILD 2011 developer conference in September, where the first Developer Preview version of Windows 8 was released, the company has held over 750 Windows developer events in over 50 countries, with over 200,000 developers participating in those events.
