For those of us who have been
falsely claiming that the 1966
first military coup was led by
Igbos to exterminate non Igbo
leaders in order take over the
country and branded it as an "Igbo coup" should go back to
history and facts to help
themselves out. This was the
reason they claimed the whole
country rallied against Igbos to
wipe them out in a genocide. This is a malicious and cheap
propaganda contrived to make
their claims stick. But the more
you try to bury facts and truth,
themore the inconsistences of
your hypocrisy and lies continues to surface. You
cannever murder history. It's
not possible!
The truth is that, those who led
the military putsh were
motivated by the injustices, prejudice, nepotism and the
lopesided nature of federal and
military appointments the
behemoths in power then were
doing to subjugate and
dominate others by force, arrogantly promote one section
over another. It was never an
Igbo affair as is being peddled
to find relevance. Now take a look at the list of
the '66 coup plotters and render
your own judgement; 1. Major Chukwuma Kaduna
Nzeogwu(Delta Igbo)
2. Major Adewale Ademoyega
(Yoruba) author of "Why we
struck"
3. Capt. G. Adeleke(Yoruba) 4. Maj. Ifeajuna(Igbo)
5. Lt. Fola Oyewole(Yoruba)
author of "The reluctant rebel"
6. Lt. R. Egbiko(Esean)
7. Lt. Tijani Katsina(Hausa/
Fulani) 8. Lt. O. Olafemiyan(Yoruba)
9. Capt. Gibson Jalo(Bali)
10. Capt. Swanton(Middle Belt)
11. Lt. Hope Harris Eghagha
(Urhobo)
12. Lt. Dag Warribor(Ijaw) 13. 2nd Lt. Saleh Dambo(Hausa)
14. 2nd Lt. John Atom Kpera
(Tiv). So, to an unbiased observer,
what evidence can one provide
to show that Igbos actually
carried out the coup in order to
exterminate other tribes and
take over the country? It is very easy to sell falshood, but it is
very difficult to provide facts to
buttress your claims. It is now clear even to a
suckling, that the imperialist
genocidists crammed up this
murderous lies against the
Igbos to find reasons to
perpetually keep them under hate.
One even wonders why the
nigerian state and perpetrators
of the gruesome genocide have
been preventing the proper
documentation of that episode for the benefits of her posterity.

Yorubas wanted Akintola dead, and he was killed to save Yoruba Nation from self destruction.
If Akintola didn't die, Awolowo would have died in Calabar prison.

The coup plotters might not all have been Igbo;however there was no representation of any top igbo political big wig among the casualties of the coup in contrast to the yoruba and hausa ethnic group. This anomaly must surely have led to the suspicion that it was an igbo coup considering the overall number of igbo officers that participated in the coup...

The Millitary Government
under Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi
Babaginda was so convinced
that Obafemi Awolowo was a
tribalist that his government
refused giving Awo a national burial and the Yorubas never
forgive him for that.
Then, why condemn Achebe for
butressing this point?
"....But Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu was given a full national burial.

Names of actors

These were Majors Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna, Ademoyega, Okafor, Anuforo, Chukwuka, Obienu, Onwuatuegwu and Chude-Sokei. Shortly before the coup, Chude-Sokei was posted overseas. On the coup day itself, Obienu failed to show, leaving seven Majors as participants. When it came to execution, the Majors designated five officers as regional commanders for the coup’s execution. Of Nzeogwu’s "five", there were "the two of us in the North" (Nzeogwu and Major Tim Onwuatuegwu), and three more in the South.

Names of victims.

The citizens were terribly shocked when top-ranking government
functionaries including the Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa
Balewa, were killed in a selective elimination that tended to give the
whole exercise an ethnic coloration. Others who died were the premier
of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello; the premier of Western Nigeria,
Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola and the Finance Minister, Chief Festus
Okotie-Eboh. Also, Brig. S.A. Ademulegun, Major S.A. Adegoke, Lt. Col. J.Y. Pam, Brig. Zakari Maimalari and Col. Kur Mohammed died. Others who lost their lives included Lt. Col. Largema, S/Ltd.. James Odu, Col. S.A.Shodeinde and Lt. Col. A.G. Unegbe.

Be the judge!!

If he was d one that wrote that same book, would d yoruba be shouting themselves hoarse over it. Pls everybody should stop this postings. It's becoming childish. Don't understand why the igbo's are trying to deny involvement in the coup when it was led by an Igbo man. The fact that it was led by an igbo man and the fact that no senior igbo military officers were killed is enough evidence, no need for any argument again.
If we're still on this Achebe thing bby proxy, then I must say that it's no point joining issues with an 80 something year old man who has never hidden his sympathies for Biafra. The most painful observation I've made however is that Awolowo, a one time federal commissioner and federal minister was denied a state burial and ojukwu, who masterminded the deaths of hunderds of thousands of Nigerians was accorded a state burial. And the Igbo's still feel they are the oppressed ones?

It is either you are irredeemably dumb or a pathetic functional illiterate. Unlike Yoruba, Ndigbo have never denied that Igbo son was involved in the coup Nigerian soldiers precipitated on January 15, 1966. However, Ndigbo have bravely maintained that Igbo officers led the military putsch but the idea it was an Igbo coup is simply moronic. If no Igbo senior military officer was killed during coup according to dumbass such as you, then Lt Col A. Unegbe must be a Yoruba or army recruit.

Achebe does not need to hide or have sympathies for Biafra because he is a Biafran like most Igbo people. If your expressed knowledge of events of January 15, 1966 in Nigeria granted you the impetus to spew crap, I pity your idiosyncrasy.

Another irrefutable evidence of the conspiracy against Igbos to justify their massacre in 1967. I knew Igbos didn't lead that coup. If not, why would Ironsi threaten to arrest Major Kaduna Nzeogwu after he secured Lagos, if they had been co-conspirators? Why didn't Lt. Col O.Ojukwu (GOC Commander in Kano) not know about the coup, yet Mallam Hassan Katsina had to tell him about what was going on? It all just didn't add up. Nigerians with their short memories just felt it was convenient to blame Igbos for the 1966 coup because it was led by Nzeogwu and conveniently forgot all the other major actors who were non-igbo in the group.

Please take a good look of your idiotic self. If there is an azzhole on this forum, you deserved the honor. You singlehandedly injected elements of falsehood to this discussion by publicly stating “The fact that it was led by an igbo man and the fact that no senior igbo military officers were killed is enough evidence, no need for any argument again”.

If there is no need to set the record straight, I certainly will not cross words with dumbass such as you, olodo.
