'... Sorry, our institution is a non residential university, we don't have accomodation for you, instead, a stipend of 9k is given out monthly to subsidize your transport n accomodation', said the Assistant Registrar. With a frowned face, ' hoW on earth am I going to start looking for accomodation again after all I've went through', I thought.he tapped on my shoulder n said, common, you are a big boy, you should be happy you were accepted. We rejected a lot that were sent from the NYSC as he hurried away. I chuckled... 'So redeployment is hectic as this?', I asked. Heaving a sigh, I zoomed off to my LG secretariat to submit my acceptance letter....
After 3weeks of search n research, an apartment was found by some heartless agent who ripped me off 8k, as agent fee. That's the begining of my loneliness!
With the recent announcement by the ASUU, I thought I could go home. Alas, I was wrong, the HOD in his humorous tone said to me; 'young corper, with this strike, I guess you know you're the acting HOD now' I remain speechless starring at him as if to assault him. 'But there is strike, what should I be doing? I thought I can go home, the school is dry... ' I fired back angrily. 'Calm down, at the end of the day, I will still be the one to sign your monthly clearance' he said... 'That's why it is called national service' he added. 'Take heart, corper' he comforted.
