apala911: The Managing Director of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engineer Gab-riel Amuchi, has said that the agency has embarked on a drive to achieve zero potholes on selected federal roads of economic value by December this year.

He stated this while on an inspection tour of ongoing pot-holes patching along the Abuja-Kaduna road. He said that the agency has been directed by the Presidency to achieve zero potholes on the identified roads to ensure that mass vehicular traffic is not hampered during the Yuletide season.

“FERMA`s operations are now well positioned to respond effectively to the challenges of maintaining all federal roads in the country, with the acquisition of relevant machinery tailor-made for round the clock road maintenance. Among the automated equipment acquired and deployed to the selected federal roads are FP5 patchers, wheel loaders and back hoes, as well as sundry hand tools for day to day road maintenance,`` he said

why should they target December which is in dry season, why not in the peak of the raining season(May-August) to test if our our roads are flood/rain proof, the contractors and Ministry workers connive to construct sub-standard roads that cannot stand the least rain drop at exhorbitant cost.

In USA and Europe inspite of hurricane, tornados, typhoons, cyclones and heavy flooding their roads still remain intact ,this is not so In nigeria

...if FERMA & d Fed.Govt r truly sincere they wud give us a list of dos Fed.Roads day wud av 0% pot holes cum December 2012. There's no way we can hold GEJ accountable to dis promise if we don't know which roads they intend to fix. But trust me,dis is d usual GEJ spin. Selected roads of economic importance? And u begin wit Kd-Abj road I comfortably did 160-170km/hr on dt road dis morning on my way to Abj frm Sokoto,....and dt is d road GEJ is starting wit (a fi ete sile,an pa lapalapa),....y not Ibadan-Lagos, Jebba-Ilorin, Funtua-Zaria, OR SAGAMU-ORE-BENIN express? GEJ & his spin doctors (aka Doyin Okupe) sure know how to chase wild goose!
